Save the lives of others having not saved their own lives first?? Let's be humane for once and put ourselves in the shoes of others before criticizing them!
Doctors are simply asking for something as basic as the salaries they already worked for & the government fulfilling her part of agreements reached with the Doctors in the past, and nothing more!
go and check the code of conduct of the doctors. It says save life first before asking any question. Just as Jesus told us to seek the kingdom of God first then everything will be added to us.

Life savers are very important people. Anyone / govt that fails to treat them as such is the real enemy not the life savers. Only Jesus saved others by loosing his own life.

You're still missing it sir, but I'll school you a little by referring you to this line in the WMA DECLARATION OF GENEVA -

"...I WILL ATTEND TO my own health, well-being, and abilities in order to provide care of the highest standard;..."

Wrong headings, maintaining status quo is not the same as calling off the strike. The current status quo is strike

you statement read: I will attend to my health first! They didn't go for strike because they are sick or attending to their health. They went to strike because they want an increase on their allowances, not even salaries.

No be by force.

But why should tax payers who they didn't treat pay them for the period they didn't work ?
Did you pay them for the the number of months they worked before ? Why are you this dense ?

Your line of argument is indeed very weak & funny, but I'll be patient with you.

And I'm still bewildered on why you decided to pick out only "health" in that line, leaving out "well being" & "ability".

Even at that, I'll still school you about what it means to be healthy by referring you to the WHO definition of health -

Health, according to the World Health Organization, is "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity."

A hungry Doctor who cannot take care of himself and/or his family (because his/her employer has refused to do the needful) is not physically, socially and mentally okay to take care of his patients.
In fact, such a Doctor is a danger to his patients at that point in time!

How is it valid, how can a hungry physician treat patients, do you want them to commit irreversible medical jargon?

Cos it is coming from a competent court. And can only be reversed/vacanted by another court of superior jurisdiction

By the way, i sympathize completely and agree with the doctors. But the law is the law

you should know that the only money that federal government is pay to d doctors which they have already been paid is their salaries. Additional allowances is left to the employer to decide. Mind you they are on strike not because of salaries.
They only want additional allowances which the federal government asked them to give them time.
Pls go and read their requirements before arguing on this topic.

I implore you to take time to dig out credible information before depositing such on a public space like this forum, so you don't misinform others. If you've taken your time to go through the demands that led to this current strike, you will agree with me that one very disturbing issue is that Doctors are being owed salaries between 2-19 months across the country; so the strike was not borne out of a demand for an increment in pay. They're simply asking that they be paid the salaries they've toiled & laboured for these past months.

Well in Nigeria, laws and order can be disobeyed, starting from the President who has disobeyed court orders. They should let the striking doctors be or they should order the Fed gov.to meet with their demands

oga please ask any federal government doctor if his salaries is not been paid as at when due. It is only some state goverments like ABIA and RIVER'S states that are owing them salaries. So why do they go on strike nation wide? I can confidently tell you that federal government of Nigeria is not owing medical doctors one kobo from their salaries. Go and check!

So the Doctors working in the state are not human beings? And because they don't work with the FG automatically means they should be ignored & not paid for those number of months?? Where indeed is our humanity & compassion??

But again, sorry to disappoint you! I've tried to keep my identity low throughout the course of our conversation but it seems I'll let a bit out now, since you have remained recalcitrant to simple line of reasoning and has failed to do your research properly before coming to this public space.
I'm a Resident Doctor in one of the renowned FG teaching hospitals and I'm currently being owed 4 months salary. Several of my other colleagues in my centre and other FG hospitals across the country are also being owed.

If this is still not enough to convince you to change your odd perception about the current Resident Doctors' strike, then I'm sorry I cannot help you any further & will no longer dignify you with any response.

It is hereby ordered that claimant/applicant and the defendant/respondent suspend all forms of hostilities forthwith pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.” How is this an order for the Resident Doctors to suspend their strike? Who is hostile here in fact? Doctors? Of course not!!! The hostile ones are the ones that will say there shall be no medical tourism, but they are the same ones spending Nigeria's money abroad for check up. The hostile ones are the one threatening not to pay doctors that sacrifice so much but they (the politicians) receive so much for doing nothing. The hostile ones are the ones that receive humongous allowances running into millions per month while the doctors receive N5000 per month for being in the front line.
Sometimes, I feel that the law that used to be blind now looks before swinging the sword. Otherwise, some of the people we have as "elected" leaders should not have been so named "elected" by the courts.

Look, e don do e don do. You've really schooled him and I hope going forward he will add this argument to his own library so that he will be able to argue for, and not against.

It's simple, sincerely. How will a worker not be paid his wages and he is expected to keep working all in the name of "saving lives"? From my experience, by the time someone starts quoting this "you have to save life first" phrase, it is usually aimed at CHEATING you and EXCUSING their own lack of responsibility in their contract to you.

He does not need to mention any hospital to satisfy an apparent lassitude. The Internet is there for anyone to verify. I as a person also vets his claim as credible.

If the testament from the two of us isn't enough to convince you, then please go on believing what you want to.
