Unfortunate. Really sad tale for this nation. I pity this country's youth. I spent 9 years, in fact 10 years, in school (Even though I never had even a single COV) due to this collapsed system called Nigeria. SMH

On a lighter note grin grin grin

Mc4larin:
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may be going on another very long strike just a year after they called off their 5-month long strike, following the Federal Government inability to honour the agreement it reached with the lecturers during the last strike.

Speaking yesterday at a press briefing in remembrance of the killing of former ASUU leader, Professor Festus Iyayi by the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada,
ASUU lamented the failure of the Federal
Government to fulfill its promises.

The union disclosed that no government-owned university had received a dime from the N200 billion the government said it had set aside for the revitalization of university education in the current year.

Chairman, Nnamdi Azikiwe University branch of ASUU, Comrade Dennis Aribidor said: “It seems Iyayi’s death opened the pandora box that suggests that ASUU’s relationship with government might seem irreconcilably hostile.

While he fought for a just cause, ASUU is
presently skeptical that he died in vain especially since the contention over honouring the ASUU-FG 2009 agreement, which cut his life short, is still far-fetched. This position is based on some hard truths.”

Details on AIT Online

Good morning Nigerian students....and lecturers.

In 2009....ASUU signed an agreement with the Government....N3trillion over four years. By 2013...it was not paid...so government begged ASUU to reduce it to one trillion over five years...at the rate of N200bn naira.

Now....the money HAS NOT BEEN PAID.

Nigerian students....I guess we should expect fees to jump up next year. Because, with the fall in the oil prices....there isn;t going to be enough money for education. You may protest all night long...but at the end of the day....you will end up paying fees as high as N300000. Maybe N500000.

Because we are an oil dependent society....producing far less oil than Libya, UAE and Norge....and for a population of 170 million people...the money is not enough.

At which point....I would have to ask you students to prepare your mind. The era of cheap education is over. There isn't any money left. It is everyone for himself.

Until Nigeria becomes an industrial nation with a very high per-capita GDP....we may have to pay higher fees. Or else....have hundreds of poor students who cannot compete with Rich man's kids and dependents in the job market because rich man's kids have gone to properly equipped schools....while poor man's kids...

where are the stupid ppl shouting GEJ till 2019, now ASUU is going to strike again. If people are trying to destroy your adminstration, then you make it up in some area's. When there is insurgency then you make people feel you in educational sector. Abi shey na him opponent dey cause dis one too. We student the only way we can help is by voting these our once a lecturer president out.
Note ain an apc member, you can vote any party. We dont want him again
