Please what are the procedures to get a TIN no. for a business name venture registered with CAC from FIRS.

Write an Application Letter to the comptroller general of FIRS with your registered company letter headed paper to obtain a TIN number, take the letter there together with your Incorporation certificate, they will make a copy of it, and give you a form to fill, after which you will be asked to return back to get your TIN.

go to any of their branch office with all of your company documents such as cac certificate memorandum of articles etc company bank details and utility bill. you wil be required to fill a form. no fee payment

Bank details are not needed, because before you will have an account with any bank, your TIN number is required to create an account for your registered company, Utility bills are also not needed, because your letter headed paper alone is enough for them to confirm your address.

You should have the following before you get to firs
*a coloured letter headed paper of your company (this is what you will use to apply for. TIN)
* the cac certificate, original (for sighting) and photocopy
*cac form A1 (that carries the photo(s) of the proprietor (s)) photocopy and original
*cac form 6 (that indicates the BN no) photocopy and original
*a company rubber stamp (you will need that to stamp the firs forms)
*on the firs form (VAT), you will be asked for company bank account, if you have one (I doubt this, cos most banks will ask for your TIN number before opening such) you can write "yet to be opened"
Then as soon as you get your TIN number, you can now go and open the account (just make sure you get a company seal ready)

After we did our company registration, I went to the bank GTBank to open an account. Their corporate account opening requirement isn't as stringent and unnecessary like the other bank. When we got there, they requested for a TIN which we didn't have so we had to go the FIRS to go apply. On getting there, they asked where our registered office is and upon telling them it was in lekki, we were directed to their island office. When we got there, see wahala. They were asking for things even CAC didn't ask us. And one week later we were still on it. I went to the bank and I was referred to their contact person who charged us 1k. We paid at about 10 am and by 2 pm of same day they were calling us to come collect our certificate.

Oga it's not guaranteed to be same day, it all depends on the branch, how effective and customer concerned they are. although mine was next day, but i have seen some people whom theirs took more than 3days

I did mine within that region aswell.... It was smooth, Ironically my cop account is with GTB and I didnt go thru all those. (Tho i have the account for yrs now).

Just engage the services of a Lawyer to avoid mistakes......una want make hunger kill Lawyers? haba.

What did you pay for...? TIN application is free.

@op, whats the address of the registered company or the business address. I will be able to give u more info if the above question is answered.

I see many incorrect info on this thread, am going to clear them very soon.

Sorry sir, your post is misleading, withholding tax is not a tax on its own but is deducted as a payment on account or deposit against future companys income tax liability.

TIN is Taxpayers Identification Number.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PROCESSING TIN.

FOR A COMPANY:
1.Incorporation Number
2.Name of company
3. Business address
4. Registered address
5. Line of business
6. Date of Incorporation
7. Date of commencement of business
8. Financial year end

You will have to take The certificate of incorporation with u.

Remember, the tax office to go to depends on the business address of the company. Hope this helps.

I went to GTB to Open a corporate acct with my business name. The guy told me I need TIN. Begged him to help me process it. I gave him copies of my docs and I got my TIN after 3wks.
