Holy Smokes, Pastor Beaf done bust loose again.    That video was the final straw for me, and now my mind is made up to form my own Nigerian Mugu Church, because I have NEVER seen such joyous celebration by people in the process of paying money which they know will NEVER yield any returns until AFTER they all die and go to heaven.

Just as soon as I recover from the injuries I sustained while trying to ape the dance moves in that video, it is ON, fer sure.

Referring to Pastor E.A Adeboye and Bishop David Oyedepo as great apostles of Christ was not by mistake and nothing can change that opinion of mine. It is clear that most people on this forum knows little or nothing about the two great men of God and their ministry. I have been greatly blessed by their ministry and I just wonder how people can so ignorant about the truth.

My earlier response was not for everybody, those that need the message have already gotten it. Bible says You shall know the truth and the truth (which you know) shall make you free. The evidence of your knowledge of truth is in your freedom.

Let me also tell you that the more these Great Men of God are criticised, the higher they go. As I wrote earlier, the first time I read these OPINION of Pastor Bakare was in 1996 and you all know that God has done much greater exploits in their live and ministry in the last decade. The churches are waxing stronger in Faith. This is a pointer that the opinion of men do not necessarily mean the opinion of God. Men read newspaper while God reads the heart of Men. The truth cannot never be subdued no matter how! Like I said the evidence of your knowledge of the truth is not in how much scripture you can quote but in your freedom, your testimony. If you are still not free, you have not known the truth.

Again to the people that are still young in Faith like I was in 1996 when I first read these opinion of Pastor Bakare. I say to you again without any fear, be strong, keep following the truth and surely your testimonies will definately come. I believe in our lord Jesus Christ, his dead and his resurrection, I believe in his prophets, I believe in Miracle, I believe in the truth which is evident in my freedom, I believe in the mystery of the anointing oil, I believe in the use of mantle. Nothing can change my beileve and I have diverse of testimonies to backup my believe.

I NEED ANSWERS TO THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS

Remember the bible said " The Berean christians were wiser,because they always personally confirm from the bible if what paul taught them were true or false" i cant pick the precise verse in the bible but this shows some set of christians had the gut to scrutinise words from their spiritual leader at the beginning of christianity. I dont understand why we always fear to hold our spiritual leaders accountable,they are also human and they do make mistakes. Rather we take everything dished to us in churches in wholesome manners.

Do you know some pastors lost Huge sums of money collected through offering, Tithes,and seeds to the current crash in the stock market?. If the MD of a Public Company had recorded such loses wont he be questioned? I wont mention names but how do we explain this? Most of these men of God are the sole signatory to church accounts and they disburse funds as they please. Jesus would have focused his attention on feeding widows and fatherless, that is the missionary work am talking about. I have always argued that men of God should be able to draw the line between ministry and business but we are really missing the point in Nigeria and its soo sad. These men of God hold large shares in companies that were formed with church members sweat believe it or not but they will never tell you openly. Dont you think its time churches start presenting audited accounts to members if funds are being used for commercial purposes?

I am also a pentecostal believer but let us tell ourselves some truths. Do you know my sister and her husband were given payment slip booklets in 2002 or thereabout to keep donating money for the construction of the Winners chapel, Covenant University but today i am not sure they can send their children there because of the huge fees being paid. Is that a MISSIONARY WORK? If the catholics and methodist church of these world had sinister motives when they came to Nigeria i am not sure many of us would have had western education.

One more hypochrisy that gets me angry is that 90% of these men of God send their children abroad for University studies while i am being preached at to believe in the Nigerian dream and commit all i have got to this country including my children education. Is that not the admittance that Nigeria is a failed state? And if that is right why are the churches not been encouraged to engage the corrupt leaders so that we can fight for our right?. Its because they are quietly comfortable with the status quo,so that the Tithes and Offerings can keep coming in.

One other question i have is why is there so much division in the body of christ? Jesus never had different branches and different doctrines, Do you know churches in Nigeria are quietly competing with each other? every church is trying to build the largest auditorium, every church wants to have the largest spiritual gathering, every church want to have the biggest gospel concert. Shouldnt we ask ourselves how these have helped developed our economy? We still remain one of the most corrupt nations on earth,soo much for our largest christian achievements.

