I undeestand what he is trying to say, the vehicle jerks forward after engaging which is not too good eapecially in a filling station when when cars are parked next to each other. I once experienced that in my former honda, not funny at all
How did you fix this and what is the most likely cause of this please?

POSH007:
Hello house,I have been having a serious issue with 2010 toyota camry , v6 , 22 pin gearbox for the past two months now and I need help and advise. I was traveling and on my way I discovered my engine was revving but my accelarator was stalk on 60, so I stopped, off the car and put it back on but it didn't engage in drive or reverse so I had to roll the car,the gearbox mechanic said my oil pump , filter and torque converter was bad so we changed all of it and put WS oil. It worked but it was in one gear, so we got another TCM gearbox brain box and then it selected but right now whenever am entering gear 2 at Lowes speed , the car jerks and when am deaccelerating, it jerks when its about to come to gear 2 , also it like it using power to pick up when in drive. Another gearbox mechanic said we have to change valve body because in addition to the previous problem when the car is parked over night , it won't reverse or it sluggish when entering reverse , he said its the valve body that is making it jerk when entering gear 2 and also making it not entered reverse. I have spent close to 200k fixing this gearbox, I know realize I would have been patient, save up and buy a new gearbox but right now am totally broke, the last money I have is what am about to give him to change the valve body because he said using a bad valve body can lead to burning the fibre. Please anybody out there with similar problem using 22 pin gearbox to please advise me.
Thanks

Hi Car Doctor and gurus in the house.
My Camry 2007 is not engaging gears.
The transmission auto guy did say he would replace the fiber and the oil sill for the oil leakage instead if getting a new gearbox. What would you recommend pls?

Hi Car Doctor and gurus in the House. I drive a Toyota Corolla 2012, in feb while I was servicing the vehicle, we discovered my gear oil was leaking, the mechanic told me there is a small rubber thats slack and we changed it and top the oil. Everything was normal until I started noticing sound under the hood(drivers side) especially when I'm turning/or about to move from a spot(click sound). He told me the "pebble"/ "gebble" needs to be changed and that they will have to call gear specialist. Please help me I don't want them to spoil my gearbox. I tried goggling the so called pebble around shaft/gear. No search result returned.

Reading this thread,i feel sorry for a lot of guys.Either out of ignorance or stinginess ;they end up throwing away hard earned money.Replace gear oil with quality fluids(they will say it is expensive but buying a new gear wont be expensive).Until people change their orientation about maintenance they will continue to lose money

Please car doctor and car gurus in the house my Lexus RX 350 2010 came up with the following code after diagnosis; P0713 C1210 C1441. In addition I noticed that the gear shifting is not normal and it highly noticeable now whenever it's shifting gear unlike before. Kindly help me out with the solution please.

Old Post though but this is one of the signs of an under filled transmission.

Old Post but others may benefit. I guess you end up changing the transmission.
You may have had issues with the clutch or bands.

It could have been an electrical wiring issue too. This type of fault requires solenoid logic (of the particular car) studying.

Re: Automatic Gearbox Problems by EngRichie: 8:36am On Sep 26, 2021
Possible causes:

1. Low transmission fluid
2. Over filled transmission
3. Wrong transmission fluid type
4. Transmission cooling problems
5. Transmission temperature sensor/wiring

cardoctor:
Automatic gearbox issues have become a reoccuring decimal to any automatic car owner. Slow take off, sluggish acceleration, lack of kick down, loss of drive while in motion, lack of gear change, aggressive gear changes, high engine revs without power in drive just to name a few.

From my observation and the complaints made by some of our customers, these problems usually start from a gearbox oil change that was recommended by the mechanic who then uses the wrong type of ATF oil for the transmission.

Most car manufacturers develop their own ATF formular for their cars.

Honda recommends their own formular ATF-z1 for their gearboxes manufactured between 1998 to 2009 and upgraded to the ATF-Dw1 for gearboxes manufactured from 2010 upwards.

Toyota uses the Type 4 ATF for their cars manufactured between1996 to 2007 and the Toyota WS ATF for ones manufactured between 2007 to present.

Most other car manufactures have also upgraded the type of ATF for their modern cars.

Using the wrong grade of ATF would almost certainly result in a failing transmission. Low grade ATF may not be able to handle the high temperature operations operations of a gearbox. Under very high temperatures, low grade oil loses its fluidity and may begin to boil causing loss of hydraulic functions by frothing or foaming.

