There is a big lesson to be learnt from this. Dont mess with copyright rules. Simple.

See her response.
===========================================================================

Yesterday, a certain Mr. Aye Dee sparked 'e-excitement' when he announced that Google had begun action against Linda Ikeji's blog for content theft/copyright infringement.

We posted tweets from Mr. Aye Dee yesterday here.

Linda Ikeji, on her blog today, has responded to the news. In a blog post titled "To the guys that want to take down LIB, here's a message to you...lol" the blogger said the reason she was being attacked was because of the success of her blog.

She wrote that Mr. Aye Dee and a team of IT experts had been working on a plan to take down her blog. She said they had initially hit her blog with spam, and this had forced Google to take down her adsense. After that, she said, they kept sending her 'phishy' emails in a bid to hijack her blog.

She accused his team of cyber-squatting and of owning the LindaIkeji.net domain name. She said their ultimate goal was to force her to pay to own a domain (which they'd already acquired).

Excerpts from her blog:

I admit that I take content from other sites. Plenty of it sef, but the question is, which website in the world doesn't? If you go on Bossip.com, 50% of what is there is from other sources. Daily Mail UK takes from other sites, re-writes and give credit. UK Mirror takes from other sites. MediaTakeOut quotes other sources. E! Online, Us Weekly, People and even CNN take news from other sources and give credit, so why is mine an offense to the extent that my blog deserves to be shut down? Even in Nigeria, which site doesn't take news from other sites? Which? That is how media runs. Perez Hilton makes $10million a year from blogging and 50% of content on his site is not originally his. As long as you give credit...which I do! Except in cases where you don't know the original source of the story or photo. So many blogs take content from my site, how many of them have I gone after? In fact, I'm happy that they do so, I have nothing against it. If I take content from another site and they approach me to take it down despite giving credit, I will take it down. But that doesn't happen.

I try as much as possible to get as many exclusives as I can, but because I work from home my team is so small. I've been planning to employ more hands which I will do eventually and then get a proper office. I'm kinda glad this happened. It's now pushing me to act and take my business more seriously.

So Mr Aye Dee, Mr EE, Mr #bringmedown or whoever you are and Jeremy Weate (look who is talking ..lol) and all the others talking, I am not afraid of you! You didn't bring me this far and you're not enough to bring me down. Like if you dream it, speak it, act it, hope it, envision it, see it, pray it....YOU are not enough! You can't bring a good woman down. You can try boo, or please keep trying...but you see this lady, she ain't going nowhere. You don't even know who you are dealing with. You don't know what drives me and how far I plan to go. I've been a hustler since I was 17, doing it on my own...on my own terms. Plus I have the backing of God...and of course my hundreds of thousands of readers. I repeat, YOU are not enough!

Now dis is what we all re talkin bout... Why cant u just do your tinx on d low (which is tryin to recuperate your site).. Instead still pump'n ur ego by sayin all dose shiiis in ur last paragraph...

Seriously, i tought she would av learnt a lesson from seun as to the steps he took when dis site got attacked/hacked for no just cause..

Well, i guess u just gotta give it up for seun.

Psychedelia:
Nigeria is a country drowning in so much rot and corruption that illegality is seen as 'normal' by the populace.
Nobody sees anything wrong in Nollywood movies playing American songs in their soundtracks; and in ALL cases, these songs are used without permission from their respective owners.
Are you aware plagiarism is a SERIOUS crime in progressive countries?
Are you aware Disney's use of the song, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" for their Lion King film, without properly clearing the rights, led to a serious legal battle that lasted more than 10 years?
You don't know these things, because this is Naija, where anything goes. How can you justify lifting someone else's intellectual property without permission and using it for your own profit?
This has nothing to do with "haters" and "bad belle people". The truth needs to be said, and Linda Ikeji messed up big time.
How many photographers does she have on her payroll? Save for her personal pictures, can she honestly lay claim to any single photo on her blog right from the day she began? No.
Google had to pull the plug on her blog, because if they had relented, they would have been served a lawsuit for aiding plagiarism too!
And I haven't even gotten down to her complacent approach to her own 'brand'.
You mean to tell me for all these years she was appearing on magazines as the country's leading blogger, she never thought of properly consolidating her own blog? For goodness sake, all these years, and all these Range Rover photos, she was just comfortable with the free meal from .com? It never crossed her mind to get a proper domain?
BellaNaija has one, Stella Dimoko has hers. Hell, even smaller bloggers like That1960Chick and Laila all have their domains, so what excuse did Linda really have for not buying a spot as soon as her blog started getting warm in 2010?
She has nobody else to blame but herself.

Cold truth... Tough love
Linda wishing u a speedy rebirth!
Annnnnd try not to step on many pple toes to much, when u return; by spreading lies.
Money is not everything!

U guys should be reasonable enough na...why looking at the removal because she has got the name already....we shouldn't forget about what she did ... If truly that she copy and paste Mr aye Dee work without giving credit to him then that's bad hence its stealing.... And Mehnnn that's a big offense in internet/white men world..unlike us here where we re saying na beefing...if she was truly serious abt blogging like she said in her interview when she posted the pic of her range SUV....she shouldn't be doing copy and paste news ...she should truly investigate before updating on her site...remember baddo olamide almost fought her for saying nonsense about him...my verdict is if what she did is wrong and the penalty is what she got , then so be it...remember na oyinbo get google not nigerians that's easy to give either yansh or brown envelop to....

So sad. After several attempt by her enemies especially the hacker called Mr Aydee, they've finally succeeded in geting Google to remove the site after they lodged a campaign of copyright infringement against her. This must be a big blow to the multimillionaire blogger who is Africa's number one. She is expected to release a statement on this. Earlier in the day she told her readers that she's been trying to get a domain name but the internet squatters have hijacked most of the likely name she cud use. That's a multimillionaire business google has just shut down! Couldn't they have verified all this allegations against her and know that it's the handiwork of hackers and haters!

They should also have known that most people in Nigeria actually registered on blogger cos of her(I guess)

The only seemingly meaningful thing about this post is a pretty girl leaning on a fine vehicle. Other things are 'multimillionaire, haters, etc'. I kinda get irked the way children online use the word 'haters' or 'hating'. Even cripples claim to be hated. Bums, and danfo drivers too. What do the poster know about hating to write about? Obviously the poster is a fan of petty gossip from the legally brought down blog. According to a sports journalist, Abiola Kazeem, while her contemporaries where buying domains, she was busy buying cars. Don't know her nor her blog, but I know Google can't do so without legal backings. Meaning, your dear Linda has been feeding fat off other people's hard work. Q.E.D.

Google owns .com and plagiarism is forbidden in their terms of use.