Finally, Last week i got several frantic robocall and text messages from a church inviting me for their annual conference. For Gods sake i am already a leader in another church,why all these frantic efforts to gather crowd?. I know the answers, its because the church in question had not been soo competitive in the recent publicity efforts in the churches and it is telling on their financial statement.

Jesus is the way,the truth and life but Pastors in Nigeria are missing the line between Church and Business and that should be corrected.

It doesn't have to be like 'state and federal universities'. The Catholic and Methodist schools were a cut above most other schools in Nigeria in those days. And they certainly didn't charge an arm and a leg for school fees.

This is one of the reasons why i visit the church once every year. . . . .That is Dec 31.

Just because i am so sick of all these prosperity preaching but you dont have to blame the pastors.
They are all savvy business men. . .

My heart weeps when i read comments like this, these pastors should humble themselves and let people see the lord Jesus as the all in all. I am not sure peter or paul ever had such comments directed at them, and its because of the way they conducted their ministries, Jesus was the centre of all attractions as far as they are concerned.

Let me start by saying that all Glory belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ. It will be spiritual stupidity/ignorance to give glory to any man, pastor, evangelist,bishop,emam or whoever. The major impact that these Apostles of Faith make in the life of the people all over the world is through their teachings. For example, I learnt from Bishop David Oyedepo in 1997 how you can leave a holy life through hardworking. Talking about testimonies, I share this testimonies with all humility and with reference the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the doer of great things. All glory be unto our Lord Jesus Christ who is the very source of my life, the reason for my living and the very secret of my success.  I was just an average student before I came in contact with the TEACHINGS of these Apostles of Faith and through their teachings, specifically one tape from Bishop David Oyedepo titled "I MUST WORK"  my academic destiny was turned around through the divine inspiration. I then graduated with First Class and as the overall best student in one of the topmost Federal University in Nigeria.  Following that I was awarded a very competitive scholarship for my MSc in UK when the university had already informed me that I was not successful, I switched on to the wonders on Praise as thought by Bishop Oyedepo and I miracoulosly received the award letter after the heavens had reversed the decision in my favour. I'm not ready to argue anything with you on anything, I noly share my testimonies because someone requested from it. Also, you should know that there is a clear difference between the TEACHING and the Teacher, read my message again. I mentioned the TEACHING and not the pastor ok, I have never met either of the Men of God one-on-one before. This is not to change your opinion or view but just for clarification. I have nothing to boast about but I'm one of the least of Man until the grace of God found me out. Without his grace, I'm absolutely nothing.

you poor misguided fellow. The Israelites sold their goods to give to the POOR! Jesus told his followers to give their things to the POOR. Paul and the other apostles used the goods and monies brought by the early christians to help the poor and the widows.

Jesus Christ gave no direct command to pay tithes or sow seeds. He insisted on charity and based one of his most famous parables on helping God by Helping the POOR. Yet you deluded sheep hand over your hard earned money for church ventures that have precious little to do with charity.

Like I said, Men quote from the Bible where it suits them Most. Even, drunkards have verses they quote to support their habit.

Read further (Exodus 35 and see what they were asked to bring. was is Money? and what happened when it was enough for the work of the Tabernacle? Moses asked them to stop bringing, he didn't take the leftover to save for future use. Which of these 3G "Men of God" will do that? when they have projects of their own. In some churches people are even forced to pay money or forfeit their rites in church.

I don't mean to argue the Bible (which I know is wrong) but all am saying is people should learn to read the Bible themselves and stop depending on some treacherous "men of God" to do and tell them what is there and what is not and what  ought not to be.

