Obi Has Laid Foundations For A New Anambra—prof. Soludo Acknowledges by ferdsmart(m): 7:27pm On Jul 22, 2013
A former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has described Governor Peter Obi as a man of destiny whose disciplined and God-fearing life has insured his success in life.
He said this yesterday during the memorial thanksgiving mass at St Theresa's Catholic Church, Isuofia in honour of Soludo's mother-in-law. He commended the Governorfor his numerous achievements and noted that he has laid strong foundation for sustainable development which he said future administration could consolidate. He said the State needed a credible successor to him to sustain the gains of the past.

Soludo disagreed with the Governor's plan to retire from politics, saying that the country needed people like him especially during these trying times.
In his remarks, the parish priest, Rev. MichaelNwajiobi enjoined Christians not to run frompillar to post in search of Miracle but should surrender their lives to God and remain steadfast in whatever position they found themselves to attract divine intervention. He said Governor Peter Obi had sacrificed a lot to make the State a model and noted that hisvision and mission had transformed all sectors of the State.

In another development, Gov. Obi said the State Government would soon roll out more interventions for schools in the State. He saidthis at Agulu Girls' Secondary School, where during the commissioning of the School's Hall renovated by the State Government. Governor Obi also commissioned the access road to the school also reconstructed with the support of the State government.
He assured that the school will also benefited from the new projects to be initiated for schools and expressed satisfaction that schools in the State are nowwearing new look through the State partnership with the church.

In his own remarks, the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor said the collaboration with the State government had made clear differences which others should emulate

it is either soludo wants to enter apga(which i doubt) or he is just being honest.maybe nairalanders who hate obi and are rooting for soludo would think deep about what soludo said.

Any honest person would tell you that Obi has done quite well. Please disregard those propagandists and sycophants on Nairaland.

I would really like it should Soludo join APGA!
The jester Okorocha will kill that party as soon as Obi leaves the scene.
An besides it will really give him a boost to win the next Governorship election.

I do realize that a politician of his age will still be looking to play a role in the National Scene just like Obi. But this general shyness to work in APGA is not good. Since Obi has maintained a good working relationship with the PDP, We can have a state wide understanding that will allow our leaders that have finished serving at regional level to join the PDP. We only need a precedence that will break the ICE. If Soludo can move to APGA, Obi can move into the PDP instead of retiring, am sure Alex Ekwueme can facilitate such as understanding. Also having a past Governor retire entirely from politics reduces the amount of representation the state could have enjoyed at the National Scene.

@Bolded, nwanne never say never in politics. Obi might be realizing that Soludo is the only credible successor he can conscientiously hand over to, so he may be courting the genius ex-CBN boss to join APGA.
I have learned to read political speak very well. By Soludo urging Obi to remain in the poltical scene, is his way of assuring Obi that he would look after him (and his foibles while in office) when he takes over.
Soludo is the only credible contender to succeed Obi (if I know Obi well).

well if you say so.one thing i know is that is victor umeh has a brain he should know that apga cannot win that election unless the apga candidate has obi's support.

I believe he knows, that is why he is calling for reconciliation with the Obi camp.
IMHO the only person that can win Anambra guber elections without obi's support is Ngige, and that is because the votes for others will be splintered and shared, while Ngige's would remain because he has a near cult following among his die hard supporters. Somehow I don't think Obi can trust Ngige with Anambra coffers.
Soludo remains the only viable choice.
The Obaze guy cannot survive the heat of Anambra "hard hat politics".
Our guber seat is not for the faint of heart, and certainly not zoned! cool

not sure what you mean by obaze cannot survive the heat of anambra politics.that he looks calm might be deceptive.not everyone has to display gra gra to show he is a man.obi even looks calmer than him but i wonder if you will really tag obi as soft and not skillful at keeping the 'wolves' at bay.

I guess all I'm saying is that there will be the following in this race:

Ngige, Soludo (unless he is not contesting again), Andy Uba, and Ifeanyi Uba,... then there is Obaze (presumably backed by Obi).
On the elections day, the likely front runners WILL BE Ngige and then others will share votes.
By default, even if Obaze manages to get more votes than the Ifeanyi Ubas (people keep underating this guy somehow and I hate for him to surprise them and even come close to Anambra coffers), the Andy Ubas, and the Soludos, he will not get more votes than Ngige; that much I know.
But if Obi supports Soludo, Ifeanyi Uba will be in REAL trouble, and APGA stands a real chance of winning.
That is really what I mean.

I share your sentiment here, though I must admit that I am a secret admirer of Onwa Anambra state.
Ever since I saw the quality of roads he built in Idemili, Nnewi and other parts of Anambra state, all I can think of is that if any other governor did the same, Anambra will have a first world road standard within two full gubernatorial terms of 8 years each.
Now, whether he can repeat that feat remains to be seen, ie if he wins.
My candidate remains Soludo because he understands what Obi tried to do and will continue that path with BIGGER ambition.

I beg to disagree because Anambra (and much of Nigeria) remain inaccessible, or poorly accessible.
What is the point of building a poor quality road that will be inaccessible within a year or two, just because you are trying to "cover all sectors"? Ngige could have moved onto other sectors if he stayed for 8 years (after building quality roads that is), and his roads would still be there (they still are!) to support his moving onto other sectors.
I doubt that Ngige would have stayed on roads alone.
If Ngige returns to office, I suspect he may be forced to redo some of the roads Obi built.

The schools are benefiting more from Obi's leadership, and that is good too. The schools are in fact the major beneficiaries of Obi's governorship, and like I said, that is good too.
We still need to build world class roads that stand the test of time.
