Daguccizgreat: Akpabio is indeed an under rated governor. He has completed many good projects and so many nearing completion. I stand to pinpoint him as the best performing governor presently and not the over rated fashola
No doubt about that, he's the best performing governor. I wonder where he's getting money from, to build this magnificent masterpiece. This is a man with vision, mission & accountability. God bless His Excellency, God bless Akwa Ibom state, God bless Nigeria.

gabrielmorinho: Any other state receiving the federal allocation akwa ibom is receiving. could do even more provided its a governor that loot and leave some change for the state.

Its a normal thing that should b done on average. maintainance will really be a problem.

for the past three years, i have been to ph, calabar, uyo and yenagoa, i realise realised akwa ibom state is just trying to imitate there father state - cross river.
i don't think they can catch up with them in the next decade.

prestigious states to visit in the various geo-political zones:
south-south : ph, calabar.

southwest: lagos, ibadan

southeast: enugu, awka

north central: lokoja, jos

northwest and Northeast: kaduna, kano.

REASONS WHY AKWA IBOM SHOULD SURPASS OTHER STATES IN NIGERIA. IN DEVELOPMENT IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS
1.She is one of the smallest state in nigeria with huge allocation if not the smallest.

2.good number of. her people are scattered outside the state.

3. Its leaders are fund of mimicking cross river culture of maintenance but cant keep up.
AND MANY MORE. NO TIME TO CONTINUE.
bt its nt even up to 2yrs years that akwa ibom started receiving d highest allocation...so what significant dev. Did those other states recorded when they wer receiving the highest allocation? D fact is that Akpabio is a masterplanner nd most of his projects are funded by borrowed funds which he pays back wen d basci allocation comes.

Ok Guys, the Gov actually said the cost of the Stadium complex was N60 billion last week on a Super Sport Documentary about the Uyo stadium, however he also said that the contract involves Julius Berger maintaining the stadium for the next 10 years so that it does not end the way of the other stadia in the country. So lets calm down, I am an Akwa Ibomite of Annang extraction. Cheers all

Akpabio's administration is a farce filled with liars, manipulators. I still stand on my word that it's #62Billion and they can't hide the fact. Their financial records says so. They are probably hard put to disclose such a sum publicly. It's a monumental fraud. Eyebrows have been raised. Why didn't they publish this #16 billion farce in even one of the nearly 30 odd papers published in the state? Why didn't they post it on The Nation and punch which are widely read in the state. Look my brother,it's bad...very bad...and i mean the financial position of our state with debts approaching #600billion. Forget all the gimmicks you see here, the idi0t of the OP doesn't know what he's saying and he's a true supporter of this farce.

Again thank God you've admitted that the governor said that. Do you know the reason why? The financial records of the state states so though #62Billion is what we have there and not #60Billion and he wants that to tally with what we have on record. There's nothing like Julius Berger maintaining the stadium for 10 years is just an avenue to cover up since it's already known. For your information too,i am 100% Ibibio and from Uyo LGA to be precise.

Assuming both of you are correct i have scourced the net to compare ibom stadium with similar stadiums in modern times in Europe to figure the price disparity :
1.)Allianz riviera Nice france multipurpose capacity 35,624 All covered Price Euros 245million = N 56.4bn but was completed in sept 2013. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allianz_Riviera

2.)Arena Lviv, Ukraine Football specific stadium capacity 34,915 All covered cost: Euros 211million =N 45.8b but was completed in oct 2011
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arena_Lviv

3.)Tele 2 Arena Stockholm Sweden multi purpose stadium capacity 30,001 football all seated cost :Euros 290million = N63bn was completed july 2013 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tele2_Arena

by my estimation assuming that you guys are correct which i havent seen any evidence to buttress the N62bn cost except your word of mouth. I think Akpabio can still defend the cost of the stadium when you adjust for inflation and additional cost of building in Africa. but i now believe that if that stadium cost N62bn its on the high side.

Eyop there are lots of things that can inflate cost of a project besides looting. look at the figures and you will notice that even your N62bn is within range for a project of such magnitude and quality.

Until you can back up your claim with evidence they remain a rumor. Look above i did some search for you on the stadium cost since aquafima supported your N60b claim.there are similar stadiums in europe that cost as much.
Akpabio can still defend the cost of the stadium even if it cost that much

60 billion!! Why? Truth be told that is a waste of money. That money would be better spent on prOjects that would create employment for the largely ignorant people of AK. Even if the money was spent on fishing boats,Palm oil etc that would have been a whole lot better as anyone who knows AK will tell you. There are enough water resources there to feed Nigeria with fish and seafood with the right vision. This on the other hand is a decaying (depreciating) asset used to steal money just like the National stadium in Abuja built by OBJ and the Tinapa project. Alternatively he could lend that money to the FG which is selling T-bills at over 10% at the moment if the had no ideas

This project reinforces the case that the North are making ; some states dont have enough money while others have too much money and do not know what to do with it. The case of AK is particularly striking because most of its derivation comes from off shore oil. MY point is this the state creation process was quite arbitrary Why should AK have a greater claim on off shore derivation money than Cross River ; these are the same people in many ways. If oil were to be discovered off the coast of Lagos I believe Ogun state should have a claim but That is a LOCAL debate. On the National front if we are to continue as One nation this kind of disparity is wrong especially when it is being blatantly wasted and stolen Yes there should be derivation but there must be some mechanism of FORCED SAVING and INVESTMENT for future generations such as is the case in NORWAY. A stadium is just not a priority at a time of such suffering and insecurity in the country. If there is nothing to do why not save the money 60 billion would build 12000 at 5 million each and create thousands of jobs. This is just shameful but is exactly what happens when too much power is concentrated in one person. What about the Ibaka seaport he made so much noise about? Is that not more sensible than this?

[b]The real point is that the PDP is too deeply in support of this crook because of the money he has spread all over the place. The corruption is too much and the people are suffering. That Kleptocrat called Akpabio is the worst looter in the history of government in this country.

A few overcosted projects and he has been screaming that he is a performer when he has actually stolen the whole money. My brother that's the avenue they use to steal the money and the same with his local government chairman who was caught in the United States with cash he never declared & what was his excuse? That was meant for donation on an expired event and who knows how many times that had been laundered before he was caught.

Areas that he should concentrate on like you rightly mentioned the Ibaka seaport project,he's doing otherwise. Some idi0ts won't see this but rather sing his praises. Well,i don't blame them but he'll be disgraced and history(same that happened in Delta state that the governor his paying for now) will repeat itself again and this time Akwa-Ibom state in some years to come.
