afrodoc:as it happens, we are going to lack 'pawa' in the midfield so somehow Fellaini will find his way back in. if we can get someone like Strootman in Carrick's place or Vidal in Blind's place while Carrick gives way, then that midfield is heaven. although I will still drop di Maria to Herrera's place, depending on Mata/van Persie's form. it is a great problem to have as a coach, & the players in the first 11 knows it is an extreme privilege to start. as per Nani & Hernandez, they should stay on loan till the end of the season |

So much for Southampton being challengers for champions league places... Mscheeeeww... Small boys occupying spot meant for big boys... Beaten at home by 3goals like a true mid table team they are |

afrodoc: We are being sentimental about who should play. This formation is soft. We have a lot of good players vying for few positions that makes it difficult for us to choose. Many plyers have even gotten chance to play because of the injury problems we've had and when they came in they played well. Fellaini, Herrera and Blacket comes to mind. In a 4231 formation! RB - Rafael when he is injured we draft someone else who is not naturally a left back. CB - Evans, Smalling, McNair, Rojo, Jones we need just 2 for a game. LB - Blackett/Shaw Pivot - Blind, Herrera, Carrick, Fletcher Fellaini we need just 2 in a game. LW - Young/Di Maria CM - Rooney/Mata RW - januzaj/Valencia S - RVP/Falcao Hope I did not leave anyone out. The 352 LVG is trying to deploy even makes choosing players more complicated. Some big names will sit on the bench if everyone is fit, just like how everyone felt Herrera had been freezed out. If we buy strootman/Vidal and bring back Nani and hernandez. Well ur guess is as good as mine...... 1 Like |

joeace2020: The result did not reflect the performance. City were just trying to cope with Southampton display in the first half. Second half was still better for City but they were only coping. However, experience matters most. |

To be candid, we have many players, geez! And they are good players, Van Gaal's 3-5-2 will fit in two players in each position, 3 at the back, Smalling/Jones, Evans/Mcnair, Blacket/Rojo. 5 in the middle, Valencia/Rafael, Fellaini/Mata, Blind/Carrick, Di Maria/Herrera, Shaw/Young. 2 at the fore-front, Rooney/Januzaj, Vanpersie/Falcao. And the bench has got one or two youngies, meanwhile, Nani and Harnandez are coming back o. Nawa o! Abeg, we need just one or two solid defenders or better-still, one defender and one DM, then we can offload Evans and maybe Carrick. Seriously, this reminds me of 2007/2008/2009, too many players, infact, I see united in second position or even winning the league, bar injuries sha. |

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by codedguy1(m): 9:36pm On Nov 30, 2014 |
nitrogen: There is no reason why we should not finish as the top 2 this season. Just that the injuries have decided to concentrate on one area of the team the most or the two people earmarked for a particular position both get injured. See how it made a lot of sese taking out RVP for Falcao and the threat level was maintain (assuming both have been in form & injury free) The injuries are so annoying. |

Second time I have seen Dortmund play league football this season. Their game is uninteresting. One would enjoy a Kano Pillars game more. |

SailorXY: he's the best manager in germany.... you people don't realise the damage bayern munich have caused to them. they have lost top quality players to their league rivals in the last 2-3 years & that has truncated their progress. injuries have been unkind to them too. the players they have brought in have less quality than the ones they have lost. the board will keep faith with him but they need to spend more money & retain the precocious talents coming through. they cannot relegate......they are too good a side to slide down into oblivion. |

LVG not happy with the festive fixtures. This is a manager whose team is only playing in the EPL No UCL. No COC |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 2:05pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
Keky: 9 games in 36 days? it's madness. mourinho, wenger, SAF & nearly all the british managers have complained about the festive fixtures. bayern & co would get their usual 3-week rest while english clubs burn themselves out - when UCL resumes again, english clubs would be down to bare-bones while european clubs would be far more refreshed for the challenge. this is why english clubs rarely do well in europe. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by raumdeuter: 2:10pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
When English clubs were doing well in Europe between 2005-2009 were these fixtures absent? Only one English club would top their CL group, 2 might not even make it to knockout phase. Is this poor performance also due to the Xmas fixtures they haven't played? |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 2:13pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
raumdeuter: they learnt to cope in spite of the heavy fixtures. liverpool dumbed down their league challenge to win it in 2005. united had a big squad to win it in 2008.
the scars of last season's run are still apparent. only a fool would argue that fatigue doesn't heighten the risk of injuries in football. how can clubs who play 9-11 games in a month be in the same physical condition as the clubs who have their feet up in the same period? |

FABREGAS:ENGLISH LEAGUE NEEDS WINTER BREAK
raumdeuter, oya come & argue with fabregas. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by raumdeuter: 2:34pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
While other league players were stressing themselves in the summer and going deep into major competitions like world cup and euro cup English league players are mostly taking a break. E.g last summer while muller robben Lahm messi hummels were slugging it out in Brazil till mid July, most epl players were on vacation |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 2:37pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
raumdeuter: what vacation? what about the preseason that followed shortly after world cup? were robben & lahm not given up to a month to rest before joining their peers in preseason? you talk a lot of nonsense. uefa carried out a study & it was revealed a player is 4 times more likely to be injured in the last three months of the premier league than the other leagues in europe. checkmate!! 1 Like |