Some remedies I have seen used by local mechanics is to further add engine oil to the gearbox in order to thicken the viscosity of the ATF. This in turn puts the pump under great stress as the thicker oil would require more effort from the pump in distributing the oil under high pressure as well as the oil filter which is usually embedded within the transmission gear train. (The removal and changing of all Honda transmission oil filter would require the removal of the gear box from the car and stripping down the gearbox)

The resulting consequence would be an imminent and extreme overheating of the transmission and components such as the friction plates and a rapid degradation of the wet clutch fibres hence the loss of drive, slipping clutch and rough gear changes.

Replacing the gearbox or a total overhaul by an expert would be the likely solution but before then, an inexperienced mechanic would Send you on a wild goose chase by suggesting the removal and servicing or outright replacement of shift solenoids on the outer casing of the gearbox. These solutions Don't last as its just a temporal remedy to a terminal issue.

We constantly repair these gearboxes and those of other makes to a very high standard with 99.9% success rate and we recommend that if you are having serious issues with your automatic gearbox, ensure that the appropriate procedures are followed.

Car-Doctor.

I drive a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander, which ATF will you recommend I use.

Thanks

Things we hear from kazeem.
People should not be giving their cars to anyhow mechanics. They must have worked on it with dirty hands. Just scan and share codes.

Like low fluid level.
Let a mechanic check the fluid level first then check for other possible causes.

I drive Avalon dashboard 2013

I don’t know how to explain it but let me explain as a novice .

When it’s on gear 1 it will drag before it enters gear 2

Also, when I’m speeding , sometimes it will just accelerate but it’s not moving ( it seems as if all the selections went to neutral )

Sometimes when I try forcing it to change gear , the speedometer will get to 3/4 before it changes and then makes a sound “kpum”

The one that shocked me was last night , it was on gear one ohhh till I got home .

I’m in Enugu . Please if you know any good mech I can take this car to, kindly help

Na my wife car. And she no even tell me until when I drove the car myself and started noticing all these things

Another one is that if I put the car on “D” it will jerk/jump

Guy dey manage your 10 pin ooo....all these grammar them dey blow for u here just to scare u I wonder what they want 2 achieve.
13 pin is usually problematic. My friend replaced his knocked 13 pin gear with another same 13 pin....not up to three weeks it's already given him problem finally he has opted for a 10 pin. Now listen, with proper wiring the only gear that will be missed is the 5th gear which I don't think u will need all d time, na for where u wan fly go.....these our useless bad roads? So plz as long as u have a healthy 10 pin that shifts seamlessly from 1 - 4 my brother u are good ooo. Am not saying 13 pin is not desirable or is bad what am saying is 10pin on a 13 pin gear is equally not pad it d rewire do a good job. Biko na grand Prix race u dey run?

Please i need solution.
My lexus rx 350 2010 always show “transmission oil high temperature” if i drive in the high way in high speed within 30 to 50 minutes drive,i have replaced the radiator to double cell, changed the gear box oil with toyota WS severally, even attempted to add additional cooler yet nothing changed.
Apart from the warning on the dash board everything works 100% perfectly,at a point i decided to ignore it and wait for the day the gear box will go bad and i can replace it.
No check engine, the car have also been diagnosed and there is no fault code.
Re: Automatic Gearbox Problems by galaxi(m): 4:58pm On Nov 11, 2021
Yes,
The car is ok now.
I installed rx300 transmission (gear) box cooler and it’s working perfectly ok now.

The reason the previous cooler I installed did not work was because it was wrongly positioned.

I called Gazzuzu and he directly me at the exact location to install the cooler.

Solution:
Get a Lexus rx300 or rx330 transmission(gear) box cooler (bought it 10k then), check at the left hand side (driver’s side) under the front bumber, there is a space provided for it.

There is a pipe that takes the hot transmission oil directly to the radiator from the transmission (gear) for cooling, instruct the technician to connect the pipe in a way that it gets into the cooler first before going into the radiator.
Most of the Lexus rx350 2010 to 2015 did not come with a transmission cooler from factory and the radiator are not capable enough to cool the transmission oil due to our hot weather condition here.

Oh my God. They have contaminated your gear box. Dirt has entered through the CV joint. You have to stop driving that car like that and look for a specialist. They may need to clean the valve body and flush the entire transmission and replace with original Toyota WS
