Madam Ngozi, let me give you and your fellow liers who think Nigerians are fooool my two cent; And is just simple, you said when the economy crumbled in 2007 N 2008 there was over. $30b was in the excess crude account which was available for spending.. My thought is now that this govt has ransacked that account with less than $2b left, which money will your govt be spending this time that a 2007 2008 financial dejavu is iminent.. Pls be honest and stop foooling us some more madm.

Pls we are in the age of INTERNET where all reports are gotten at the snap of the finger.. So check your data well.. $2b for where... I am surprised you can believe this VERY cheap lie from whatever source or maybe OPPOSITION..
If that were true, you will not be in your home or where you are now typing what you have typed...
You will probably be in a public square for #OCCUPY_Rebranded protest demanding for the RESIGNATION of all of our leaders for MASS failure....

She urged Nigerians to bear with the nature of
the economy, adding that it was the reason
every effort was challenged to ensure the
economy was diversified.

FOR HOW LONG. Didn't we hear this during OBJ regime?
At the end the Government will blame NIGERIANS and the Opposition for their failures.

Maybe some us (NIGERIANS) needs to study ECONOMICS... That will help us to understand the Economy of Nations...
That will also help us to understand the cheap lies of the oPposition led parties on the state of the ruling government. Only in Nigeria have I seen that the OPPOSITION doesn't see anything good in EVERY ACTION taken by the ruling Government...

FOR YOUR INFORMATION....
You are on your OWN since time immemorial... So look for what thing you can do, (service you can render inyour community, that will earn you a living) to improve your life.....
REASON is--- study this topics in ECONOMICS-- National Income, you have GDP, GNI, NNP, GNP and all others under it.
When the Economic calculations says the country is doing well, the masses may not see it at all, yet it is the buying, selling and consumption of the masses that gave birth to the data that shows positive growth... In other words... Those increases and improvements show BIG opportunities...

ACTION::
Stop complaining, SIT DOWN and THINK about how this portrayed growth will bring growth to my own pocket or business... Think about how to improve your present product or business or how to start a new service...

You will be surprised that in years to come, this WOMAN you are all abusing will be called back to serve as a minister of Finance and Economic Coordinator AGAIN (if Jesus Tarries)...

Did I hear you say WHY...? (they are Experts in their field)-- the best of Politician knows who to bring in and when..

Then think of Professor Jerry Gana and all the military head of states he served under plus even our democratic era.

I see many heartbreaks and possible suicides come 2015 because GEJ is unstoppable.

Root cause solution after 38 yrs of damage with no regard to human right is what Team GEJ is achieving

Yes, He has made the little progress he can make (NIPP are fully Constructed). But, have you been in a government establishment before...?
You know all the bottlenecks that surrounds government doing business..

That MEANS government cannot provide you what you fully want.
businesses knows they won't make profit if they don't produce or offer good service to customers... But your brothers, sisters and daddies and Mummies in Govt Establishments knows that their salary MUST enter either they make sure approval is given for them to purchase a needed raw material or not......

#WAKE UP MY PEOPLE......

What pains me most is that THE SAME PEOPLE will change badge and clothing and stand as OPPOSITION Promising HEAVEN that things will get better when the ECONOMICS of the WORLD ECONOMY is blinking boldly that SOCIAL SECURITY services you see in developed nations are not #SUSTAINABLE in this #GENERATION....

Please don't push government responsibility to the people.

IF I provide power for my bussines- Generator
IF I provide extra security for my bussines
IF I provide water for my bussines
IF I provide basic amenities for thesame bussines

Then whats the function of the government. Businesses will surely transfer these cost to the consumer to stay afloat.

Yet we pay TAX and Revenue to the same government.

Facts and figures that translates into ordinary Nigerian lives? Here is a fact, over 70% of Nigerians live on $2/day.
A bigot like you, who is she, she is a public figure that must be scrutinized, but when you have a lackey like you, who will never think deep to challenge whoever you think is your father or mother. You wonder why Nigeria will never progress, it's because of this type of dastard.
What does this got to do with future generations, is this what your religious leader taught you? You're too sick and have no foresight talk less of next generation. I'm just baffled at how folk like this think, it's very appalling.

Yes we pay taxes.. And there is no effective taxation in Nigeria. That is why they are doing what they are doing.. And if you charge the cost to consumers, will they not pay, if they stop paying, that means your service was not meant for them initially.

My simple advise is #WAKE_Up.
Don't expect anything called best from the GOVERNMENT.

bruno419:
Abuja – The Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi
Okonjo–Iweala, has assured Nigerians that the
economy is growing positively in spite of the
reduction of oil price in the international market.
Okonjo-Iweala, who stated this on Tuesday at
the 2014 Ministerial Platform in Abuja, said the
nation was not broke as being speculated in the
media.
She said “if you look back two years ago, that
title `is Nigeria broke‘ was written in a
newspaper article, it is like people are trying to
force Nigeria into brokerage.
“I think since two years, we have managed to
keep things going, let me explain these; Nigeria
is a country that depends on a stream of
income.
“That income is being able to collect taxes from
companies, individuals and our income is also
based on selling a product and that product you
take to market and you take whatever price a
buyer is willing to pay.’’
According to her, government is doing
everything within its power to ensure economic
stability in the country.
She said that presently, government had been
budgeting below the existing oil price to help
build buffers in case of uncertainty.
“We are operating an economy that depends on
a product that fluctuates with oil price and we
don’t have the right to control the price.
“Just like you have in your own household, when
the quantity diminishes or the price drops, you
remember in 2007 to 2008, the price of oil
dropped from 140 dollars to 38 dollars.
“At that time, nobody asked if the country was
broke because we had saved up 22 billion dollars
in the Excess Crude Account and we were able
to continue spending and to stablise the
economy.’’
The minister said that presently Nigeria was
faced with fluctuations in quantity and price of
oil, adding that it had affected the amount paid
into government coffers.
“Does that mean that the country is broke? We
still have resources that we depend on; we still
have the ability to tax.
“Sometimes, things need to be a little tighter,
easier and we just have to weather it and
manage ourselves but that does not amount to
the country being broke.’’
The finance minister said if government was not
able to pay salaries to people and continue to
manage, “then we can say that the country is
broke but we have not gotten there yet.’’
She urged Nigerians to bear with the nature of
the economy, adding that it was the reason
every effort was challenged to ensure the
economy was diversified.
Commenting on the management of the fiscal
deficit, she said that the Ministry of Finance
would continue to ensure that it was kept as
narrow as possible.
She said that in 2013, the debt to Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) ration was 1.4 per cent
and 1.03 per cent in 2014 and projected to be
one per cent in 2015 budget. .
She added that borrowing had been on the
decline and external debt stood at N1.46 trillion
or 14 per cent of the total debt.
The ministry had adopted prudence to debt
management and Nigeria’s debt to GDP remained
one of the lowest in the world. (NAN)
