Many of these people who write rubbish are mocked outside of Nigeria. Go check out all of the current wealthy nations. They began by developing infrastructure. Whether the economy is in depression or not, we must put structures, roads, railways, and seaways in place. We keep shouting that food is expensive...while farmers complain about bad roads. Consider how much food, oil, and other large items will be transported by rail across the entire region. And then the road will be preserved.

Many people are just educated illiterates in Nigeria.

I don't like Tinubu, I am not his fan... but during the election, I said it clearly that he would build Nigeria like he built Lagos. However, we will have his boys everywhere. Thuggery will reign... and many other bad things. Nigerians prefer him, and they have him. Shikena. Make dem manage am. But building infrastructure is not out of place.

Nigerians are gluttons. They prefer palliatives. Or have them use magic to put food on their table. They do not see the economic value in constructing this railway and road. They will finish it by the grace of God. Tinubu does not have records of abandoned projects. He is a man who chooses a follower to replace him and keep his projects going. The evidence is still in Lagos. He has many flaws, but I believe we should let this phase pass.

To me, let them keep putting infrastructure in place. We have reaped too many benefits from subsidies. Let us make sacrifices for our children and generations to come. Let us sacrifice for them. Even these politicians are embezzling, and we can do nothing. As long as infrastructure like this exists, we will eventually be able to confront corrupt politicians and control corruption.

Finally, it is beneficial to have opposition. While I condemn those who oppose this project, I still appreciate them. Everything requires checking and balancing.

Let us move Nigeria forward.

Ignoring all of your statements, my question to you is simple - why did the project not go through the bidding process via the BPE as enshrined in the laws; and why was their no Environmental Impact Assement completed before commencing the project?

Or should we not ask these questions because Tinubu wants to build Nigeria?

The same way he built pipelines straight from lagos state govt coffers to Bourdillon?

Tinubu is dead, arrangement already going on in the US to hand over power to shetima, that's the Latest breaking news. Shetima is currently in USA, Tinubu location is unknown. That has always been a situation in this country

The coastal road as an alternative road will reduce stress on the internal roads thereby making them last longer. New communities will also spring up along the coasts leading to more economic activities and depopulation of already overpopulated internal urban and rural areas. How about travel time reduction? The advantages are endless.

Typical black man. Just because the corrupt practices keeps food on your table, you will tell us it’s advantageous aspects.

Why are not talking about the awarding process?

Why was Julius Berger yanked off?

Why should a president son be a board member in that company?

Why was the Landmark road not rerouted as intially planned?

Why not use that money and invest in power sector?

Even if you’re that daft you will see that constant power supply is a plus compared to the coastal road.

What an interesting read.

A well researched and analytical writeup. The writer stated that we need strategic analysis to tackle the economy.

My fear is that, do we have that?

Is the government analytical? Several clumsy mistakes even a secondary school economic student wouldn't make.

Why close borders when food is in short supply
Why remove subsidy without a proper analysis on the economy?
Why float the naira when the economy is import based?
Why hand over Okouma to the military when the police are supposed to investigate?
Why build a road that Nigeria can do without and render thousands destitute?
Why after going after BDCs and cyrpro bros, the Naira is still declining

Do they think that thelives of 200 million people are a joke?

Yes the advantage are endless but did you read it will cost 20 trillion? And the road is to be completed in good 8 years? And u know that 8 years might be 20 years to come.
Why not channel this chunk to fix existing roads that are now death trap.

Critics are blind to these positives!

They just dont want this administration to succeed. They know the completion of this project will signal a huge achievement for President Tinubu and their paymaster will find it difficult to campaign against him 2027 if he performs well.

They should rather tell Nigerians,if the advantages is not more than the fault they are telling us,so that Nigeria can move forward!

gibberish as usual .... Every country that wants progress invest heavily in electricity generation first, most of the companies that left Nigeria left because of high cost of production where they have to depend on generators to run their factory we have lost many factories to Ghana because of electricity issues these companies didn't leave Nigeria because the roads were bad they left because bad electricity supply where they depend on expensive diesel for production they don't skip development process creating More roads with huge funds when there are bad existing ones is a waste and a bigger waste now that the country is struggling hard

Thanks for this. Let's address this issue without insulting each other. We are all here to learn. I will answer you back with questions.

1. Does the law say that all the projects must pass through bidding process via BPE?

2. You wrote as enshrined in the laws...please, quote that law. I want to see the chapter and verse flof.tje law. Sebi you sabi law...go on...put it here clearly. I don't do dem.say.

3. Also, if any law has been broken, show us clearly. Sebi na law you wan use. Let's use that weapon well here.

4. Tell me the law that guides Environmental Impact Assement. Tell us the law that guides it. Show us clearly how they violated any.

A beg...you.will quite the applicable laws ooo. If not, just waka commot..

Sanni my brother, I think the point you made here is not disputable and has been overflogged in several other platforms and fora. The real issue that stick out here in this article is the lack of transparency , due process in going to the market, selecting and awarding the contracts, and the outcomes of Impact assessments.

While electricity is good, I agree....abandonment of basic infrastructure must go along. A case study for you to explore is the way the US built back after 1929 great depression. You will learn so much.

We are going to remove double costs of road repairs that heavy trucks use if we build out railways. Na common sense.

Common sense should tell anyone that only electricity can not do it. We call it infrastructure development. This is what we need now. Roads seas, air, light, water... everything.

Gospel truth. I maintain it's a misplaced priorities.

Every resources Nigeria has presently should be channeled into
1. building of refineries to reduce the price of petroleum which which is the mainstay of our economy and has multiple effect on the economy and massess. Dangote refinery is not enough.
2. Provision of constant electricity. Many businesses are winding up in Nigeria because of the high cost of production as a result of cost of diesel and fuel couple with high cost of raw materials.
3. Security
and education possibly

U are not getting the point bro.
Igbos should be the happiest people because they are traders that moves around the country.
Do you really think the project will be completed?
If proper bidding was to be done do u think that such amount of money will be budgeted for it?
If in future the road is completed it is a plus for the South South/ South East.
Do you know how many such road in Nigeria that has not been completed?

Well I only pray they should not abandon the project

People are talking about the cost and economic wastage. As a father, you plan your family. You don't leave the children's school fees and feeding to start a new building project when the house you are living in has a leaking roof, and broken doors and windows. You don't tell the wife and children to shut up and don't sleep in the new house whenever you finish it. This is a ridiculous statement.
You deserve your flowers and your family should be very proud of you!
This post is too sophisticated for the individual you quoted...some of these people here on NL are grossly incapable of critical and transparent thinking 🙄

Nobody said it had not good side.

What intelligent ones are saying is what this article encapsulates

I used the Calabar -Itu road just yesterday and it is still a death trap ...

Very few kilometers of the East -West road is motorable

What about roads from aba to port Harcourt and benin ....

6 trillion is needed for such roads nationwide and the government only made provision of 300b , a drop in the ocean

Just 47 kilometres of this new road is costing over a trillion whereas 6 trillion is needed to fix roads belonging to the FG , nationwide

This is not a priority project for solving immediate and every urgent problems
