We all love a chillied drink to erase our thirst or just refresh our tastebuds and throat. It is however a researched and verified fact that taking of cold water is actually hazzarduous to the health.
This is so because it impedes the ease of digestion especially, that of lipid (oils/ oily foods) and causes it to cake up as bad/ saturated fat which could store up in your blood vessels someplace along the channel. This in turn could restrict blood flow, increase the number of varicose veins and pollute your blood stream when it thaws out in some cases.

Medical advice:
Reduce cold liquid intake to the minimum and when you must,

Try not to take cold water with food.

I have read the link, it says something about cold water turning oils to undigestible fats. Whatever explanation is being brought forward, its not a plausible one.
Fats and oils are classified into harmful saturated fats and polyunsaturated fats which are good for you.
Im not anti-info and like to learn new stuff but this clearly breaks all the rules of nutrition and health. Temprature doesn't/shouldn't affect or change unsaturated fats to saturated.

digestion of fat occurs in the small intestine so by the time water gets there, its temp will be "ok"

if the water remains cold in your tummy, u would feel as if u were a cold bottle of water. besides d sharp drop in temp will cause u some pains

my conclusion: drinking cold water is completely harmless esp when u live in the tropics

@ the liver guy, water and food do nt go to ur liver directly. The liver would always try to detoxify ur system bt there is only so much it can take- thts y u get a bloated tummy if u kp taking lots of alcohol (for example).

the so called bloated tummy is due to deposition of fats. Alcohol contains a lot of calories. When these these calories are excessive, the liver converts them to fats and stores them in the mid section. (belly, buttocks, hips, upper thighs)

When you drink cold water, its temperature is converted to body temperature within a very short time. The body is constantly generating heat, but there is no energy to maintain the cool temperature of the water you drank, so in a very short time, the body takes over. Simple.

There are so many things that are not known in science, and it may be possible that some of the things you said may have a very small probability of being true in future.

But, you should know that you can not try to explain what you don't understand with falacies.

eating or drinking cold things only becomes an issue if you are stranded on an ice sheet eating snow. otherwise you body will recover its minute lose of temp very quickly. in hot climates eating/drinking cold things is GOOD for you in that it can help prevent heat exhastion

your body will shut down around 80 degrees f. ground water is 56 degrees f. (ice water 32 degrees f) blows your theory right there dont it. you have to sit in ice water for 10 min before you brain stem is affected by the cold not drink it. read a biology book please
