RIP to the dead. These loan apps are a big menace. They even use automated calls now. I got one last week. I don't even know the person they claimed is my friend who borrowed money.
But Why do people find it difficult to repay their debts.

A Twitter user has narrated how he lost his friend to suicide after being blackmailed by a certain loan shark. According to the tweep, his friend collected loan from these sharks and in order to retrieve their money back, they sent blackmailing messages to his family and friends including his girlfriend. Man snapped.
Pictures below.

"Buried a friend yesterday morning. He took his life largely because he went to borrow money from an online company and when he defaulted they sent messages to his friends and family members including members of his girlfriends family; something snapped I believe and that was it."
Fake stories on Twitter, make up stories , call the name of the loan app and the messages they sent , no evidence , this is not true.

I know someone who took to settle some expenses as a private company employee.
He was earning good money and then covid happened and he was relieved with no severance pay..
I know you might want to ask if he has no savings or that, oga mi, Nigeria Don worse pass as you think am o, family men now they wish they do things differently

If he was earning good, he should have saved some money or have investment like shares that he can liquidate to keep him going before he gets another job.
But we know Nigerians with our big man mentality, when people get a job that pays fairly good. Boom it is take loan to by a flashy ride that even if the ride develops a major fault, they will have to borrow to get it fix.

Why will I kill myself because of money that's not even up to a million? I will just hold back the money and never pay after the blackmail. That's my damages.

I've been a victim of this also; a bad experience but not worth killing yourself. No matter what, it's against the law for financial institutions to share your loan information publicly even if you owe a billion. They only take advantage because they believe most Nigerians don't know their right. If you've been a victim of this loan sharks, send a complaint mail to Lender's taskforce- lenderstaskforce@fccpc.gov.ng and copy NITDA- info@nitda.gov.ng

Like the last tweet says 'abeg just die this matter'

You signed an agreement and you defaulted.
Have any of us ever read their terms and conditions to see why they really go ahead with defamation and the govt is not doing anything.

I can say it's part of the terms u signed.
Though I don't have any proof of it but with the looks of it I think so

I just checked the terms and conditions by Okash a loaning firm see the images below.
From this, can we conclude that the defamation of character and possible deduction from any account linked to the bvn is legal undecided undecided
emergencies contacts are either two or max 3. If the messages are limited to only 2 or 3 persons, it can be manage, they contacts all contacts on your phone book which is against the term and condition.

The lady advising victims to report knows what she’s talking about.

These loan apps are referred to as loan shark apps because they engage in predatory lending targeted at the poor post Covid19 lockdown. Hence the brazen resort to blackmail tactics.

Their interest rates are way above the CBN recommendations. More so, google has an updated Aug 2019 policy that does not support personal loan apps that require full payment on or before 60 days.

An investigation by Business day equally turned up Chinese directors on some loan app company boards.
So I guess patronizing them makes you no different from ur president.

The young man’s death is unfortunate, but it was powered by ignorant frustrations and needless shame.

You can only provide two persons as emergency contact. That does not give them access to all your contacts in the name of emergency contact. What's bad has no other name than bad.

Thank you. They are in the same WhatsApp group. They like to borrow but hate to pay. The want to push the narrative the the loan app killed him so that Gov will deal with the loan apps.

Having peace of mind is very easy for ladies. The deceased mentioned above is a male who had no peace of mind due to unending challenges, just like what every other Nigerian guys go through. Suicide is for lazy people who choose death as back out lol

They said they may contact his or her emergency contact......... So all the numbers on his phone were emergency contacts?

Sending those vile messages are ideal means of contacting any emergency contacts?

Taking a loan is not the issue, but how productive will that loan be. Always put in mind that loans are meant to act as seed capital to bring more money. Even if it is to buy pure water and sell, make it yield more money.

Don't forget that Muhammad buhari is a debtor....every loaners have a right to pay off his/her debts.if you lend me a cash, never you uses it as a threatening because it'll encourage me not to refund it back to you.muhammed buhari has not pay off his debts....n-power has not pay off their debts....as a giver,be patient with your debtors and be praying for him/her to refund your money back to you.arresting your debtors is not a solution to your problem.nigerian's leader are debtors.as far as nigerian is concerned, everyone is a debtors.the company is a king of debtors.be a suicider is not the best solution to your problem.

If you don't have the means to pay back loan, don't take.that's all.

OK. Does that justify informing other parties who are not aware of loan agreement? That is blackmailing.

Some stories I heard.. Some will even send the money to them, they will claim they didn't see it,and still go ahead blackmailing them..
You are very correct.

I have witness firsthand, some one that told me how they blackmailed him. Sent several unpritintable stuffs about him to every one he knows...including those in the village. He told me he paid one particular time and they claimed they didn't see it.
