Just give it till the end of today and see. Too early for the complain. Though they are seriously messing big time these days in that regard.

How did you get the N30 million? Keep on doing what poduced the N30 million provided it is legal.

Dividend the find into 3 or 4 places. Buy Eurobond Funds, Money Market Fund, land in an area with growth potential and invest about N10 million in fundamentally sound stocks.

Remember to top up your investments as you get more cash flow from the venture that produced the N30 million
In other words, it's a poor investment decision to keep the N30m in MMF pending the time stocks will fall again, considering the fact that N30m a few years ago is no longer the same amount today in terms of purchasing power, except you're already well invested in the market and only want to keep the aforementioned amount in MMF to average down when there's eventually a market downturn.

Remember, CASH IS NO LONGER KING, CASH FLOW IS! ...except the cash is in USD

No. Just that the volatility of the rate is less compare to mmf. The reason is because part of the underlying asset is FGN Bonds which bring about the major difference between mmf and fixed income fund.
Don't mistake it with fixed deposit in commercial banks.
Presently the industry is experiencing rate decline. The bullish run in the stock market could be a factor among others.

However, with the decision of the MPC today, rate could reverse pisitively in the days ahead.

The emboldened is non-existent with United Capital. To invest in the Eurobond fund of any of the investment houses suggested above, including UNITED CAPITAL, you have to source for your own USD.

In addition, the USD is to be transferred from an off shore account as there is restriction on transfer from one Nigeria Dorm Account to another. Also, cash deposits into an investment accounts is not allow.

Something is definitely wrong with United Capital Investment. It's been 3 months now and they're still verifying my KYC.
Have sent messages to them to no avail.
This is why I love Stanbic IBTC

From your pay/gains

The following has taken their portions
the landlord
the local foodstuffs seller
grocery store,
fuel stations
transporters
dependants
etc...
Don't forget to pay yourself first by investing a portion of your pay/gains in
the Stanbic mmf, SFS fixed income fund or stock of dividend-paying companies.

With the inflation rate in this country, it's advisable to invest let say 5M in Stanbic mmf and getting the interest (gain) of 45k per month base on my rough calculation.
I think that 45k is too small compare to inflation rate.

It's true the inflation rate is high but your 5m loses more value when it's not invested in any instrument.
There could be other investment vehicles that can give you higher interest but they also come with higher risk.

Investment in Stocks could give you more returns if you have what it takes. Remember return of investment is more important and to be considered first before the return on investment.

I don't know of any government-regulated investment that can give 20% right now.
However, Just as I posted earlier, investment in the stock market can give you that or even more.

Hi everyone, why is it that there is no discussion at all around other mutual funds like Balanced Funds, Fixed Income Funds, etc, in this forum?

Funds like Stanbic IBTC Balanced Fund, Iman Fund, which are also relatively less volatile, and some had yielded above 50% profit this year are never discussed here but only Money Market fund with abysmal return is getting so much attention. Is there any reason people are not interested in this category of funds?

Please let's hear from experts in this forum so many of us can learn.

I have been investing in money market, treasury bills and mid term notes. But recently only in mid term notes and money market. Mid term notes by investment One used to be so juicy particularly in those days when the interest rate was as high as 24%. It has drastically fallen now like others and far below inflation rate just like TB and Money Market Fund. I have signed up for Iman and Balanced funds by Stanbic IBTC just few days ago for trial. I'll have to watch it for a year and more. I know these are more long term, sufficient part of these funds is invested in stock, which is generally likely to rally into the new year ahead due to present economic realities - political outlook, etc (IMHO). What I have committed is trial amount as I am not certain of anything here as of yet. But our funds on MM is actually eroding away due to poor returns.

I want to know what are the opinions of experts in the house.

Check my previous posts on fixed income fund particularly SFS fixed income fund which I'm involved in.

Most of the investors here tend to lean towards low-risk investment hence MMF is always discussed. Other funds like balance funds, growth funds, and equity funds carry more risk compared to MMF and fixed income hence most investors that will invest in such funds must have gained some confidence otherwise they remain with low-risk MMF. It's true that rates are low yet it's still better than leaving your money in a savings account. Remember it's a case of low-risk low returns and vice versa.

Another issue is the mode and duration of the returns on other funds, Some of them pay dividends once a year, and sometimes no dividends. The minimum holding periods of some of these funds apart from MMF are seen to be too long.

Personally, I advise my clients to invest directly in dividend-paying stocks instead of equity funds since it's practically the same risk involved.

Thanks for this. Regarding your last line, can you list good stocks that pay dividends and how often are the dividends paid?

I'm new to dividend paying stocks.
