A friend of mine was given a contract to construct a small bridge to link two riverine communities together in the South South. Before the construction began the oldest woman in one of the communities came to warn him to request for permission and make sacrifices to the principalities under the water but he bluntly refused.

Two weeks after the construction started his wife and 6 years old daughter became heavily sick, they took them to different hospitals but the doctors said they couldn't diagnose any illness, the last doctor suggested spiritual consultations, the mother of the wife had to seek divination intercession.

They told her that without authorization her son in-law intruded into a justidiction belonging to invisible forces, and his action has brought affliction upon his family. The mother inlaw was told that if sacrifices were not performed the daughter, the granddaughter and my friend would all die.

My friend had to perform the sacrifices and after doing that, his wife and his daughter became healthy again and the bridge was completed.

Or Chinese ingenuity? If you research, I bet you'd find they sacrificed to Yahweh and Allah too, by at least giving a donation.to appease the gods of those who convinced them to. Now the appeasers must work or displease their own gods.

GREAT insight but pardon my intrusion, if I may ask, which two riverine communities are you talking about? JUST wanna check out the terrain and the type of bridge in question.

MyVILLAGEpeople:
Even when that bridge was first constructed they sacrificed to the water goddess resident in that lagoon.

WAS actually going to say this. JULIUS BERGER did same for sure while prepping to construct the bridge back in the days and so many construction firms (including LEBANESE, CHINESE etc) are known for it, so I don't get why this one seems strange to some.

Fujiyama:

^^^
Are the construction companies doing this because it is their custom in Germany, Lebanon and China...or they are doing this because their hosts in Nigeria require it? The distinction should be made clear.

Which host? SO Lagos state go wan do something and the host go dey give them condition? THAT can happen in SS but SW only care about and clamour for the development knowing the development would bring all the other benefits they aspire. Besides, if the community wants something from LASG, they have a channel they explore without involving the construction firm and they've always done their ISESE without having the UNINITIATED involved.
IT'S the construction company's doing. CHINESE, LEBANESE, INDIANS usually do this before they start a complex projects especially ones that pass through swampy, riverine, lagoon, creek, ocean or other SCARY terrains.

Fujiyama:

^^^
undecided

I'm not sure you understood my question.

^^^
My question still stands.

Do all these construction companies perform animal sacrifices before a project in their home countries? undecided You mentioned Julius Berger in one of your earlier posts and how they slaughtered animals before building 3rd mainland bridge in Lagos. I can assure you that Bilfinger Berger doesn't do public goat sacrifices before building bridges, canals or overpasses in Germany. It just isn't their way.

Don't be a pathetic CLOWN. You asked a simple question, the post tried to simplify the answer with relative explanation but then, you still find a way to divide the reply, citing a part as not in line with the question while putting the other part (in stark contradiction)as not giving the exact answer you want to hear. If you already have you mindset fixated on a certain belief, why troubling others with useless querries then?
Anyway, did you see the video? Does any of the participants, onlookers, passers-by, in the ritual as the video depicts look like a king, chiefs or priest to you? Or when has it happen that the traditionalists whom were the custodian of their custom would suddenly leave the procession to non-initiated to do?
I may not know about the GERMANS level of infusion into spirituality but I can tell you for free that the FAR AND MIDDLE EAST (CHINESE, INDIANS, LEBANESE,) popular religions are traditional and offers RITES to their respective deities till today. To construct complex structures, they still offers RITUAL like this for non-problematic and non-fatality success.

TO respond to your question on the open space sacrifice, my believe is that they likely would have special shrine for this purpose down in their countries but may not be opportuned to stationed such anywhere here/everywhere they go particularly as it may not be prerequisite for them to perform whatever ritual their beliefs require.

YOU'RE FREE TO BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT TO BELIEVE THOUGH.

It is part of what religion does. In those days in Israel, they do a lot of burnt offerings, peace offerings etc. That was what they believed back then. Before they can go to war against the Palestinians in those days, they must sacrifice. But now they have grown past that age of ignorance and they go to war without even praying these days. They shoot their shots with science and technology, but Africans are still neck deep in religious practices that don't help a matter. The gods they are offering sacrifices to cannot save themselves, not to talk of saving the lives of others grin grin cheesy

In this time and age is where people are still carrying out such practices??.. SMH

This is exactly how your type of people destroyed this country.
What makes it fine “in this time and age”, to burn candles, and pour Goya oil everywhere, and sprinkle well water, and carry N50 handkerchief around, because, somebody told you to believe in that, but it’s not okay for people to sacrifice rams because they believe in it.
Same with you people that throw stone at a devil, or must face one direction to pray, or refuse to eat pig, and forcefully take people’s land and culture, because of what you were told to believe.

They have had something to do with our traditional Ogun the God of Iron though, it seems, and I think the Chinese are smart enough to recognise all the gods that prevail where this project is.

Curiosity was sparked when the construction company overseeing repairs on Third Mainland Bridge was recorded 'sacrificing' three rams before starting the repairs.

In the video, three lifeless rams were observed on the ground, their blood filling a container beneath their placed necks. Men, including a foreigner, were seen moving around during the sacrificial ritual.

This has prompted numerous questions, with some scrutinizing the necessity or significance of such a sacrifice before addressing a damaged section of the popular Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

So, the question arises: Do you believe this is necessary? What are your thoughts on this matter? Feel free to share your opinions in the comment section.

Nigerians told them what to do to be successful .

Are there evil spirits? Yes

Does the Bible talk about them?Yes

Jesus cast them out when on the earth.

A true christian must believe that there are evil spirits Eph 6 11-13

The road workers believe those water spirits must be appeased to finish their work.

Apart from those people ,those who drive wood lorries "Agbeklodo ". do not do their work without any special protection .
We are indeed in the world where everyone is treading carefully on matters.

Give to Cesear what belongs to him. We were handling a project close to a major river in a south-south state and the villagers advised us that we should sacrifice to the goddess river before we embarked on the project. We ignored the warning and started the project. Less than a week, we lost 3 brand new equipment. Until we performed the sacrifice before the losses stopped. Sacrifice is common in construction if the project is bridge construction or any major project close to river. Do the needful and continue with your work

Hmm this is deep and mysterious. There are lots of water goddess in africa. Besides I heard same thing happened when they wanted to construct the third mainland bridge. They sacrificed to the goddess in that lagoon.

Sit down there. A multinational company in over 60 countries is currently building a big factory in Kwara and there was sacrifice made when the project started, some where buried down and construction was done it. I saw it live and not that I was told. It's so pathetic that oyinbo deceived us to forget our own but they are good at it. Africa mumu too much abeg.
