I hope you are being sarcastic. First off ... the head of a country travels to another country to meet with the head of that country... not a governor. Then what does Antigua have to offer Lagos?.... nothing but music ... duty of the Minister of Culture//Tourism. Antigua.... population of 100 ooo ..... Surulere ... population of 750 000 .... Antigua.... like Nigeria depends on oil .... but have other sectors.... Antigua depends on tourism only .... tourists don't visit .... cruise ships don't arrive... they are finished. Lagos... 450 square miles..... Antigua...108 square miles... go figure.

😒

At the moment Nigerian government is just looking for investors from anywhere, if Iran propose the government will grab it

I hear you ... but my point is Antigua has nothing to offer Lagos.... they have no industry ... what can they possible invest? No doubt ... the FG is inviting anyone ..... Nigeria is on lease at rock bottom prices. .... open to exploitation pushed as foreign investment. They should say what he is bringing to the table in exchange for what. Maybe citizenship at a price?... a safe haven for looters?

Today, at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Hon. Gaston Alfonso Browne, I mentioned that our administration will partner with Antigua and Barbuda in entertainment, arts, culture, and technology.

I emphasized the potential for collaboration due to our shared interests and highlighted the importance of technology in breaking boundaries and fostering economic growth.

The Prime Minister also expressed readiness to collaborate with Lagos State in trade and investments, aiming to strengthen the relationship between our regions for shared growth and development.

Antigua and Barbuda... With pristine beaches hugging torquise colored ocean waters.

There's a worldclass tourism industry in Antigua and Barbuda, just like in Grenada, the Bahamas and Barbados. Antigua also serves as a hub for offshore banking and international business. There's also the descendants of Africans who were taken on slave schooners to the Caribbean Islands.

Therefore, Lagos State has a lot to learn from Antigua in the field of tourism and international business or international finance.
Many countries that depended on tourism got negatively impacted during the horrendous COVID-19 lockdowns. So, a lot firsthand info can be learned by the Lagos State government in trying to implement a more robust tourism industry.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu rose to the very senior position of a Bank Treasurer (before he was poached from the private sector to the public sector as the first boss of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund). He therefore knows the importance of tourism and the financial sector.

Antigua and other Caribbean islands main attraction are the beaches. Safety is the number one priority ..... can't boost international tourism in an unsafe environment. If the aim is to develop a ehmmm .... more robust tourism industry .... then he should be first looking at safety. Then what do we have that can really boost the industry? No doubt ... most of the descendants in the Caribbean are of African ancestry ..... and so are Blacks in the Diaspora..... that have never set foot in Africa. We should learn from Ghana how they developed their slave trade history into a multi million dollar tourist industry. Why not go to Ghana and get first hand knowledge and return and develop Badagry as a tourist destination?

Cruise liners docked in Antigua. We need not need to travel to know we not ready for Antigua type tourism.

I am speechless so Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Received The Prime Minister Of Antigua.

We should quickly mould a statue of the two of them and put it in front of ASO rock and use their pictures as legal tender to cushion the effects of fuel scarcity.

This is no ordinary achievement for our country, this will bring in investors with $$$$ worth of investments..

Congratulations Sanwo Olu
Congratulations Tinubu
Congratulations Nigerians..

God bless our great nation.

Succinctly stated.

Security and pristine beaches are paramount to international tourism... and you're spot on about Ghana's maximization of the magnetic pull from the African Diaspora. The "Year of Return" and ancestry DNA tests ALSO enabled African-Americans and Afro-Carribeans to gravitate more towards visiting Ghana and even investing in housing and businesses in Ghana. (Although some historical Diasporans got hit by the failing Ghana economy and ran into losses on their investments, and this is where a robust due diligence comes in).

Lagos State and other coastal states with vast beaches such as Ondo, Akwa Ibom, (and even Cross River State) would have to really understudy these variables to make international tourism work in the specific pristine areas of those states.
