Detained for 12 days for not being able to answer detailed questions about his course. Is this one of Suella's ways of reducing number of international students?

There are many letting agent offices around Shawlands Arcade. Just walk the street from Granary inwards and pop in/out of the offices at will.

Thank you, I will check there,

Please for someone that came in with Visa Credit USD, where can I possibly make withdrawals pls, within Shawlands and Glasgow City center or anywhere Glasgow.

This thread has been overtaken by the same topics and the same questions for far too long. It has lost its intentions and appeal maybe a different thread needs to be created to answer most of these visa issues. This is just my personal observation.

Hi Mimi,

I got a Band 3 HCA offer but the HR lady I'm liaising with says that they don't sponsor that level unless I'm earning £25060 and that HCA is not on shortlist occupation list. But based on what you've just posted, I see she isn't correct. Can I challenge this with her, and go ahead to request for sponsorship. I really want d job, cos it has prospect for career growth, which is my main focus.

Message her politely (just because you said 'challenge' - make you no go offend your helper cheesy) with a coherent, succinct summary of the points you want to make and then link to the Home Office guidance documents (and if possible cite specific sections). This is because your message may likely be forwarded to a 'higher-up' manager who'll have less time sifting through long messages or documents.

Most of these people (unless they are in HR) aren't familiar with these things and once you make it clear it's quire straightforward, they'll typically be more amenable.

Best of luck.

Honestly, If I had seen this your comment last year I would have disagreed, but with what I've seen on this platform. I'm honestly worried. It's as if people are scared to strive for more. Platforms like Indeed, LinkedIn, Total Jobs, Glassdoor etc post great jobs every minute. I pray our people stop settling because being stuck with bad pay all in the name of Tier 2 visa and ILR is worrisome. sad

Have you forgotten the great " £20k pay" argument of few months ago?

Fair point. Two questions though:

1. What was the original intention and appeal of this thread?

2. Can you kindly raise topics that will re-ignite the "appeal" of the thread?

Lool, well, I didn't see any deviation from the topic. I understand that the current conversation may not interest many of us, but I think it's definitely within "life of an immigrant in the UK", I may be wrong. If a "better" topic comes up, we'd all be sure to jump in if we can.

If you think it's too specialised, you can ask the mod to create a new thread for "switching visas" and "career conversations" but till then, you may have to "manage". grin

The reason why this is a hot topic is because Tens of Thousands of people have their Tier 4 Visas expiring in January. After January, it'll subside.

Also, this thread is like an encyclopedia, almost all other issues have been addressed so no need of repeating them. After these career conversations, people can always refer to them in future too.

We've had lots of modules grin : IPTV, Cars, Housing, Credit Card, Weather, Banking, etc. I guess this is the module on "NHS Career Visa Sponsorship"

So any bank ATM should do. Be careful to use only bank ATMS though because the card cloning here is insane.

Hello House,

How can one scale the hurdle of getting second proof of address and 1 proof of identity.

Banks/Jobs are all demanding for these and it's becoming frustrating.

I'm barely 5 weeks in town and all I have is NIN mail from DWP and BRP. I'll appreciate guide/suggestions.

Thanks,

I like how easy it is for you to judge from the comfort of your home. I didn't pay to collect TB cert. I paid to get a date, after mailing them for weeks. Did you see where I said that even people that went to their office in Ikeja couldn't get appointment? I should go and book hotel indefinitely till I can get date? Queue in the harsh weather for hours while not being sure of a positive result? Okay.

Afternoon Elders,

Is claim for help with health costs (NHS) for Optical Lens, Dental and others part of public fund? I got to know that I can get NHS Certificates for discount payments for my glasses and that of my children.

I also received a mail from my children’s school on Scottish child payment. I guess this will be from public fund. Help clarify too.

Finally, are those on PSW allowed to benefit from public funds?

Thanks

The bolded applies to just children. If you are claiming discount on dental treatment and prescription glasses, it's 100 percent public forms. It's even clear whilst completing the applicable forms.

Scottish child payment is also public funds. No, those on post study cannot claim public funds.

Why the fascination and desperation about claiming public funds?? As someone as rightly pointed out, these benefits are for the most vulnerable in the society.

Genuine advice: work on building your career and earning capacity rather than chasing stipends in the name of public funds.

grin People also need to remember that no employer is under any obligation to do anyone's bidding. Let's just be open-minded about these things, if any employer refuse to sponsor visa, kindly move on. I was on the verge of landing an NHS Band 8 job but for visa sponsorship.

There are costs associated with this thing hence most employers give funny reasons not to do it.
