benardtotti: Now you're changing tunes Why didn't you state all these earlier, before running mouth like a parrot. FYI, it is not only the 36 states' assembly that make input. It encompasses everybody - - NGOs, religious bodies, civil societies, professionals, traditional institutions and many others. You can take a cue from the recent electoral amendment bill - - My organisation was part of that process and we made our inputs despite the fact that we are apolitical. See, I'm not gonna reply you again because you're too ignorant to be engaged in this kind of discourse. But bear it in mind that you actually know nothing. Bye. 1 Like 1 Share |

DMerciful: More rubbish as usual from a detractor trying to keep his fire of bias against others burning. If the solutions are identified then why another dumb jamboree instead of the ruling Party just using it’s political leadership and influence , in the legislative and executive arm of Nigerian governance, to directly tackle constitutional amendments to then reach implementation stage without delay and before Nigeria collapes?. Every averagely intelligent Nigerian knows that Nigeria cannot work , regardless of the contribution of even the most talented President, if comprehensive restructuring of our governance system is not introduced asap. Only detractors throw up inconsequential and trifling details. Progressive people prefer all delay be eliminated so implement stage, that drives solutions, is reached without delay regardless of who delivers it No constitutional conference is needed. This is how we waste money and achieve nothing. APC is in power and has legislative majority and superior coercive/bargaining power as head of executive arm. Let the Party use that power and advantage to immediately implements solutions that have been identified as far back as the 1970s instead of engaging in retrogressive practice, as you suggest, that have ensured long-identified solutions have never been implemented. 2 Likes |

They can use the 2014 confab because it was well convocated vs a committee report that will be rejected by majority of Nigerians TopBanter: |

You're using to many meaningless words. Negotiated resolutions of the confab by the ethnic nationalities will be more acceptable than few men in a room deciding for entire country TopBanter: |

DMerciful: Garbage as usual. Restructuring, resource control, state policing etal are simple enough concepts to shape to regional peculiarities if signed into law. No need for any confab hosting "ethnic nationalies" POV that is a patent waste of time. You're just confusing yourself because like the average Igbo and Obidient, dissenting first with anything the government of "Yoruba people" suggest is default modus operandi for you rather than just backing what is best for the delivery of solutions for all Nigerians. Let the APC government deliver Restructuring, resource control, greater regional autonomy etal. Serious regions, desirous of progress, can take it from there while you and your ilk continue talking about confab and other asinine issues. 2 Likes 1 Share |

richiemcgold: So you know this and were acting dumb ,anyway I don't have time keeping up this back and forth, it's a waste of time as you are hard minded and your ego won't let you learn , that civil organisations participate in the process doesn't change anything as the final draft 0f any bill will be voted 0n by the assembly, let me give you an example , the student loan bill passed through the relevant process ,yet ASUU and labour still complained , didn't they participate in the process ? . |

A confab was already done in 2014. They already came out with over 600 negotiated resolutions. Just implement! Just implement!!! TopBanter: |

This will be the best gift from Tinubu should he do that. We need restructuring (in politics, resource control) |
Re: APC Mulls Implementation Of El-rufai C’ttee’s Report On True Federalism by TopBanter: 3:06pm On Jan 15 |
DMerciful: "Rejected by majority of Nigerians" indeed. The legislators are representatives of Nigerian people by constituency. They can legally represent their people at any constitutional ammendment deliberation with their input deemed to be that of the people they represent. Nigerians have no power to reject majority ruling of the legislators. This is why you hardly witness dispute once NASS ratify a bill and pass such into law Stop hiding behind bullcrap in an attempt to disguise the fact you are just a mischievous detractor not interested in progress under a Yoruba President. Were this to be under an Obi LP government you'd be fully behind the President's Party using it's own committe report as guidance for the implementation of restructuring. 1 Like |

Obj who remains my best president ever is a Yoruba man so you're talking nonsense! The national Assembly is filled with election riggers so they lack legitimacy. They derive their powers from the 1999 constitution which is a fraudulent document because there was never a referendum to adopt the military imposed 1999 constitution. Remember that the military regimes were illegitimate. The confab of 2014 or a new constitutional conference that should actually be sovereign. You want us to do half measures and start agitating after 2yrs? TopBanter: |
Re: APC Mulls Implementation Of El-rufai C’ttee’s Report On True Federalism by TopBanter: 3:20pm On Jan 15 |
richiemcgold: Yes stakeholders can provide their input but it is advisory. It is the legislators who deliberate and vote amongst themselves to pass a bill into law or amend the Nigerian constitution so please don't talk as if your organisation having a say gives them or others any legal power to influence what legislators settle on doing. 1 Like |

DMerciful: I stopped reading beyond the part in bold in your post because it shows you are not a mature and pragmatic adult able to work with reality instead of sentiments, personalised emotions and biases. Do our legislators lack legitimacy in the eyes of the law or because you, a highly sentimental chap who cannot defer to reality, says so? However the legislators got to their position, they are today empowered to make laws on behalf of Nigeria. Anyone who does not accept this should discuss with kids not adults. 1 Like |

You want half measures out of expediency so we come back after few years with more agitations? Better to a comprehensive job once and for all! TopBanter: |

True but something has to be done, no country can work under the system Nigeria has. Federal govt has only 3 or 4 functions in America and that's why the system works. Police can be under an independent commission or as the state/regional govts want them. ogaontop: 1 Like 1 Share |

DMerciful: I know your kind, you'll always make excuses for those you love no matter their shortcomings. You're here trying to exonerate Jonathan that he was hated because he is from a minority ethnic group and bla bla bla. Same way he couldn't remove fuel subsidy because he was also hated. Lol Please read yourself, if Jonathan in his wisdom thought organizing a CONFAB was important why didn't he try to implement the recommendations of the CONFAB his own government organized ? He organized a CONFAB but didn't have the balls to implement the recommendations so he left it for the next government. Yeye! |
