THE General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly and running mate of Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) during the April 16 presidential election, Pastor Tunde Bakare, declared that it would be fool-hardy for “any bastard and the son of a concubine” to assume the leadership mantle of the Yoruba.

While preaching in his church in Lagos on the topic: “It is time to speak”, the fiery cleric said: “Look at the madness going on in Yoruba land. slowpoke, nincompoop, people without family background causing problem because of money, ill gotten wealth. If a town or settlement is at peace, the bastard there is yet to grow up.

“If you are a bastard, there is nothing you can do to cover up with money. Where is your father’s compound? A bastard pretending to be a patriot. We are proud of our heritage because we have goodly heritage. There are those who call themselves nobles who are under the influence of Jezebel. Until they drink kainkain, they cannot function. They pretend to be larger than life,” he added.

He likened the person angling to take over the leadership of the Yoruba to the Biblical Abimelech who forcefully took over a kingdom that did not belong to him and was eventually destroyed.

The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Vice Presidential candidate declared further: “If you are trusting the son of a concubine to deliver you, you are in trouble”.

On the 18th anniversary of the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election won by the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, he said: “I warned Abiola not to contest election but he wouldn’t listen to me. I said in one of my messages that was there no elder left in Abiola’s home to warn him not to contest? When I gave the message, Sunny Okosun stormed my church that I got it wrong this time around. I also told them what God said concerning both the National Republican Convention and the Social Democratic Party that the two parties would fail but nobody listened. I foretold the annulment also and Abiola wrote me after that asking: “What is God saying now?” and I replied: “Unless you ask Him”. The Yoruba leaders who said MKO Abiola would not stay in prison, that it would cause a serious crisis in the country, it turned out to be an empty boast. The same Yoruba leader who said Nigeria would go to blazes if he died in the gulag didn’t do anything when he was brought in a sack to Lagos for burial, instead their sons and daughters were made ministers”.

On President Goodluck Jonathan’s victory, he said: “Those who colluded with Jonathan to rig us out will suffer the consequence. After three years, the truth will unfold. If Jonathan’s victory was without rigging, everything will be well but if they rigged and are trying to cover up, the truth will soon unfold. The thing that will destroy the government is with them. Why did they allow the data capturing machine to capture us? One of our prayers at the presidential election petition that they should subject all the ballot papers they used in the South-South and South-East to a forensic text has been answered. “We learnt that Jega’s office got burnt the same afternoon the judgment was given in our favour. We pray that all the ballot papers are still intact. To me, all that we desire to happen is what June 12 did to the military. April 16 will do same to election riggers in Nigeria.
“In a particular ward in Calabar, only 6,468 people registered but they recorded over 70,000 votes for Jonathan alone during the presidential election. All these irregularities will not stand. They blamed the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) for the violence after the election, what brings violence is corruption. The crisis that has erupted in Nigeria before, was it by Buhari also? Why did it take six days for the President of Nigeria to talk about this issue? Is he not the Chief Security Officer of Nigeria?

“Let’s not give a dog a bad name to hang it. General Buhari is not responsible for what happened in any form. It happened in Egypt, it is happening right now all over the world. The people deprived are fighting for their own survival and challenging the power of incumbency that is what has happened in our nation. I thank God it has been curtailed. I ‘m not interested in bloodletting, I have never being a violent person”.

On the detention of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, he said: “I don’t have the details about the corruption allegation preferred against him. If by tomorrow, he tells me that he is guilty, I will tell you. But let them treat him anyhow, he will spill the beans and you will know that it is kleptomaniac that is going on in Nigeria. They are all thieves, government by thieves. Because if they jail him, he will name others who are involved in shady deals too. It is a systemic failure. They are all the same. What is the difference between the ACN and PDP? ACN is not different from PDP at all. There is no difference between ACN and PDP. In fact, ACN is the other side of the coin of PDP.

Bakare is not trying at all. Anybody can say anything and I wont bother but for Bakare to say a child born out of wedlock cant lead and goes further to create a gap between two humans is totally wrong! Bakare seems to have lost it completely.
When i'v quit fuming, I may consider reading the rest of the post.

Well,i don't know enough about BAT's background to term him an 'omo ale' ,but Bakare is very right in calling PDP and ACN two sides of a coin,in fact, they are two sides of a very bad coin.

The supposed pulpit of God has become the platform for politics. Didn't God tell him they would 'rig' them out or that their evidence would get burnt? At least according to him God told him about every other thing. He should remember though that he didn't get the issue of OBJ right. Should a man of God be asking for where another man's compound is when we are all supposed to be equal in His presence?

So when this man talks, does he do so as a pastor/messenger of God or as a practicing politician with vested interests? These are two caps that are difficult, if not impossible, for a single man to wear. Is it proper to use the pulpit to express such biased and jaundiced political views?

I am dissapointed that Bakare who calls himself a man of God is spewing this kind of line about another person over ethnic politics. No human being is illegitimate and for him to use Tinubu's family  background as a weapon against him is very unfortunate. I am appalled that some people here are ready to support him simply because they hero-worship the Awolowos. If you do, be rest assured that someone will hit you on where it hurts most one day.I don't know what is Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa leader. I heardly hear Hausas or Igbos call someone their leader rather it is only in Yoruba land that hear this leadership nonsense. How can someone assume to lead a group of people[Yoruba is arguably the largest ethnic group in Nigeria; forget the Hausa/Fulani fake statistics] who never elected him/her to lead?. Tinubu has never called himself anybody's leader before. All these abuse are from the same people who crowned him a leader and not him.

