Hope i wouldn't be banned for thread derailment.Saw Mode 9 on TV saying he doesn't give a shit about Nairaland and wouldn't visit the site 'cos they(NL) don't feel him. Never knew this site is that popular and maybe Mode hasn't being reading Java's posts . Back to the topic, I think Ill Bliss' track "Aye po gan" is a good response to the question the OP raised.

@tosin
Saucekid aquashed beefs with modenine not the other way round as you said,
@topic MI is good. . . . and very good in biting modenine's lyrics as well
he is tight in delivery and flows . . .
but i still prefer modenine over him
and why should rug head and modenine retire cos of him. . . maybe rug head can retire cos he has lost focus already
but for more to retire means to kill realness in naija

No doubt M.I is the hottest thing right now. His style, beats, lyrics etc are wicked but Mode 9 is still the greatest naija rapper of all time. M.I appeals to a younger generation of naija hip-hop fans I guess thats why the dude seems to have taken over. He HAS lifted the bar in naija rap and the only person who can comfortably hold his own on that and an even more advanced level is mode9

yeah i agree Mode9 and Ruggedman lifted the bars when it comes to Rap music in Naija but M.I. showed us the light and we are tired of repeated bullshits on the airwave by these 2 so called Kings, hehheehhehehehe, M.I.'s bar is higher now and the cant catch him.

"Talk about it" is about one of the best hip-hop albums we've had so far i don't doubt there'll be better ones, M.I is too real to be fake he's here to stay.

Mode9 kept speaking big big grammar until he became irrelevant. The bus left that man. It's time to retire or just keep with his style knowing it will never make him money. And yes, one of the major reasons for going into music is money.
M.I. is doing a good job so far. At least he isn't shying away from dropping lines on dance tracks.

I have seen the comments here and I see a some MI bashers, it's ok not to like some1 but come on guys ease of on being negative, honestly I think MI intimidates all these pple that is why the best they can say is he bites lyrics, and point only to two lines from his mixtape. In case you did not notice, the song u r referring to is Can't tell me nothing, a track by Kanye who's mentor is Jay-Z, it's more than coincidence, I'll go over limb and say it is intentional, considering the track title is "can't tell me nothing" and he starts of addressing critics, go back and listen As panalyst stated, in the midst of the MI bashing, y'all fail to see the classic lines that follow: I guess im what rappers want to be and shit I guess I rock their boats on some Aaliyah shit (Rest her soul) Niggas run like diarrhoea and shit. Houston there's a problem, it's a major bleep You gonna need much more than a Lil' flip,
(for those who don't know, Lil' flip is amongst the first Houston rappers to become mainstream, hence the brilliance of that those lines) and as for the lines Tosin posted Rappers talking smack, I eight (ate) limbs like an octopus We historic black boys, so Barack~of~us" and we dont giveS a damn (SADAM) so IRAQ of us
Definitely u so-called hiphop heads who claim they are all over mode9's cipher and ish can't even understand somn right in your faces so let me break it down for you 1.) Rappers talking smack, I ate (eight) limbs like an octopus Ever heard the figurative expression, "rip your limbs off/out" or "I'll eat you up" referring to destroying/murdering/defeating someone in a competition??? need I say more??? Now even literally an octopus wud so eat u up, thus he is saying he wud eat those rappers talking smack, still don't get it??? 2.) We historic black boys so Barack of us It baffles me that pple don't get this one sha, anyways, Barack Obama is historic as the first African American President of America, hence he is saying he and his camp (Choc City, Loopy) are equally historic (30000 copies sold in 30 minutes shit, lol ), so it's not there just cos it rhymes with Iraq 3.) And we don't giveS a damn (Saddam) so Iraq of us In case you forgot, Saddam Hussein was the president of Iraq and he did not give a damn what the rest of the world said, he did wat he wanted to do when he wanted to do it, hope u get it now, cos I cannot dumb it down any further ooo All ye MI bashes just picked the wrong song to go after sha, there are more correct lyrics in the song sef, but I'll not get into all of it cos this wud be long

So Rapjunkie Im gonna try and explain this for u one last time
1.) We historic black boys so Barack of us Barack Obama = Historic black man So he is using Obama's first name Barack to qualify the characteristics of he and his camp as historic.
2.) And we don't giveS a damn (Saddam) so Iraq of us There are two links in this line, first is to understand that Saddam is characterized as representing Iraq. And second is that Saddam/Iraq never gave a damn wat anyone else said. So where is he say "giveS a damn" it also reads out Saddam, and we have already established that Saddam never gave a damn and ran Iraq like he was the country. So here also Iraq qualifies the character of not giving a damn, get it??

