I got a call fro my aunt to help with her with her ph.d project so i went to pick a friend's laptop, bought fuel for gen..... To cut long story short i finished midnight and intended to return the laptop this morning.

On saturday, an uncle brought a gal home.... They took a room... The gal seems nice so i warmed up to her... If she wanted to use the laptop to watch film, i let her have it when i'm tired out.

When i came out, the gal was no longer in my room. I went upstairs to check her but alas, everywhere is empty.... She has quietly packed her things and left.... With my friend's laptop.

I went to see my uncle.... He called her... The gal is asking for 30,000 before she will release the laptop... My uncle say she came from warri so we dont know her place.

I can't involve police cos am broke.... I havent told my friend about it yet..... How can i explain this to him?

Since you intentionally gave out laptop knowing fully well your aunts phd thesis related work was on it, then gave the same laptop to the girl your uncle brought home, i'd say you all know what you're doing.

Ask your aunt or friend for the money so they can at least have the laptop back but with the thesis in the hands of lord knows who .

This really is his mess. Let him know you haven't got the sort of money she's asking for, and you need to return the laptop to the owner sharpish. You've even got someone's Uni project stored on there too, haven't you?

If your uncle insists on not getting involved, then let him know you have no other choice but to report the matter to the police. Let him borrow the funds if he has to - not your business else it becomes family matter and police wahala too. I'm especially keen for the police to get involved because that lady has issued you a threat. You going there by yourself doesn't sound safe to me. People need to know what's going on, so that if things take a bad turn, they'll know where you were at the very least.

If that uncle of yours has any shred of self respect, he'll sit up and sort this out else his fiancee needs to be in the know of his philandering ways.
