My mum was diagnosed of an aggressive type of breast cancer and in less than 4 months, we lost her. .

Had a lumpectomy some few months later and the histology results came as a benign growth.

I still feel this apprehension like I need to go for further tests and with this month being breast cancer awareness month and all. Pls do you guys know where I can do a mammography? I'm currently in Oyo State.

I'm so sorry dear. How did her condition deteriorate to that extent?

I know what you must be going through now. Please be strong for her and try make her see reasons why she should undergo mastectomy.

UCH Ibadan is your best bet. The place might be a lil bit stressful, but you'll get proper medical attention.

Hello dear. Sorry about your mum.

Well for a start you need to take your case serious as it would help you in the long run.

I'm not a medical practitioner but from my little knowledge It shows you have a breast cancer history in your family. Sometimes I have heard it being called a BRAC mutation from a gene like that.

It is often advised to take tests like two to three times at different places.
Union diagnostic, the specialists are still the most reliable in lagos and probably nigeria at large.

You lump could be non cancerous and could be dcis (ductal carcinoma in situ). Either way you will need a biopsy to determine and since you have had lumpectomy pls request for that your sample (the removed lump) and take it to another lab. It's better than being sorry later.

my lump came as fibroadenoma most likely dcis but it ended up as invasive ductal carcinoma.

Dcis is a form of breast cancer that hasn't spread or is contained in the milk duct but it can be quickly treated so it doesn't become invasive.

And people with history of breast cancer in their family can start taking tamoxifen for 5 years.

But please see a trained oncologist not just any doctor.

I have never lived in ibadan but uch will be your best bet.
Or better still go to breast cancer research project facility in ibadan at uch and ask for Mr abayomi tunde , he is in a much better position to help and besides you won't need to go through some time consuming process

Is there a reason why your mum declined? Or she's one of the religious peeps like my sister?

What are the steps you both have taken?

Is she willing to get treatment or she has some reservations?


She needs treatment early enough and her cancer stage needs to be known and the type of cancer she has .

I don't advice she goes to all these government hospitals she should go to a privately owned clinic.

My mastectomy was done at mercy clinic (lumico) at Folarin street mushin lagos and he's a pretty good surgeon.

Some people decline sugery because of the aftermath the shock of living with one bre.ast.
Some decline sugery because of their belief.
I met someone during my visits who declined surgery cos she wanted to die with her complete body part. Wierd!

I declined reconstruction because I had a phobia of having the cancer return to the affected br.east. Which happened even without reconstruction. I had a recurrence.

I have read about this soursop thing but I don't know the potency yet. I have just started taking it so I will post the pictures.

Soursop juice cocktail
5 leaves branches + stem
5 medium sized garlic cloves
7 ginger sprout

then stuff in a pot and boil. Then I sip while hot. My goal is to take 3 teacup in a day but I have only managed in taking one lol
