A resistive load doesn't draw more current than an inductive load of the same rating, it's the other way round. A resistive load of 2300W connected to a 230V AC source will draw 10A, an inductive load of same 2300W and power factor of 0.5 will draw a current that is twice what the resistive load draws. dacool1: 1 Like |

dejidotun2000: Me I am now confused. OK this is my situation. I have a freezer that draws 0.78amps and a heater that draws 0.77amps both at 230v My battery remains at 12.5v when it's just the freezer that is turned on but it drops to 12.3v when I put in the heater alone. . Another scenario is that when I put on the freezer with other appliances that are not resistive that draw a sum of 2.3amps at 230v my batteries remains around 12. 4 to 12.3v but when I turn on just a small oven that draws about 2.45amps at 230v the batteries rapidly drops to 12.1v 1 Like |

TechGeek777: Hello, thanks once again for your suggestion. I just got the fan. A quick question, can I use the fan while charging or it must be used only on the battery? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by TechGeek777: 12:22pm On Jul 04, 2023 |
Olarewajub: When you newly bought it, you MUST charge it to full capacity (the light will turn Green when fully charged), doing this with NEPA light could take up to 12hours, after it's charged you can start using it while it's charging. I advise you buy Qasa 20w(15k minimum) panel to charge this fan effectively. With the panel it get to float by 11am/12 noon 1 Like |

TechGeek777: My home is fully off the grid (no NEPA or generator). Would you still advise I get the 20W panel? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by TechGeek777: 12:39pm On Jul 04, 2023 |
Olarewajub: Since you have solar already, you can charge with it, but ensure it's fully charged before you start using it. I bought mine since March 2022, and it's still going strong. Those who bought few months ago are complaining because they use it wrongly. Do you mind sharing how much precisely you bought yours? Also, do you care to share your solar setup? 1 Like |

TechGeek777: Thank you very much. I got the fan for 44k, though it is 42k on Jumia. Concerning the Solar setup, I would need to do some confirmations. I am still new to the PV system, especially the calculations. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by TechGeek777: 1:13pm On Jul 04, 2023 |
Olarewajub: Okay, the first one I bought last year was 32k, bought another one with same Qasa panel between March/April this year for 42k, the 2k difference is fair. You don't need much maths, just state the Watts of your panels, how many panels, no of batteries, charge controller amp that's all. The essence is for prospective solar people to have ideas of what to go for. 1 Like |

How did you determine the AC current draw ? The ammeter you are using very likely is unable to accurately measure the inductive current drawn by the freezer and is underestimating the current. The AC current drawn by the resistive load while be a pure since wave while the current drawn by an inductive load will contain harmonics and therefore be distorted, most common meters won't be able to accurately measure such current. dacool1: |

Olarewajub: Nice, do your batteries float daily? What's your load like? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Olarewajub: 7:00pm On Jul 04, 2023 |
TechGeek777: No, my battery does not float daily due to the cloudly weather here. My load is pretty low. Highest consumption comes from my double door refrigerator. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by TechGeek777: 7:18pm On Jul 04, 2023 |

Hello Sirs, I was not in the house for some days, i noticed my inverter charged my batteries up to 28.6V when still connected to NEPA. Immediately i put it on load it dropped to 26.5 and rapidly up to 25.9V and stabilises there and do not drop rapidly again. What can be the problem? |
