The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, is demanding that Anthony Aziegbemi, the head of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Edo, recant the charge of election rigging against him.

In a statement dated September 14, Aziegbemi accused Ribadu and the Department of State Service (DSS) of being involved in a conspiracy by the Federal Government to rig the next Edo Governorship Election. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

He claimed that as part of the plot, Ribadu had given the APC candidate for governor of the state two million US dollars.

Charles Musa & Co., Ribadu’s attorneys, responded to the accusation by calling it “totally false” and demanding an instant retraction.

“We are responding to your press release headed “Edo 2024: presidency’s plot to influence, manipulate guber vote using DSS, NSA discovered” on behalf of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser (NSA) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (our client).

The letter stated, “Among other false allegations made by the publication, $2 million was ordered to be released to the APC candidate by the NSA to buy votes and bribe security agencies.”

The attorneys claimed that the false and malicious statement had led their client into public disdain and odium.

They contend that it is completely untrue and detrimental to their client’s reputation to depict him as an enabler of corruption and his office as a tool of a political party eager to wreck havoc in Edo.

As the first Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and a well-known career police officer, our client has continuously shown honesty and a dedication to combating corruption.

“That he would be part in such heinous deeds is unfathomable.

We require a written apology to our client and the complete retraction of the publication in light of the significant harm your unfounded and misleading accusations have caused.

The retraction must also be published as a full-page advertisement in at least five national newspapers, ten reliable and popular online news outlets, seven national and international television stations, and ten radio stations with a national and international audience, according to their demands.

In addition, the attorneys sought N10 billion in damages for harm to their clients’ reputations and other grievances.

They said, “Take notice that we will follow our client’s further instructions, including taking legal action to enforce his rights, if our demands are not met within seven days.”

Rekindled optimism drives up Equities by N178 billion

Yesterday, the local stock market demonstrated resiliency as its total capitalization increased by N178 billion.

The closing value of the All Share Index (ASI) was 97,025.17 points, up 310.13 points or 0.32 percent. Additionally, market capitalization closed at N55.754 trillion, up N178 billion from the previous close.

Gains in medium- and large-cap equities, such as those in Nestle Nigeria, Flour Mills of Nigeria, Oando, FBN Holdings (FBNH), and Berger Paints Nigeria, had an impact on the upturn.

Additionally, the market’s breadth closed higher with 27 equities rising and 22 falling. The two companies with the biggest price gains were FBNH and Caverton Offshore Support Group, which closed at N26.40 and N2.31, respectively, after rising by 10% and 9.99 percent, respectively, to N49.55 per share. Flour Mills of Nigeria came in third. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Nestle Nigeria saw an increase of 9.88 percent to close at N890.00 per share, while R.T. Briscoe Nigeria saw an increase of 9.93 percent to close at N3.32.

Conversely, DAAR Communication closed at 72 kobo per share, leading the losers’ list by 8.86 percent.

Universal Insurance dropped 7.69% to settle at 36 kobo per share, while Eterna trailed with an 8.14% decrease to close at N32.15.

International Breweries saw a 5.32 percent fall to conclude at N4.45, per share, while Sovereign Trust Insurance saw a 5.97 percent depreciation to close at 63 kobo.

With 9,615 trades and 390.547 million units moved, worth N7.974 billion, the overall traded volume fell by 34.91 percent. With 80.049 million shares valued at N1.475 billion, transactions involving Access Holdings shares topped the activity chart.

United Bank for Africa (UBA) traded 31.108 million shares valued at N745.582 million, while FBNH followed with 51.982 million shares worth N1.341 billion.

Zenith Bank sold 19.275 million shares for N712.450 million, while Caverton Offshore Support Group traded 23.728 million shares valued at N54.398 million.

Man becomes bus conductor after being duped of N15M for relocation to Canada

A man who was allegedly cheated out of 15 million naira he paid to a travel agency to move to Canada is making a living as a bus driver. The story of the incident was shared by X user @faleyeibrahim, who admitted to being on the bus. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

He stated that he had noticed the uncharacteristic way the bus conductor was behaving which distinguieshed him from the regular ones he knew and gave him the impression that the man was new at the job.

@faleyeibrahim stated that he observed also that the man was occassionally secretly wiping a tear or two and upon further inquiry, the man told his story.

He had been saving up to move abroad and had gathered all the cash – N15M – that he had saved to give the agent who ran away with the money.

“This morning on my way to the LASU, I boarded a bus, immediately I entered someone came down I guess the person got a call, so she requested for her change, the conductor guy was so slow at it that it almost got into a fight.

While on the journey, we all noticed that he was very sluggish and wasn’t very calculative and sharp like the other conductors.
I also noticed at some point he would cry and just wipe it and continue with the job, this happened about 3 times.

Apparently today was his first day as a conductor, he was actually duped.

He paid about 15m to an agent for relocation to Canada but they duped him. I could feel the sorrows every time he cried.

That resulted in him to start the conductor’s work, at least he would survive.

I really felt bad for him, I’m very sure many things are running through his mind, while doing the conductor job, he’s mind is not at it and I’m very sure he cried every time he remembered.

He was so handsome, everyone felt for him.

Popular Social media activist Verydarkman has called out the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for allegedly endorsing Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministries (CMDM) and his controversial miracle soap.

In a viral video, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin claimed that his miracle soap has received official approval from the government agency.

In response, Verydarkman vowed to confront NAFDAC directly, demanding clarity regarding the agency’s involvement.

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly stealing an Uber car by luring the driver with a bowl of pepper soup

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly luring drivers with a bowl of pepper soup and stealing an Uber car. The Police Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundein, confirmed this news on Saturday, July 13, 2024. According to the PPRO, on July 5th, at about 8pm, the Akinpelu Police Station received a call from an unnamed Uber driver. According to him, the driver reported that he had picked up a passenger who identified himself as Isaiah in his Toyota Corolla from an NNPC filling station in Maryland to a certain hotel in the Oshodi area. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The spokesperson noted that the suspect bought the driver a meal, pepper soup and energy drinks at the hotel. “The suspect was looking for some cotton swabs to clean his ears when the driver handed him the car keys. The driver further stated that the suspect, after picking up the car keys, went downstairs and drove the car from the parking lot. However, he was intercepted by a police team conducting a search operation at Borradale Street. “He was arrested as he was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the ownership of the vehicle,” he said. Hundeyin further said that when police officers were about to take the suspect to the station, the driver came to the scene and spotted the car. The suspect was arrested for further investigation, he said.
