Raydos:You guys can't discuss Nigeria without insult and curses? Criticism should be constructive. Discussions should highlights the problem and present a solution. Now back to the to topic, the major cause of the problem is the local government which are not closer to the grassroot, they are not functional. Most of the so call local government chairs don't even know why they are there, no town planning no single activity, even streetlights done by state governors, other bodies in some local government are left to rot. I think the local government also need more funding we should also hold the local government chairs more accountable because they are largely been ignored by us. 1 Like |

nairalanda1: Thank you for this. One thing is evident though, even if 70% of Nigerians paid taxes, we have not had the type of leadership that can create anything meaningful with the revenue. What you will just see is more Keke Napep and grinding machine programmes. Then occasionally one road, one flyover, and maybe one airport. 🤷🏼♂️ 4 Likes 2 Shares |

correctguy101: Let's start with me addressing the implication you make, that I am excusing looting. I am not, and I appreciate it if you read what I wrote, and understand. Second, the problem with looted funds is that they take time to get back, and the law has to find all of them, which is why it is taking so long to find all of it. Third...and now onto my point, let's get the looted money back....and then use it for development...what next? What happens when the money finishes? That is why governments have to have a continous source of income. And it has to be taxes and taxation. That's how Europe runs. And like I have said here, we have to become an exporter of manufactured goods and servicies Again, we have to become an exporter of manufacutred goods and services Again we have to become a manufacutrer of services and export goods (ok, brain malfunction there..lol). Not only do we earn money, but government won't be corrupt, because if they are, it harms our bottom line. But, as I have said here earlier....even if we get back all the money looted from Nigeria...it amounts to 582 billion dollars. Assuming the money is sitting somewhere, all it would do is make things a bit better. If we want to be rolling with the big boys, we have to be having an economy of 5 trillion or more dollars. And that can only be achieved by fighting corruption, raising taxes from all...so that people are forced to take an interest in how government money is spent...and in becoming an economy that is dependent on (all together now) the export of manufactured goods and servicies. |

Every street is a market and the wares must be displayed for the legs to touch them. Every house has at least one shop. That way the competition must be at peak. Every open space is a motor park, or mechanical workshop. That way you don't have to pay for shop or shed. But some "task force" finds it an opportunity to put bread on their table. All because of greed and unhealthy competition. The politicians don't care because they are preoccupied with the next election. 2 Likes |

Glory2DLamb: Well, we could enforce extant laws on street trading, and zoning of housing and businesses, but the problem is, anytime a governor or LG chair tries to do so, he or she is labelled as evil, and demonic, and is accused of making the poor suffer. El Rufai tried to do that in Abuja when he was FCT minister, and of course he was labelled Shaytan . 1 Like |

Raydos:I once tried to fix my street all by myself. I planted some beautiful trees, water them daily, and cleaned up every nook and cranny, but after one month, the Fulanies brought their cows and ate up all the trees I suffered to plant and nurture. They left behind, cow dungs all over the street. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Nigerians don't live consciously. It has always been argued how Africans are intellectually handicapped. Yet our leaders are not ashamed to be leading such people. They stil go out there to brag as presidents in slums 3 Likes 1 Share |

Raydos: How many Nigerians can afford what they are craving for? You must understand that we are a very poor country. Infact, we are very wretchedly poor. We seems to have this notion that we are a rich country because of the oil and other mineral resources below our feet, but all that has no value if what is in our head is emptiness, corruption, injustices et al. 3 Likes 1 Share |

You prefer cities like NY where depression is high? Because people can't interact on daily basis. Get comedic drama here and there from passersby, because nobody minds their business? We're Africans. And this is our way of life. |

eminemkayc: On Gabon,Gabon has been described as an 'oil rich country' yet they export around 233,000 barrels of crude per day. A lot but not as much as Qatar does (Qatar exports nearly ten times that). |