Texaspete,,,,, do not forget that there has to be an intermediary to ensure the poor get just an amount that sustains them in their poverty encapsule. This is where the pastors come in! The purchase of the jets and fancy cars is just to ensure the money does not remain idle. So please let them keep giving to the 'poor'

I then graduated with First Class and as the overall best student in one of the topmost Federal University in Nigeria.  Following that I was awarded a very competitive scholarship for my MSc in UK when the university had already informed me that I was not successful, I switched on to the wonders on Praise as thought by Bishop Oyedepo and I miracoulosly received the award letter after the heavens had reversed the decision in my favour. When they were constructing Cannan Land, I worked there as Labourer carrying cement to earn some money in 1997 but today,still in my early 30, I have used my money to buy 3 cars with the 4th on the way (2 SUVs). I have visited 5 different continents in the last 3 years including US. Once again all glory be unto our Lord Jesus Christ for he is the doer while I'm just fortunate to be a receiver. People, I must tell you, when I was in secondary school, I never had ambition of even going into University but today, the story has changed. I contacted the truth in the word of God and the truth set me free and it will work for anybody for our God is not a respecter of person. What I have shared with you is just a fraction, I can write a book out the lord'd doing in my life.

I know you will still critize my testimonies despite the fact that you requested for it but our God is a faithful God. You may say people that don't go to church achieved similar feet but again maybe they are just brilliant but in my own case I was just an average village boy!  As many as believe in these testiminies, I advice you to key into the word, seek for the truth and God that did my own will surely do you own. As many as don't believe, may God continue to help you. It is only a fool that doubt proof. Take your destiny in your own hand! May the lord help and prosper you in all your ways. I totally align with most of what you have said. The key thing Il take from your position is that you followed Oyedepo's TEACHINGS. This is an occurence that is not unique to Christianity alone. People follow other people's way of life especially if it is tested and trusted.
The major problem and this I cannot really blame on the men of God is that we the members turn them into gods. The moment we realise a man of God can give us a bottle of oil or a mantle or handkerchief to solve all our problems, we become mentally lazy to do things ourselves. I will not castigate Oyedepo or Adeboye because Ive only being to their programs a few times and Ive not had any cause to worry at those programs. I will rather blame us christians and even those castigating these men now. We are mostly lazy. These people are human beings, very prone to errors and thus we should stop seeing them as gods. If we see them as humans, then we won't be quick to judge. But we expect everything they do to be right and just, it shouldn't be. Remember, Bakare himself has made some mistakes in the past too and he even acknowledged one in this interview.

Let us all remember that even Christ had this challenge. The people when they saw the miracles he performed wanted to make Him king. Several times they tried to crown Him. Infact at a time Christ said it openly that they honoured Him because of the things they were getting from Him ie the miracles and free food. But in the end, He still continued to feed them and heal them.

I personally think its a human tragedy to always look for short cuts to problem solving. We don't want to serve God with our hearts but only cos of what we are getting from Him. Let us spend time, serving God, we can and are allowed to learn from men but we must understand that the source is God and there is no short cut to Him except through Christ and no other.

@meine, You sound like a bible scholar. I'm very impressed in the way many of u guys in NL analyse doctrine. Tunde Bakare is very sound and i think his criticism is constructive. I don't see anything wrong in scrutinizing the doctrine you hear; it is something that is expected of every christian. Its a different thing when one starts castigating the other person, Nothing should be taken personal.

The scriptures says call no one father( the also includes Daddy or Papa ) which many christians accord to their leaders, hence making them GOD. I've heard of a guest pastor who rebuked all the members of the church he was called to preach because the pastor of the church was not driving a state of the art car.

There are so many irresponsible men on the pulpit. If one listens to them, he/she would go astray. There's this same preacher who claims that he works 18 hours every day, he has never been hospitalized or taken drugs for many years.

I am amazed that you are labouring so hard to justify your slavery to men. You voluntarily submitted yourself to these men to follow and serve them. No problem. Your servitude has is more honourable than the one that our forefathers were subjected to in the sugar cane plantations of the carribean, for yours is voluntary. You therefore have every right to carry on without trying to convince the rest of us who are sane as to the hows and whys.

Now to your "testimonies". I have to be charitable and say they are completely pedestrian and banal. They can be summarised as follows:

1. Change in academic fortune
2. Purchase of four tokunbo cars
3. Visiting of the five continents (heaven inclusive)
4. Writing a book

I know of a Yahoo Yahoo boy in my neighbourhood whose testimonies resembles what you have just told us. In the last three years he has doubled all your so called achievements. Was it Pastor Oledepo (thief plenty) that made it possible for him too? I was expecting you to give testimonies that are truly inspiring and spiritually uplifting. But all you have to offer are fleshly and common place. Please get a life.
