Iyabodeh, nice story, good plot & great pace.
You have a way with words that makes one glue to your writings. By the way, your diary is entertaining and hilarious; its spontaneity even makes it a better write up than this novella in my opinion.
Keep up the good work girl.
Pray, tell me, did you study literature related course or is this exhibition of raw talent?

Chapter 5: The Evil Love Birds

Francine hissed as she saw the taxi make a u-turn at the entrance to the estate. She had initially thought it was Tonia but when she saw that it was just a taxi, she'd relaxed. She however still wondered whom it was and if it had come from within the estate. She knew Tonia had said something about meeting Kris but what Tonia didn't know was that Kris was going to break up with her.

She had asked Kris to get rid of Tonia once and for all. She also had told him not to waste precious time playing any of his usual silly games with her. Tonia was supposed to be a means to an end for the two lovebirds. And Francine hadn't planned on her falling in love with anyone, especially not Kris, her own Kris.

She had started the rumour about traveling with Kris for the main purpose of it getting into Tonia's ears. It had worked but that stupid Kris had wanted a little more. What was with men and greed? Even if they had the most beautiful lady, the lust in them always seemed to yearn for a little side dish. Francine had always played along with it but there was something about Tonia that she had hated. She was too pretty and too carefree; exactly the type that distracts Kris.

Francine and Kris had collected what they wanted from Tonia. It had been smooth and she had fallen for it a lot of times, he wasn't supposed to keep frolicking with her. And the silly girl had fallen for Kris and Francine noticed that Kris was also falling for her. That was something he would never agree to. He was always on the defensive anytime they talked about it which only convinced Francine more.
............
Francine and Kris got together to start a business. They started with smuggling girls out of the country and then it graduated into drugs, but somehow Kris had been arrested with over 70grams of cocain and had ended up spending seven years in jail. He was thirty one by the time he got out.

However, while in incarceration, he had come into contact with a guy who had told him about how lucrative extortion, blackmail and kidnapping was in the present day Naija. He had gone looking for the contact he had been given and two months later, he had branched out. Only this time, he was the kingpin of emotional blackmail. The biggest one ever experienced in Nigeria and all was rosy between him and Francine until she met Tonia.
