More details have emerged on how two widows, Mrs Martina Osom and Mrs Rose Akom were tortured to death by youths on Saturday, August 27 in Ebbaken community in Boje, Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Photos obtained by GRASSROOT REPORTERS shows one of the aged women tied with sticks while the other was set ablaze.

GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered that the women who are Catholics were returning from early morning prayers when the youths accused them of initiating a member of the community into witchcraft.

They had ordered the women to confess that they are witches.

An eyewitness had told Vanguard that:
“They were both tied with strong ropes and beaten in the rain all through the day until they died."

This dastard act is an attestation that Nigeria is a huge ungoverned space inhabited majorly by barbarians and savages.

Imagine what the helpless women went through. The ordeal, the torture, the trauma.

The local authorities failed them. The traditional institutions failed them. The police failed them.

Nigeria happened to them in the most gruesome manner.

Truth be told the concept of witchcraft is spiritually universal. While the Holy book says ''Suffer not a witch to live" it's doesn't guarantee protection for the executioner of the verdict because of our common laws. It's better we leave justice for God to do.

More than 80% of African women are in one form of witchcraft or the other. Having totems like Birds, Cats, Serpents, Fishes, Lioness, Vultures etc. The deep secrecy involved in the craft makes it easier for them to evade detection and treatment.

Only privileged few amongst humans are chosen and gifted with discernment to know about witchcraft and still keeping their divine purity.
