What's the logic of siting oil refinery in Lagos but the oil is produced in Niger Delta?
Is there no land in SS and What's the cost of transporting crude oil from Rivers state to Lagos..
My Niger Delta brothers Igbos are better than you people at least if the oil is located in SE nobody can try this shit

I am from the ND but This is a stupid post.
Up till recently, there is oil in Nigeria Delta but refining abroad.

At least Nigeria now has a refinery, my only problem is that the refining is done in an already congested state, that refinery was supposed to be in another state like Kano or PH with a good road network and less traffic congestion.

Foreigners come to buy crude oil in Nigeria and ship it to refineries in Europe but it’s now a crime to buy crude oil from Niger delta and ship to a refinery in Lagos. Dude, your bigotry stinks.

Dangote refinery is not govt owned, it is owned by a businessman and he choose where to site his business.

India has oil refinery, yet no crude oil deposit in the country, tell us why.

There is oil in Yorubaland. There's oil in Lagos state, Ondo state, Ogun state and our Itsekiri cousins in Delta.

Dangote is visionary and knows that Yorubaland will accept him and Yorubaland will bless his endeavour. Dangote, unlike you, does not hate the Yoruba and does not dabble into Yoruba politics.

Another Refinery is already in the pipeline and will be sited in Yorubaland too. Just watch out for it.
God bless Nigeria.

The same license they gave to Dangote was given to your Niger Delta brothers but they prefer to build Hotels and petrol stations.

Dangote choose Lagos for many reasons, militancy and collection of deve were some of the reasons he ran away from Niger Delta states

I will only reply to a comment from Niger Delta person
Niger Delta are setting SS/SE aback
Refineries are built where oils are produced
Nigeria will never invest in Niger Delta they'll only degrade their land

Dangote considered Ondo first, later Ogun state but could not get good deal especially host community wahala. Tinubu and fashola encouraged him to come to Lagos and gave better deal

Lagos is the best for the project:

1. The refinery could easily export refine product from the location

2. Lagos consume largest volume of oil in Nigeria. So the refinery is closed to the market

If you are not interested in selling NigerDelta crude oil and making your revenue, Ivory Coast and Ghana, and Equatorial Guinea Crude oil will complement the crude oil in Ondo and Lagos as source for the Dangote Refinery.

Make I hear say you no gree sell.

Such a project does not even need to be close to any market.
Even if he does it in Kogi, buyers will come.

Remove Lagos and Ogun states from the list.
States that don't receive 13% derivatives have no crude oil in commercial quantity.

As for the question OP asked, I think Niger Delta states are not serious. They have used violence to destroy their region. That's the route SE is taking now. Nobody sites businesses in a volatile environment.

Niger Delta states are the biggest losers of one Nigeria project because they give so much and get so little in return. Even at that, they cannot account for the little they receive.

You have no idea how much Niger Delta gets.
We have 13% derivation, we get the highest state allocations and we have NDDC and many other that are always funded with billions yet nothing to show for it.
Go and look at Bayelsa state, it's like a village

We know Ipob/esn sympathizers by their pattern ways of thinking inversely. They always want to move people to cause problems they can not push directly out of envy and jealousy. So when you were busy destroying Dangote trucks over minor issues in the east on sit at home, you expect Dangote private owner to cite his business in a place Ipob/esn will wake up one day to chase Dangote-fulani away over minor issue that can be resolved and tell Ekpa foreign oil and gas minister to take over?

This is a private money and not government own. Which one is closer? Is it for NNPC to transport crude from SS to abroad to refine or to transport from SS to Lagos? Always be happy wherever development happens. Tinubu should be well commended for that vision that hosted Dangote refinery today when other states rejected it because of lack of foresight. It is just like Messi that was once rejected in one club for his height, but became great asset that brought much glory to Bacelonia. Thank God, same Tinubu will benefit from where he sowed long time ago at the right time. Congratulation to Lagos in term of income, employment generation and infrastructure development that will keep dragging more graduates and enterpreneur to Lagos in search of greener pastures

Imagine that Akwa Ibom State receives everything it is supposed to and shares it with no state in the country. That state would probably be competing with Qatar or so. AKS has done so well with leadership. They keep getting it right back to back. You cannot tell me otherwise.

As for Rivers State, she is supposed to be much better than it is today. All their governors use their money to play fruitless national politics, starting from Odili.

As for Bayelsa State, it's relatively new. Unfortunately, the people just love to idle about and share government money.

By and large, SS states have done comparatively well in terms state-financed human capital and infrastructural development.

Financial recklessness and weak institutions are some of our biggest problems in Nigeria. No exceptions.

Lagos didn't have oil when it grew like this, all we need is competent leaders
