I am learning so much. Then again, must importation be started with a laptop or android phone? Won't a simple java phone work? Ymodulus sir
a java phone would work to an extent, but you would need a system to complete the process
dozieben2:

thanks boss for the helpful tips.
i'm close to agreeing a deal for some goods on alibaba. but the manufacturer is saying he can only receive payments through western union and TT. first i don't have much info about TT. then the western union is it a reliable medium? i tried asking to pay through escrow or paypal but he declined.
thanks in anticipation of your response. you can reach me on j_ch***zie@yahoo.com
TT or western union is not advisable. Is he a gold supplier? Has he been verified? Tell him you have an agent in china that would make payment on ur behalf.

What of an android or blackberry device? A laptop is not available now. Would these ones work?

You really don't need a laptop. It will be better if you can get an android phone or better still a BB; an android is more preferable.

NB; I started importation with my Nokia X3 Java phone. Since I started this biz, I have never used a laptop or desktop to make any payment.

This is God sent. Wouldn't an android be more expensive? Considering the subscription. A blackberry would be sufficient, wouldn't it?

An android could be more expensive, but it sure will give you an upper hand when it comes to chatting with sellers and other. Infact, you can even download the site as an app and surf easily. I don't use an android, hence, I don't know much about the data plan, however, I have heard of different ways of browsing with an android phone using BB subscription by changing the IMEI number.

Thank you very much. I do not think those things really work. But, I would scout for one.

Please what's the difference between embossed, Debossed and printed. Which is better?

Please what's the difference between embossed, Debossed and printed. Which is better?
Debossed Wristbands
Debossed wristbands are the most common . Debossed refers
to the fact that the design is actually recessed
down into the wristband itself. To accomplish
this, a custom bracelet mold is manufactured
that incorporates whatever customized design
that is desired. Because they require a mold to
be manufactured, custom debossed bracelets
are more expensive and take longer to produce
than printed bracelets or laser-engraved
bracelets.
Embossed Wristbands
Embossed wristbands are not nearly as
common, yet they are an excellent choice if you
are looking for a custom silicone bracelet that is
more stylish and unique. An embossed bracelet
also incorporates any custom design and
requires a mold to be manufactured. However,
with embossed bracelets, the fully customized
design is raised up off the wristband as opposed
to recessed down into the wristband. Pricing and
turnaround times for embossed bracelets are
very similar to that of debossed bracelets.
Printed Wristbands
Printed wristbands are by far the most
economical choice. Printed bracelets start with a
blank wristband and are then silk-screen
printed. The "technology" for screen-printing
wristbands has come a long way. The dyes used
today actually penetrate the silicone rubber of
the wristband. Many people are under the
impression that the print which is used on
printed bracelets is cheaply painted on and will
crack or flake off. With a reputable custom
silicone bracelet manufacturer, this simply is not
the case. You can expect the printing to last the
lifetime of the silicone wristband itself. Printed
bracelets do not require a mold to be
manufactured. Instead, a template is produced
that is used to apply the custom design onto the
bracelets. Because a template is used rather
than a mold, printed wristbands are less
expensive with quicker turnaround times than
debossed and embossed wristbands.
debossed is the best.

@ Ymodulus, you are doing a great job here... keep it up.

Let me add to it.... having a biz deal with secondary schools and university is the easiest way this days to making it from importation business.

As some of my followers are asking me on whatsapp on how i collected contract of tabs worth 1.6m last year from two schools tho i mentioned the tactics i employed on the thread.

But lemme still chip in here.

Just make friends with any of the student of the school or go with someone closer with the school management, let the person vouch for you that you can handle that. Tho your success is high if you have your company registered with CAC, or if you are vouched by any community leader in that area where you want to do the biz.

Always, i repeat always go with prototype of any biz you want to do with these people(i mean samples) That way your chances are also high.

which everyone what they wish themselves.

This is easy, i believe from the pictures you should understand what and how to use them. Note giving of reciept is not mandatory but is highly advisable.

Summary / Quick Tips on Proposal

1. Always attach printed pictures of past works to your proposal. Note please print the pictures of your previous works in color
2. If you like you may use a computer and projector to present your proposal to your clients. (Though this is really not needed most times, except where you need to impress ).
3. Avoid Lengthy proposal. Nigerians hate reading, also proposal should be short precise concise and straight to point.

Chapter 13

Payment and Funding of Contract

There are three ways payment or contract can be funded. These are;
1. Company or Organization pays you a certain percentage before work (e.g 705 ) and complete payment after job (30%)
2. Company pays All before job is executed
3. You finance all the payment yourself and the company pays you after job is done.

I will advice you that you should never attempt 2, its risky and if project is big way above your capital you will have to source for funds of might be difficult. Also to avoid stories of the organization not paying you after job done do not attempt case 3.

Please, Please Please avoid payment case 2. I had a nasty experience on this. I never lost, it was one, if not the most successful business deal i have done till ,date, however i had to go sourcing for loan. No one gave me listening ears, i had to source for funds. Though all things went well and i executed the job well.

Lesson i Learnt: Never try to go above your ability all in the name of pleasing a client.
