Stone became a Shia Muslim and chose to be known by the Muslim first name Ali as announced at the ceremony held in the Iranian historical city of Isfahan on February 14. "The conversion to Islam is not abandoning Christianity or Judaism, which I was born with,” Stone said. “It means I have accepted Mohammad (PBUH) and other prophets," he added in a brief telephone call. Born to a Jewish father and Christian mother, Stone did not say why he converted to Islam. Stone who visited Iran several months ago said he needed to know more about Persian culture and civilization and become familiar with Iranian traditions and rituals. Stone referred to Iran as one of Asia's major filmmaking centers saying that he “would like to introduce Persian culture and civilization to the West.” The 27-year-old filmmaker is a graduate of history from Princeton University and has collaborated on many of his father's projects such as the 2004 Alexander. He has also directed a handful of documentaries. Sean is not the first renowned celebrity who has converted to Islam. The English singer and songwriter Cat Stevens converted to Islam in 1977 and adopted the name Yusaf Islam. The prominent boxer Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.) also converted to Islam in 1964. Pastor Kun: C'mon Mr Kun, I really doubt that. He probably found something he identifies with in the religion. A lot of Muslims have converted to Christianity too. As humans, some inevitably, get fed up with the norms of their society and venture out. Same happens with all faiths. |

well,the christian can whine and moan all they like.the reality is the story is genuine and not a fabricated one.whether you agree with his change of religion or not is not a problem.but at least this story should serve christians a lesson not to lie.we saw two fabricated christian missionary stories recently about one "abdullah al-sabah" and one "paul ado bayero".both men's fathers are unknown and both families do not know of those individuals.even examining their stories would make one laugh or may be throw-up.so,in this honest and authentic story about Sean Stone,the christians should learn honesty from muslims and stop forging and making up stories about muslims becoming christians.i dont deny that one could find muslims becoming christians,but at least report the genuine ones and not the drama-filled fabricated ones that are beyond ridiculous. |

Muhahahaha.  Yeah, a man who became a pagan should be posted in the front page too. Dellusion. Maybe the front page should be changed to change of faith page. There are many testemonies of Christ vision by sinners,blinded people (especially muslims) which really needs to be shared in the front page for moral and spiritual growth,and not a blind story with no spiritual impact. brentkruge: when talking about punishment for apostacy in islam,the death penalty is not prescribed as punishment in the Quran.there is no killing for apostacy.this issue is controversial even in islamic circles.that is my personal take on the issue.i believe capital punishment for apostacy is a judeo-christian tradition found in the bible where "everyone should be stoned" literally.however,if a law exists somewhere,then it must be respected.we know how you must behave as a roman when in rome.it is part of iranian law that proselythization is a criminal act.then dont go there doing it.that also does not mean that iran does not respect or protect its minorities among them christians who have being there for about 2000 years. this is the take of the Quran: "Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error: whoever rejects Taghut and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold that never breaks. jmoore: every prophet in his days was the way,the truth and the life.only Muhammad (sa) sent as a mercy to mankind as stated in the holy Quran is the way,the truth and the life of all times up to the day of judgement and even afterwards. that is exactly what Jesus (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said about Muhammad (sa). from the below also,you can see that Jesus (as) could not have taught "all truth" because of time constraint during his stay on earth and persecution he faced: John 16:12-15 12 "I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. even if you do not agree out of fanaticism that Muhammad (sa) is the prophet described as the "spirit of truth" (note that in the bible's new testament a prophet is called is a spirit and also the prophet to come is referred to as the "paraclete",my point is to show you that there is "a truth" which even Jesus (as) mentioned and accepted to be greater than him in leading people into "all truth". |

Why the "paraclete,comforter,advocate,spirit of truth" to come after Jesus cannot be the christian "holy spirit"? 1.) John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" "another" means "one like the other".which is the former? Jesus! so the next to come would be like Jesus,a prophet sent by God. Matthew 21:11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. 2.) John 16:7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you". going through the bible,we see the presence of the "holy spirit" on earth and experienced in the lives of people before the coming of Jesus (as),during his stay on earth and also after Jesus (as) left. let us say you and your brother are in the same room with visitors.your brother's name is "Y".if "Y" was with you in the same room,can you tell people that you must leave the room so that "Y" can come in and if you dont leave he would not come in (for whatever reason)? so how can Jesus (as) say if he does not go the "comforter" will not come if that comforter is already there?the "holy spirit" was already there regardless if Jesus (as) stays or leave.this means we cannot say the "comforter" is the "holy spirit".so we clear see that this person that will lead people into "all truth" is someone like Jesus (as)-a prophet- who will come newly to earth. please compare the below two verses: 1 John 2:1: "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
