Please for the marriage certificate, do i need to notarize it too before authenticating?, or is just authenticating at Ministry of foreign affairs enough?

Please, I need your opinion.
I applied for a year visa on the 14th July, 2023 for research and the checklist use for me was visitors exceeding 3 months checklist. I even called VFS when I was gathering my documents to ask if I need medical aid cover and they told me no... I don't need medical aid cover for this category of visa application. To my greatest surprise, my visa was denied on that ground. 'No medical aid cover attached". VFS PH called VFS Lagos to ask the reason for the denial when medical aid wasn't a requirement for visitors exceeding 3 months, they said... it was just a recent development (two weeks ago).

Now, they adjudicated my application submitted since July with a recent checklist ( they haven't even published it on their site).

I was told to appeal... Please, does appeal really work?

Thank you.
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Therxymora: 7:45pm On Oct 26, 2023
That Appeal is just a complete waste of time, I was denied february 2023, I put appeal immediately...till today I never hear anything.

Vfs said its completely out of their hands, that its upto the embassy to contact me when its out..

Weird request
Please anyone coming to Capetown from Nigeria who can help me bring sweet potatoes and plantain chips or any recommendation on where I can get it in Capetown. Thank you

https://www.plantain.co.za/products/krunchies-plantain-crisps-lightly-salted

Or check Google. There are thousands of vendors there.

Don't try to implicate any Nigerian with this old trick.

These things are everywhere in Capetown, but i guess it depends on which area you are.

Anyways, try Plantain.co.za. They deliver to your doorstep. Both fresh plantains and plantain chips. Occasionally even yam if they have stock..

For potatoes, Buy Zimbabwean sweet potatoes. They ate the closest to what we have in Nigeria in terms of texture. Its mostly sold by roadside street vendors who sell veggies.

You can also visit ogaafricanmarket in Parklands. A bit expensive but you'll find anything you want most times from there..

Asking strangers to help you bring stuffs from Nigeria is actually very weird. it should never get here in the first place. Go to the market in capetown, potatoes plenty there. make una no dey take un necessary risk.

10-20k Rands, hotel should be around 1k-1500rands per night, food is relatively cheap and transportation too. I didn’t do a lot of sight seeing so my budget might not really work for you but make sure you go with dollars or have your card(SA) card activated for international use cos those people will charge you in dollars.

No one should come here and be asking irrelevant questions. If ACTUALLY, they are genuine. They come again and be asking people for assistance to bring garri, potatoes or whatsoever on a public platform for you from Nigeria. let be respecting ourselves. Currency sellers too take note! I have devoted my time with the moderator for currency sellers. You will not succeed again scamming anyone here.

Annie and Blue, call it off. Goodnight.

Thanks for the update here.
I submitted my application in VFS Lagos on 21st August and received a reply on 25th October.
Also, when is the best month of the year to book and pay for one's flight ticket at a cheaper rate?

It means your visa has been approved. Submit your passport for stamping.

If you've lived in any place for more than a year, a police report is a must in all those places including South Africa if you've lived there for more than a year.

Depending on the countries you state on your application that you've resided in for more than a year, you will be asked to provide a police report.

Hi someone should please assist, I applied for SA visa but instead of Visiting visa, I submitted application for Business Visa because I am going for a 4 days conference.

The issue I am facing now is that the document they requested for a Business Visa is not what I can get, I intend to cancel and reapply for a Visiting Visa but the portal is rejecting a new application.

Has anyone experienced this ? I need to travel on the 26th of Nov.
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Omix2: 10:15pm On Nov 02, 2023
For change of conditions, foreign PCC(s) should cover any country/countries the applicant has resided in, for more than 12 months, within the latest 5 years preceeding the application date.
Only straight renewal applications do not require foreign PCCs.
SA PCC would be paid for at the point of application in both cases.
Thus, applicant needs to provide foreign PCC(s) in respect of the 3 years preceeding the 2 years they have spent within the country.
