lavylilly: How much is "blood money"? What would "blood money" translate to as monthly pay? $5k? $10k? $20k? I have an ex school mate pulling $30k per month in Tech and he doesn't consider that "blood money" 2 Likes |

DissTroy: Our psyche has been destroyed. That's why. Cos I don't get why why people will say a barber makes "blood money" abroad when an equally skilled and experienced tech person would be the one whose "blood" they will be looking for, to make the so-called "blood money". Why plumbing? Or carpentry? Why not Accounting or Finance? Or any of the other better paying, less physically tasking jobs? I mean don't get me wrong...I personally like plumbing and carpentry because of the outright shoddy nonsense our handy people do here. But why bother to emigrate to be a carpenter when I can emigrate to become a Finance professional? 1 Like 1 Share |

Raskimonojendor: Which many people cannot get upon touch down abroad. A truck driver here that emigrates and an ordinary person with no trucking experience would both have to attend the same type of training abroad to skill up and be licenced 1 Like |

airsaylongcome: Indians want to emigrate to work as techies and in the health industry. Nigerians want to emigrate to do menial jobs and glorified househelp jobs they call "caregivers", cleaning poop. The Filipinos are still battling the call girl and househelp stigma even though they do diverse work. Nigerians just want money regardless of how degrading it is. We can be more. We should aspire to be more. 2 Likes |

airsaylongcome: IT is not for everybody, everybody can’t follow one direction. And check my previous comment, all this handwork is not as it seem for an immigrant. You don’t just learn this skills and enter the US and begin to work immediately, but provided you have your legal status settled and free to work, you can do plumbing and make it big in America. People even do smaller jobs and have built mansions in Nigeria |
Re: Handworks To Learn In Nigeria Before You Japa by airsaylongcome: 2:49am On Nov 13, 2023 |
Omoawoke2: Just as IT isn't for everyone, so is plumbing or mechanic or barbing or tailoring. Not everyone can do those. So all this talk that they pay "blood money" needs to stop. And where you say: provided you have your legal status settled and free to work, you can do plumbing and make it big in America. Is it not the same with IT? You can get into America and learn IT just like you can go in there and learn plumbing. Plumbing is a very technical profession very similar to the level technical stuff you find in engineering. How many random people can size a water pump? Or calculate the required pressure for water to sufficiently run in a house? Anyone who has the mental capacity to study plumbing, in my opinion, also has the mental capacity to study IT. And they should go for IT instead of going abroad to be a plumber. 2 Likes 1 Share |
