I believe GMB is a good man. If given the chance, he will begin the process of leading Nigeria out of the woods. However, here are some factors that will stop the General come 2015.

1. Nigeria and Nigerians are not truly ready for change, they prefer the status quo, because many of them are benefitting immensely from the many loopholes of the system.

2. Southerners don't like Buhari cos they believe he is an Islamic extremist/fundamentalist. This will make it difficult to win down south, just like in previous elections.

3. All the powerful people who have looted and ruined Nigeria are in PDP. They obviously want to enjoy their loot in peace without the interference of a no-nonsense Buhari.

4. A lot of people believe Buhari should step down and support a younger candidate who understands today's issues in Nigeria and not act like a desperate "old man" bent on seizing power by all means. Etc

5. PDP and their stomach infrastructure policy will see voters selling their votes to the highest bidder (PDP of course).

6. Nobody is yet to master the art of systematic rigging like PDP. They are masters of the game!

7. Buhari's poor past records especially in the area of human rights abuses as military head of state will haunt him

For the Nigeria of our dreams to emerge, Nigerians need to think out of the box and ignore all those elements seeking to divide us along ethno-religious lines.

Op you are so on point, you have spoken the mind of many people. GEJ is a case of the devil we know better than the angel we don't know. However, prepare for serious criticism by some political intellectuals on this forum and loyalists of the opposition party.

I don't think many Nigerians are benefitting from this British Creation, but are too cowardly to do anything about it. If we were to think outside the box, then Buhari would not even be in our thoughts, because we don't need an old army guy from 1983 to come in 2015 to be president.

Buhari has ran for office the last what, 3 times, as the main opposition. Does that not tell you something?

If we want real change , then don't vote PDP or APC, vote for someone like Utomi. If not, then organize yourself and lets have a revolution against these idiots, the mall ams, and the private jet owning pastors, ridding ourselves for good, nonsense.

Who's down?

All the powerful people who have looted
and ruined Nigeria are in PDP. They obviously
want to enjoy their loot in peace without the
interference of a no-nonsense Buhari.
Sorry to bursts your bubble,They are now with buhari in APC. One wonders how a self acclaimed Mr. Pius will be comfortable in the midst of all those corrupt ex pdp members.where 9 mad men and one sane man passes together, what we know is that ten mad people just passed. Same goes to thieves.

7. Buhari's poor past records especially in the area of human rights abuses as military head of state will haunt him

1. Majority of Nigerians do not benefit from the failed system except few that are in power. The present economic hardship hitting the country is another excuse for sane minded and financial experts to finance the opposition to defeat the incumbent to protected their dwindling business. The major economic crisis in the country is cause by negligence, corruption, impunity and lack of vision by the present government.

2. There are three zones in the south; south west, south east and south south. He might not be popular 2011 but now with the media and his alliance with known figures in the south, he is popular. His popularity in the south west is mighty, that it pays PDP if APC does not make Buhari their candidate. The south east and south south have a high support for GEJ but this time Buhari will have a higher entry than 2011. Remember that the total vote from south south and south east put together is less than a million vote higher than south west.

3. Yes, thanks for enlightening us about the financial war chest of PDP, but remember some of them wants to protect their fortunes economically in a viable state rather than in a failed state. Buhari don't really need the financial warriors but i am pretty sure that they would want to support the person who will protect their investment not someone who will plunge the country into financial mess. How do you think the present economic downfall in Nigeria will be fixed with this government that is clueless and lacks vision.

4. Thanks for the dream, Lots of countries that have changed from old ways to new ways were achieved by older men. From Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, etc. What we need now is a man of integrity and will power to change things. Most of the young men can be manipulated. But person like BUHARi, you can't cos he has seen so many things in life.

5. Stomach Infrastructure indeed, lets see how it goes. That depends on Nigerians cos after Ekiti issue, it became a eye opener.

6. Master rigging, lets see how it goes. I believe you can only rig in the where you are popular.

7. Indiscipline is now human right abuse, how about that of the current President. Abuse of power, Human right abuse, Impunity etc. All the cases of Human right abuse are well known military regime. What do you want to call the numerous one presently in civilian regime, cos i won't call this practice in Nigeria democracy but civilian dictatorship.

N/B. We need change, we are tired of failure, excuses, blame game. All we want is action.

VOTE GEJ OUT
VOTE BUHARI IN
#ibelieve.

I think most people who claim to be political intellectuals in this forum are nothing. OP you are talking about Buhari not winning a national election...when he is yet to win APC primaries.
I think the first focus for you guys that love Buhari should be to help him win APC primary before you try to present him to other Nigerians.
Trying to put Buhari side by side GEJ who is already a confirmed PDP candidate is like someone fighting over a mat when he has not gotten a land where he will lay the mat...
First thing first... Let Buhari be able to convince APC delegates to vote him... before... GEJ till 2019

I concur to the post above me!!! GMB is not a saint as you all think he's... Neither is GEJ.. He's evil too I agree.. We need a total change in this country..

These past Leaders have failed us and they will fail again, they only want to remain in power so as to continue perpetuate more evils and gain control over the Economic resources of our dear country..

Truly they say!!! Power is sweet, and that's y these failed and corrupt leaders still want to be in power and keep destroying this country.

We are sick and tired of hearing the same old repeated vagaries.

In a country of about 170million plus, is Buhari and Jonathan the best we can present?

Buhari is a delusional professional election runner and a serial loser. He and his followers are doing what they does best; dream about their imaginary landslide victory without any meaningful campaign, run, lose and then whine. 4 yrs later the circle continues. He really can't see the handwriting on the wall. Nigerians are no longer interested in coup plotters. His "Born to rule/win" idiocy is a serious impediment to his sense of judgement.

As for Jonathan, to say he is clueless is an understatement, his political advisers are not doing him any good. When he won the 2011 election a lot of folks were hopefully that change has come to our Great nation. After all he wasn't among one of the elitist, he was the professor without no shoes. We waited for almost 4yrs now, without seeing any tangible change. Having said the above, he tried in some field like agriculture, (education) opening of new university, including the almanjiri school up north. Who knows maybe if not for the Boko Haram insurgency up north, we would have felt some positive impact from his administration.

All in all, Nigerians deserve better than this lot.
