To any doctor based in Lagos First, I am so sorry for intruding into this forum but i believe this is the only place where help come. I believe we all make mistakes and sometimes we take decision that are ought not to have been taking, Here is my story: My name is Nicholas, I have a lady aged 23yrs that i loved so much and we've been dating right from university years. To go straight to the point, we had unprotected sex that leads to pregnancy which had reached 4weeks of its gestation age before we noticed, we make a drastic decision of aborting the pregnancy because we are not ready for it. And the matter became worse when all the hospitals we visited refused to do the abortion for us. We were in confused state as we do not know the next thing to do. I personally resolved in searching for the drug that can abort pregnancy online which I later find (mifepristone and cytotec), we were unable to find mifepristone in pharmacy shop but we do find cytotec. She took cytotec alone (800mcg) 200mcg each. she started bleeding 30minutes later and continues like that till the following day with so much pain. She took another 800mcg 2days after as the instruction indicated and the bleeding stopped the following week. She went for scan 2weeks later and no traces of pregnancy was find. We thought that was all but she developed fever and was admitted to hospital and discharged 2days later after treatment. Ever since the abortion, she bleeds everyday continuously or the bleeding stops today and starts again the following day. She puts on pad everyday, (today 25-02-12 will make it 39th day that she's been bleeding non-stop). The bleeding sometimes will be light that she can use one pad for 2days and sometimes, 2 or 3pads in day. I went back online and read about the aftermath of the drug and checked discussion forum, some complains of bleeding for 3months even after they have consulted doctor and some even more. Please, we know we have made mistakes but we need help. She cries everyday and i do feel her pain, what can we do to solve this problem? Thanks to you all! I can be contacted on lillyadet@yahoo.com |

presfedrep:its better you keep quiet if you don't have something reasonable to contribute. Even a 500level medical student will handle this minor stuff. @OP, she nids to be evacuated. Simple! I dont want to scold you about what you have done because it is already done. My advice is that since you check online forum and u read that another lady bleed for 3months and the scan shows traces of pregnancy in your girl after she took the pill. I believe it is the negative effect of the drug. I will advice you to consult the doctor, since her life is at risk |

Probably there might be some retained product of conception(partial explanation for fever). I advise that she visits a gynaecologist. I will also want to know how many pad she changes in a day? and how soaked-up is each pad(is it dripping with blood?). A friend of mine terminated pregnancy in the same way with similar complication except fever. They promptly sought for my advice. I advised that she should take folic acid daily with a strict maintenance of personal hygiene. The bleeding stopped after a week. 1 Like |

helpee: That's just it. she needs to be evacuated to remove all those things that;s still giving the traces,though the pregnancy is already gone. I guess, it wont have been this serious, if she placed the pills under her tongue, instead of inserting it under. |

@everybody. This should be a lesson for all of us. Medicine is not learnt by correspondence on the internet or even by textbook. That is why you can even do law via part time programme but never medicine. If you read something on the net, crosscheck with the doctor. What she is having is a retained product of conception. She risk developing adhesions and subsequently asherman's syndrome if not evacuated. The pregnancy may be more than the 4wk u calculated. You don't terminate a pregnancy medically if it is more than 49days so u rather do a manual sunctioning. Or evacuation. But overall, unless you are careless, this is a minor case. Take her a good clinic around,get her evacuated and covered with broad spectrum antibiotics. This is not the time to come to a general forum and start reading opinion of laymen like yourself. Oga Lily Adet, Your girlfriend actually needs a suction. Am surprised you guys have not gone to the hospital to explain what you have done to a doctor. You can take her to any good hospital around and explain to the doctor OR if you dont have enough money, go to a teaching hospital like ULTH, UBTH, UPTH and open up to a doctor who would examine her and reccommend the suction immediately. cos she still have parts of the foetus in her that needs to be evacuated. I beg you not to waste more time cos it can be harmful on the long run. AM RECCOMMENDING THIS COS U SEEM TO CARE FOR THE GIRL. I can only hope OP and his girlfriend have been to a hospital for complete evacuation. And yes I'm all for legalised abortion as well, not all pregnancies are a result of unprotected sex, what if the condom broke without your knowledge? Plenty girls will still come online, see the name of this drug and get it even to abort pregnancies above 10 weeks just because they cannot get it done safely at the hospitals and also cannot keep the baby. |

@ OP, those two drugs work together, the other is placed inside the virgina after 48 hours, you should not have used it when u could not complete the two drugs, just go to a nice hospital and get ready to spend cash, |

@lillyadet: PRAY! PRAY!! PRAY!!! Meanwhile, act like an adult which you are and go outu there & seek for help. Don't just sit down there like a slowpoke & expect help to come to you. In fact, It's disappointing to just give your contact e-mail & wait for someone who can be of help to come to you! Go out there! Sorry to say but your gf is in for it & this can cost her her dear life if you don't act fast. Her system needs to be cleansed. Something should also be done about the remaining traces of pregnancy in her blood. Also, it might be a case of allergy to that Cytotec. The common truth is that most of these drugs have negative side effects. Try going back to those doctors that refused to carry out the abortion and narrate your ordeal to them. Thay should be willing to help this time around. Or perhaps search for the solution on the internet just aš you got to kήow about Cytotec & co.
