Whatever works for her, the kids and her family.

In a place like Nigeria, it might be hard for her to get back into the system whenever she is done with childbearing.

There are husbands that make their wives feel safe. If one is blessed with a man like that, you can afford to make certain sacrifices and not feel like your very essence was taken from you.

Sadly at my last count there are just 5 of them in Nigeria. smiley

Not all jobs can accept a pregnant woman. Pregnancy is a health case. Teachers in federal government schools can get a leave called maternity leave. But for the sake of your husband unborn baby, NAVY won't let pregnant female staffs to take serious post on battle ship, they might leave for the time being and take post on land than the sea. When she give birth, she might stay home for a while

That's actually not Proper. you can still go ahead with your career and Have children. it shouldn't deprive one her career. The only reason you may think of quiting is if the career is too demanding. you can actually get a freelancing career where you will be able to work at the comfort of your home and make money.

We are creating a dangerous society by women building their careers . Leaving the children unattended to. Freelancing, content creator is a good one cos ud soend more time with your kids. Leave the offices for men. If you check the society of today compared to the 50s , ud see that leaving kids to be raised by people with unknown characters is killing society. Children of these days are being too violent and disrespectful

Re: Should Women Put Their Career On Hold When Having Children? by Ouchbabe(f): 1:44pm On Feb 22, 2022
If the career is too demanding, she can actually slow down a bit by getting a job like teaching that will give her time for her children.
Using myself as an example, my previous job was too demanding, I had to resign and pick up teaching job. Salary from teaching is so small so I added other side hustle. I sell perfume oils. I'm a very good cook so I just started an online restaurant where I cook, pack and deliver foods to people within my locality ( Lekki, VGC, Ajah, Sangotedo and environs). My customer base is still very small but I'm pushing, hoping that God will pick my call soon

Marry a provider man so you can raise your children. Any man with small sense knows it is his job to bring home the bacon so mother can focus on kids and her business but definitely not KPI driven career at the expense of thier kids.
The society benefits when mum stays at home to raise her kids. Sending a good human into the society is a gift women give the society.

Personally, after 3 months maternity leave, Im returning to my career.

I don't see any reason I should drop my career, will work the two together. The baby will sha chop
This is just the normal practice I witnessed with my mom growing up...I won't support dropping everything just to raise kids....Almost every career job permits maternity leave...So no need stressing it for years only to return like a rookie.

Maternity leave is not enough.
There's 9 months of pregnancy, and maternity leave is mostly just 3 months after birth.
A 3 month old baby still requires round the clock care and monitoring.
Plus frequent hospital visits.
Where do you keep the baby while you return to work? The baby needs to be breastfed multiple times during the day, as well as at night.
Some jobs are actually very demanding. Some jobs require travelling a lot. Imagine some new mums stuck in traffic for hours while trying to get home to a crying, hungry and sick baby.
Now, add the experience of having twins, or having a toddler and nursing a child, or having 3 kids and nursing the fourth.
Women give up a lot.

Now to be sincere raising children is not the responsibilities of women alone. Its the responsibility of both the woman and the man. So before you take any step, you need to discuss with your partner. Depending on your kind of job. Eg if you are an air hostess for example, and you are just say 2 years on the job, you guys can agree and plan towards the best time to start having babies. On the other hand if your job allows you to progress in your career and also run the family then the husband must be super supportive.

A happy wife is a happy home also a happy husband will will be a blessed home too. No woman should abandon their life and career totally.

This act of abandoning career to raise children affected most women in our parents generation. It affected their mental health seeing their peers running top organizations while their only title is Mummy Maria. Some left high paying jobs, good career etc and today majority of them are regretting it.

Raising children should be an agreement between the couples and men should be more supportive. Also both should be understanding and ready to make sacrifices.

We shouldn't only limit marriage for procreation alone. It goes beyond that. Good Marriages produces awesome children.

You actually made a salient point here.

Age, marriage, child birth, if not carefully planned can adversely affect a woman's career.

If both can go hand in hand, she should do both, if not, take a break and come back stronger. A woman was made to have children and also a career

There's a difference between a career and a job. Those who worry about "halting their career" because of children/family more often than not do not have a career. What you have is a job and you're scared of losing it. Those who have real careers or career goals to pursue do not worry unecessarily. Meaningful careers already make provisions for the two to work in tandem, with sound work-life balance. In essence, careers and babies can work together.

I feel my wife is doing too much taking care of me and waking up so early to cook. sometimes i try to help her cook but the foods always turn into a comedy. this is my story....
i try singing r-kelly for her but she begs me to stop. maybe the songs are too sweet i dont know
but i wont give up. im dreaming of cooking her fried rice and singing Joe( i wanna know) for her tonight