I understand all that . . . . . . . . .historic black boys/obama . . . . . gives a damn/ saddam , but what is the relevance of adding the ' of us' in both lines if not to rhyme with octopus? so i ask again . . . . . . what does 'barack of us' and 'iraq of us' mean?

I've got the whole illegal mixtape tracks on my mobile. I don't really know which is my favourite cos i love nearly all the tracks. M.I's the sh!t for nw nd if u's hatin . . take a gun then put a hole in your head . I think the dude is lyrically inclined like M9 but his delivery nd wordplay is an xtra edge which gives him dat 'mass acceptance'.
'We historic black boys . . so Barrack of us'
If u don't get that then it's a big pity for a so called mode9 fan. It's M all the way . . M.I. then Mode9 lol It's the "Illegal Music Mixtape" baby! while Y'all still "Talk about it"
One last thing; M.I. is presently rockin all shows in Naija nd beyond. E'ry artist wants a piece of him, nw dats wat i'm talking about.

see u contradicting urself just to establish a point based on hate!!!! We (plural) historic black boys, so Barack~of~us (plural)" and we (plural)" dont giveS a damn (SADAM) so IRAQ of us (plural)" u get??? "we" is plural so he has to use "us" cos thats plural also!!! or u expecting him to use me??? common man, he aint talking of himself alone here. . . . any1 who has listened to his album and mixtape will have heard sumtn like loopy records, thats the name of his crew and thats the "we" and "us" he is talking about

No disrespect but honestly, your asking this question again ultimately defeats the purpose of your name as rapjunkie because if you need all these explanations for you to get these simple lines then u shud change your name to rapnovice or something haba, lol Im not going to waste anytime with the lyrics this time around, I going str8 to regular english expressions. If you don't get it afterwards, u r on your own Example 1: A child does something out of character that is stupid and an adult wants to scold him/her, the adult says "That was so stupid of you" Notice that the sentence is singular because it is referring to just one child. The adult could also have said "That was so stupid" but to connect the stupidity of the action to the child, he/she adds the of youExample 2: A group of friends wrestle their friend out of the mouth of a lion, and someone was reporting on the character it took to do that, the person can say, "That was very brave of them" here again, u notice the plurality because it refers to more than one person That is as far as Im going to go regarding those particular lyrics, I hope you get it now. safe

@tosinaded your squiggle above means absolutely nothing . . . . . . sub/plural/sub e.t.c which confirms to me that university degrees must now be for sale in naija since u have graduated and are presumably doing NYSC in Borno state . . . . . . i wonder why they posted u so far away? @Ez-E The insertion of ' Iraq of us' was soley placed to rhyme with ' Barrack of us'. The initial parts of the rhymes make sense HOWEVER, 'of us' was cynically placed to rhyme with octopus. The terms 'Iraq of us' and 'barack of us' are meaningless. Have u ever heard or used these terms EVER? More particularly the use of term 'Iraq of us'. The rhyme should actually stop at Iraq ( and maybe something else afterwards) but 'of us' is only added to rhyme with the preceding bar with NO REGARD to whether it makes sense or not. Apparently, this is wordplay!!! The rationale you guys seem to spout is as long as 85% of the line makes sense and the rest rhymes, its ALL GOOD! Well, its not good enough for me. There is no point trying to appear smarter than u really are because it makes u look silly. Its not as great as u are trying to make out and frankly, i'm quite surprised you actually took time to explain the BLEEDING PLAIN OBVIOUS!!!!. Ever heard of the word 'sarcasm'? if not, read my posts again . . . . . .