If indeed he was referring to Tinubu as a bastard, then Bakare is bang out of order on this, I've supported his ambition due to his principles but this approach is quite petty, he is now descending to the typical Nigerian rofo-rofo fight levels.  embarassed embarassed

Hello all,

I see nit bad in the expression of pastor Bakare. The man in question is the current Asiwaju of ACN who has been aspiring to lead the Yorubas. I cant brt my life Tinubu lacks every right to lead my own tribe. he should proof to the whole world who his biologial parents are.

Who says if ghe gets the position he will not sell us out. in his usuall mannner he used the crops of electcted national assmbly members to give out the speakership position whcih belongs to the southwestner for his selfish reasons.

Tinubu is truely a bastard. Time will surely tell
Re: Pastor Tunde Bakare: A Bastard Can’t Rule The Yoruba by Agoro112: 12:08pm On Jun 16, 2011
i really dont understand how a man of God would turn the pulpit into an avenue for fighting his political enemies, it is obvious that Tunde Bakare does not know how to seperate himself being a paster and being a politician, and what has happened to he without a sin should cast the first stone. we all know both PDP and ACN are of the same breed but what gives or makes him believe that they would be different from the above when they get intot power, remember absolute power corrupts absolute man, Pastor Adeboye please go have a change of heart and know where to address appropriate issues

So all the people who sold you out to the Northerners were bastards?. Is Obasanjo a bastard?, the ooni of Ife sold out Abiola's mandate yet he is no bastard, what did you do about it?.  Why should an enlightened 21st century person like you submit to the leadership of a tribal champion who was not elected by the people?. Are we still in 15th century?.
Re: Pastor Tunde Bakare: A Bastard Can’t Rule The Yoruba by iotama22: 12:12pm On Jun 16, 2011
What's all this "Yoruba" of a thing? Please let us all look at one Nigeria and forget about one bastard Yoruba. I beg to differ on the tribalism thing; it's an already proven wild goose chase. We must see the larger Nigeria, not the divided one. Whoever made his way to the top seat and presently ruling might be God's choice for us. So let's us all support while we keep our fingers crossed till next round of elections.

I get pissed when people talk one Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo. That is the foundation of our problem. We do not see ourselves as one. People in the countries where progress is the order of their day see themselves as one. A bunch of broom tied together remains one. What I find so shocking and incomprehensible is that, "Our forest of discord does not only yield agents of dissonance, but it also breeds large population of virulently egotistical serpents." We are way too divided in this country. On this note, I therefore dissociate myself from any such group that does not have the interest of the larger Nigeria.

PDP, though it consists of overtly ignoble members and pathologically dishonorable political appointees, it remains a proven and more generous party to associate with. Let other parties liberalize their agenda; simple! Do not get me wrong, please. I am not a partisan. If a Hausa man is more 'politically proficient' than the others, let us support him and vise versa --regardless of the party to which we belong. If for instance we are able to get good gubernatorial candidate who is PDP and a CPC LGA Chairmanship candidate, let us vote them both without raising any question about their respective parties.

I will continue with this when I have time, Thanks all!

He's losing political reckoning and becoming less of a pastor with each political sermon he gives.  What's his identity really?  At the end of the day, he's neither a politician nor a pastor.

In attacking his perceived enemies, does he realise that he's also inflicting so much injury on himself?

was this what his members listened to as sermon?  what a waste of time!

a supposed-pastor categorizing human beings created by God.

why not accept u lost, and move on?

if God shows u everything, it means u disobeyed Him outrightly, by contesting know u will lose.

And if Tinubu/ACN had supported a Yoruba person as Speaker it is the same set of people that would have labelled him a tribalist because the PDP zoning arrangement is internal to them. How then can one satisfy you guys?

Also realize that the zoning of speakership position to the South West was a PDP decision and not an ACN problem.

Seriously, those supporting Bakare's comments need to have a rethink. I am more concerned with the religious angle of this story than the political one. As someone who follows the teachings of Jesus, I cannot for the life of me see any similarity in the lifestyle of Bakare and that of Jesus or even their teachings. Isn't the whole concept of Christianity supposed to support a lifestyle that emulates the teachings of Christ.

How different is this pastor from radical imams using their places of worship to spew hate. How can a man of God condemn another in such harsh terms. There is nothing constructive about Bakare's criticism, the man should just find a place to sit down. Nigerians are gradually seeing the true colours  of all these two faced prophets who use their pulpits to pursue personal ambitions. Nonsense.

BAKARE HAS GOT IT ALL MIXED UP.HE HAS JUST JUSTIFIED THE KILLING OF HARMLESS NIGERIANS JUST BECAUSE HE LOST IN AN ELECTION. THE SPIRIT OF THE DEAD CORPERS AND OTHERS WILL HUNT NOT ONLY THE KILLERS BUT PEOPLE WHO JUSTIFIES THEIR MASSACRE.THE STRUGGLE TO SEPARATE POLITICAL LEADERSHIP FROM THE CHURCH HAS BEEN WON IN THE PAST SO BAKARE SHOULD NOT TAKE US SOME DECADES BACKWARD.
I AM NOT AN APOLOGIST OF TINUBU BUT BAKARE WAS REALLY HARD ON HIM.AS FAR AS REALITY HOLDS,LEADERSHIP HAS FALLEN ON TINUBU AND THERE IS NOTHING ANYONE CAN DO ABOUT THAT. ANYBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO ASPIRE TO BE ANY THING IN LIFE BUT LEADERS ARE BORN AND TINUBU IS ONE. A BONAFIDE YORUBA MAN BY ALL STANDARDS. IF ANYBODY HAS ANY INFORMATION THAT HE DOES NOT BELONG TO THE YORUBA RACE SUCH INFO SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE .

Now,i begin to wonder if this man called TUNDE BAKARE is certainly a man of God.
I would rather call him a politician than call him a man of God.
I wonder if it thesame HOLY BIBLE that i read is thesame Bible he reads.
