I thought there's ministry of commerce and industry in Nigeria? Why can't they set up a task force for price regulation close down any retailer selling above average price across board.

There is wickedness in the land right now. I'm even surprised that many of you have to be told that sellers are now ripping off customers across the country. Naira has gained value in both official and black markets. Diesel price has drastically come down too. But sellers are not ready to let go of old selling prices.

Let me narrate my experience 48 hours ago to you: A seller was thanking his God for not mistakenly selling 62ah battery to me at 40k, that was after he looked at his record book. I called my brother right in front of the seller to know where he got it for 40k a week before and he told me (a nearby to the shop I was). My brother even told me that the price has gone down further a bit. Right there, the same seller asked me to pay the money. Look at that!

Yesterday I bought a bottle of oil for 900 as against the ₦1200 I do buy close to my house. A mudu of garri for ₦800 against ₦1100 close to my house. The difference is too much.

yes ooo retailers are the major problem we are facing, those items are reducing in price but they felt the amount dropping on each items is not significant enough to reduce their own price cos i sell foodstuffs I bought Auntie B last week 13100 from warehouse am selling one for 700 but I restock yesterday I bought it 12800 I just reduced my price to 680 my competitors in my area was gossip dat I don't know how to do business, and I used to restock almost every week I just laughed them in my mind 🀣🀣
we should be pitying ourselves plsss

Go to trade fare and see how street retailers are ripping us off big time.

My wife bought her body cream CT+ at the rate 2100 at trade fare yesterday while in our area retailers are selling it for 3700.

Kk brothers soap my wife bought the pack for 7k(6pieces) while one is sold for 1700 by retailers.

Her sanitary pad she bought 1 pack at the rate of 1050 while retailers sell for 1700.

Even strike bitters sachet pack(20 pieces) wey I dey always use console myself i buy for 2000 she got it for 1450.

Note she didn't even buy at carton price but at pack price because if she was buying in carton the price would be lower that than.

Just yesterday I bought a derica of rice on my way back home for 900 around oshodi terminal while the seller in my street is still selling for 1300 despite price of bag of rice coming down.

We are own problem.......everyone is wicked in this country.

The thing we are witnessing is the Shock sent into the economy by treasonous policies imposed by incompetent handlers.
The market will take time to stabilize that is if the Exchange rate remains the same.
Yea there are opportunists taking advantage of the situation. But who dropped the ball ?

So all retailers buy from trade fair according to this mugu

You can as well start to dey go buy am and build a supermarket where you sell at trade fair prices in your locality and you can even expand to the entire nation

because you won't pay for the shop, you won't be needing light, you won't do maintenance, just buy and sell

keep quiet . Seems u love the economic hazards that Nigerians has faced unfortunately before but let me remind you that inflation has reduced, the naira has appreciated manifestly and there are signs that prices of goods are coming down well. How can you be unconscionable to support high inflation in a country instead of economic stability. U eagerly want people not to afford good things of life and that they should struggle because of inflation. See the price disparity between trade Fair market dealers and the local retailers around you and u are here trying to justify why commodities should be more expensive to what end? For your selfish reasons or to make most Nigerians not to be able to afford necessary basic commodities for themselves and their familiies.
How can retailers be changing prices like 3-4 times or more in the space of 2 months.thats abnormal. There is no famine and yet some retailers skyrocket their prices.they are truly greedy and it's either you are a member of Lagos chamber of commerce and industry or u are a typical business man retailer who just wants to make all gains from selling market.dollar is going down now so stop your selfish stories and defense. Prices of goods must come down.the federal competition and consumer protection commission would soon visit Lagos to stop this anomaly.

Re: People Are Wicked.....retailers Are Killing Us by pocohantas(f): 9:41pm On Apr 21
OP don't mind those people attacking you.

I had this vendor I buy jewelry from.
Earrings for 6k, 7k. All for me to find a wholesaler. Same earring was N1200 retail price (not wholesale o). Meaning the vendor was making a whooping N4800 per earring and she is always sold out.

When they want to go to these markets (Balogun and TradeFair), they will wear nosemasks, make their online customers no recognise them. Then they will claim to be importing. Who give them money to import? You know what it costs to import from China? Where MOQ is like 1000 pieces of each design? No mixing.

I was so angry I blocked that 6/7k reseller.
Now I see how they buy Benz. Imagine making almost 5k profit on each earring.

The only problem is that the wholesalers in these markets have poor online presence. They are too busy with physical orders to bother with online buyers.

Same with the rip off my laptop seller almost did recently. See ehn, retailers are something else.

The retailers have done you NP wrong, they did not stop you from going to shop at Trade fair every day, or every weekend. Those selling items for 1200 at trade fair bought it foe about 400, they did not stop you from travelling abroad to buy your own.

Come on, this is a free world, buy and sell as you wish. You did not give your street seller the capital to start that business. If he price are too high, simply check the next store

Why all this wicked and devilish mind? So the people selling at the trade fair didn't pay for transportation to move their wares from where they bought it, to their stores and yet sold at moderate prices and still making profits.

That's exactly the major cause of the artificial inflation. Retailers are too greedy. You get to know they are the problem with the price of certain drinks like nutri-milk and even coke. No uniform price. When you stop at shop A, she may call it 450, shop Bbwill call it 500 and C may g to the length of calling it 650/600. Since prices of things were going up, retailers seized that opportunity to inflate prices of their goods.
Even pen that they ate selling for 100, if the sold it for 50 Naira, they would make more than enough profit

Government is not always the problem. If tomorrow government takes excessive measures in curbing their excesses we will all still blame the government.

Something is certain, he who sell the product of curses, will in turn get stone as his/her monetary reward..
