Pls connect me to a good mechanic in Benin. P0125 & P0128 codes are showing on scan. I have to disconnect one of the fans at the moment to make the coolant warm up a bit.

Boss Abeg, you fit connect me to a better mechanic in Benin to help return my thermostat and fan to factory setting.

Almost all the mechanics I met in Benin advice against it.

I googled and found one toyota franchise workshop called A. A. Autos, they claimed to send for the thermostat from Briscoe Lagos at 22k, labor etc =15k.totalling 37k. I paid n dropped d car for them to fix when the thermostat gets to them.

Called them the next day and the main Engr was blabbing my car doesn't need thermostat cos it's double fan radiator, that they fixed the thermostat and the temp is crossing the middle mark. So they removed it. I was mad cos I already paid them the full amount. I asked him to check another thermostat rated 82°C and to bleed the radiator after change, he called back n complained of same high temp and not ready to burn my gasket.

The guy even claimed he is using same car and his car is not using thermostat. At that point I gave up and took my car with d thermostat and left.

Your coolant problem is more than a thermostat issue.

What else could be wrong, there is no leakage or fluid shortage in the radiator

Change the front O2 sensor.. I also got that open loop due to insufficient engine temp.. although mine also brought out an error code for air/fuel ratio sensor

So I changed the O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1.. and that fixed it..

I have a similar story too...

mine has 2 radiators and the vehicle is without a thermostat. I took it to a mech to install a thermostat for me but was told to leave it because of the Nigeria weather (in my own case, the engine temperature runs cooler and hardly reaches the middle mark)...

I dont know if I should continue using it that way or not. How safe and true is this?

But no O2 sensor code is thrown up on scanning.

From Google search I think the P0125 is pointing at faulty Engine coolant temperature sensor a. K. a "cold start switch"

Don't want to be throwing parts around. Wanna be sure

Work on installing the thermostat first, then check to see if the P0125 code pops up after that...

It's not ideal for the engine. You can imagine my temp gauge on a cold rainy day being on the cold zone day in day out. The fuel consumption too is another headache.

The issue is getting a qualified mechanic to fix it. Oga GAZZUZZ is in far Lagos.

According to them, no code came up after installing the thermostat but, the temperature gauge was rising far beyond d middle mark while idling. So they have to stop the testing and removed it.

Do you mean it consumes more fuel when the engine is too cold?

Yea, the engine coolant temp sensor keeps sending signal to the ECU that the engine is not yet operating at normal temp, the ECU keeps sending signal to pump more fuel to achieve that purpose.

The temp gauge is supposed to be at the middle gauge for normal operating engine temp

I finally discovered the connector o .

It was lying in front of the compressor all this while..

I was looking for it same place my previous 03 Camry downstream sensor connector was, it appears this model is different.

Thanks again bro

Good morning chairman, please I need your help with a 2006 toyota Corolla, it keeps overheating. I have taken it to different mechanics in benin, non seems to be able to fix it. The overheating recently burnt the gasket and water started pumping out from the exhaust. Gave it to a mechanic, fixed the gasket and he tried to fix the overheating problem still, it keeps coming up. The engine gets so hot I feel it inside the car in the driver seat and front passenger seat. It's so hot around the gear stick area and between the two front seats. Please what might be the problem?

Bro any update?

Pls, I want to ask, my car gasket has been changed by previous owner, possibly cos of overheating..

I asked the cause thou, he said he didn't noticed on that is fan weren't working hence the reason for the blown gasket..

Now my question is this, can I still get the fan return back to factory settings??

If yes, won't it have any effects on the new gasket? Cos I had my mech looked at it sometimes ago and he simply inspected the gasket and concluded that NO.

I had to run on a single fan in other to avoid PO128 and maintain car temperature gauge staying in the middle...

If the head cylinder was taken to a machine shop and properly skimmed you have no issues. If not you might see milkyway with a touch of misfires after a few days. wink

Check and make sure your catalytic converter is not blocked. Sometimes, this causes the symptoms you are describing.
Also make sure your fans are pulling air into the engine and not blowing air out of the engine bay.

Ok bro

Thanks..

As regard the downstream O2 sensor, just as I updated some days ago, the socket I saw was and is it's connector...

I just removed the cut out plug now..

If you look at the picture I uploaded earlier, you'd discover that its own downstream O2 sensor is located right below the front catalyst converter, almost an inch away..

Thanks bro.

when I get same vehicle type, I will show you where to find the connector.

I just changed my radiator today and I have sworn that I will never buy from dealer again. Na iaai be my next target. What remai ns now is to check if my engine has thermostat and if my groundnut has not been removed. Cos my engine na 3.0 and if I buy fuel of 3k,my tank is 6k full. If I buy fuel of 3k,na just for that day. Me sef do taya. But I have changed it to factory radiator,it remains for the to disconnect the direct fan cos mine na double cell. But on jepo. I no fit afford am. I have done every, even sef I bought better gas mileage liquid. No diff. My former Honda was giving me 14mpg,but this one if I dey city na 5 to 10mpg. Highway 15. Me don taya. I shall never buy accidented car again, esp if na front impact.
