Poverty..or should I say financial ignorance is a world wide menene......
The owners of Google are still tenants.....
You think having that property gives you financial freedom...?!
Think hard and again.........
I'd prefer to be a life long tenants if you ask me.....
Still have my property that I hate to live in.....
Wat about that....?

Provide evidence where owners of Google are tenants.
Find out when Bill Gates and Co started driving expensive rides before you start screaming poverty

Wotoporiously cool speaking

People wey get car and still dey live for another man house go attack this babe left, right, center, already seeing them on this thread giving different instances and trying to explain it all grin

In my opinion her advise nor bad but like I always say every man with him choice, you can't force a horse to drink water.

As for me I can never live in another man's house and think of buying a car, I go build my own house and buy my own car when time reach.

Nothing spoil cool

Your logic is wrong in all sense.
Two school of thoughts
1. Necessity: People whose nature of work demands them to have a car before building a house. There are contract you’ll never touch if you don’t have a car. Ask Abuja guys. (Not packaging but reality)
2. Luxury: this set of people don’t have houses of their own and they are comfortable. This category don’t believe in owning a house in another state which which is not their state of origin and the likes.
In fact, there so many reason to give but chill first.

This thread shows how ignorant & uncouth some posters can be.

If you do not understand a term, ask or Google it.

The OP said the woman is a financial guru; some posters have insulted her and assumed she is poor because 'her handbags and fridge is in the same place'.

She is called a financial guru and not a rich woman or a multimillionaire.

Her job is to teach you how to manage money which birthed her advise of 'not owing a car whilst a tenant' except:
1. You own a property or a land
2. Your car generates income for you

An intelligent person can agree/disagree without insults like agberos and omo alata.

Fake expert.
There is no need to own a house and even if you do that does not mean you should live in it
Own a house in Lekki if you must rent it out and rent to live in Surulere

EverythingPhone:
It’s only Africa mentality that says you must have a house
In the west most people rent homes even at old age

So it’s not a crime to rent at an old age if you can’t afford to buy a home

Owning a car in a rented house isn’t a bad idea too
At least it eases one’s movement
E still better pass make person Dey jump from bus to bus

Owning a car is not a luxury
It’s a necessity whether as a tenant or landlord

It is African mentality to own a home yet we are just playing catch with mortgaging.

I have no problem with her but with the person who termed her a financial expert.
If not that Nigeria is not a working society, being mobile should be grouped under the most basic things everyone should possess regardless of financial and social status. It should be in the classes of food, air and water but in Nigeria, cars are seen as achievements all thanks to our currency and leaders who have failed to transform Nigeria into an export and production-based economy.
The argument of owning a car before building a house or vice versa is never a one-size-fits-all affair as it is a decision that should be taken based on the environment you find yourself. In Switzerland and many other European countries for instance, using public transportation is cheaper than owning cars but same can’t be said of places like our Lagos.
One thing is certain, cars in Nigeria will surely open doors of opportunities for you if and only if you know how to utilize them to your advantage. While in sleepy places where there are no much hustling and bustling going on (places like Bayelsa, Osun, Ebonyi, Borno, Imo and Ondo for instance) you can prioritize having one or two houses before considering getting a car. In short, owing a car in commercial spaces like Lagos is not a liability, it is an asset—a working asset.

Car that ease your going to work, sanity and wellbeing. Greater benefits if there're kids.

Applies to employees, not employers. As a business person, it makes sense to to rent and own a car rather than building a house. A house isn't an income generating asset. A thriving business generates income. So be a tenant.
