I knew the SW would eventually get their own "Yerima". He approved Hijab for students and nothing happened , what stops him going the whole hog of demanding a form of sharia like Yerima?

Such brand of islam is like a counter-culture. Once you get yourself in it, it gives no room for going back.
He better not bring a replica of Kano or Katsina to the SW. Political leadership is not all about good governance.

Na wa for Aregbe ooh. Why is there a need to approve a public holiday for that? It's not as if Christians have their own new year. That said, I'd love to be working in Osun State right now. I loooove public holidays.

When his counterpart from ekiti state was prostrating in a church, did any one raise the issue of religious intolerance, because its involve an islamic governor, everyone was just bitter about him. and perhaps was the holiday for muslim alone. its for everybody's enjoyment.

No Governor can stand this man in terms of handling religion issues... He is fair to both sides.
Christians, Muslims and the traditional worshippers are given holidays to celebrate.

That his counterpart prostrated in church isn't to be equated with declaring a public holiday. By this singular act, Osun State has sent out a clear signal and those in the know, will decode it...
Na so play play, Nigeria join OIC, and till date we still dey tori on top am

I am a Christian, but will not subscribe to the opinion that the declaration of this holiday represents fanaticism. Afterall, some of the religion's days are already being enjoyed as holidays by default.

However, I will be quick to point out that such actions indicate that tolerating him further, is dangerous to the harmony being enjoyed already by the heterogeneous religions.

The real danger however, is that he is setting a dangerous precedent. The majority of Christian's new year day is the Advent which if I am not mistaken, is sometimes in November.

What happens if in the basis of this, they demand a day as well?

How dare you call that enjoyment? I see decline in productivity, you see enjoyment? Lazy mindset with nothing tangible to do with their time will call it enjoyment....

Nigeria has too many public holidays and anymore holiday should be frowned upon; whether it's a Muslim or Christian Holiday......

Thanks, my brother. Leaders that have nothing to offer hide under religion. Compare Nigeria to developed countries. At a time when we should spend more days working to increase our productivity and catch up with the developed world some leaders are promoting religious holidays."My people perish for lack of knowledge." In what ways does that put food on the table of Osun citizens?

See all this hypocrites complaining about fanaticism. Nigerian is neither a Christian state nor an Islamic state. So I think they should have equal rights, if we give holiday for easter ( the death of 1 ordinary dude), why is it extreme to declare a holiday for the New year celebration of a group of people.

^^I said most (not all) Christians recognize this as the beginning of their New year. If I were you, I would have googled that up as it is an opportunity to learn. I will still help you with Wiki though.....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advent_Sunday

"Advent Sunday is the first day of the liturgical year in the Western Christian churches. It also marks the start of the season of Advent.[1] In the Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, and Methodist churches the celebrant wears violet-coloured or blue vestments on this day, and the first violet or blue Advent candle is lit at Mass. In the Church of Sweden, however, the Liturgical colour is white: the motivation is that the day is a joyful feast (the colour is changed to blue, the traditional colour for Advent in Scandinavia, or—if the church does not possess blue vestments—violet after 6 p.m.). Zechariah 9:9–10 and Matthew 21:1–9 are always read in the service, and the symbolism of the day is that Christ enters the church." Sourcehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advent_Sunday
