Ondo state public servants go on strike
To the greatest shock of most parents and guardians all pupils and students of public schools in Ondo state were sent back home on tuesday 9th december 2014 as a result of failure of the state Governor to pay up due salaries for the past 2 months. All parastatals in the state were closed down and till now none has been opened.

Workers in the civil service of Ondo state would on Thursday embark on strike following government refusal to pay their salary.

The unpaid salary is the outstanding deductions for the months of September, October and November 2014.

The workers, who had on Monday threatened 2-days warning strike that elapsed on Wednesday, said the strike action became imperative following alleged uncaring attitude displayed by the Mimiko led government in the state.

In a statement issued Today to Journalists, in Akure, the state capital, by the State Chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC), Sunday Adeleye said workers should embark on strike if government would failed to grant their request.

Mr Adeleye said non-payment of all deductions in the salary shows government insensitivity to the plight of civil servants in the state hence the need for the strike.

"The non-payment all deductions such as cooperatives, and thrift societies, shilling funds and month loan repayment deductions among others for the month of September, October, November and December 2014 by the state government have exposed government high of insensitivity to the plight of workers and masses in general"

"The mood of workers and the entire populace in the state are full of hopeless, recurrent disappointment, disenfranchisement, poverty ridden, betrayal of trust and over over-burden"

As a result of the strike, gates leading to all government ministries, agencies and parastatals in the state have been placed under lock and key.

Also, Public schools both secondary and primary have also been closed down with pupils and students sent home.

The workers had last Friday met with the representatives of the state government over the strike but yielded no fruit.

Mimiko has gotten Federal backing in corruption: he can do and undo. He can now use same money for upliftment of his newly found party in the state.

Don't be surprised bro.. They are as greedy as their political leaders. Occupying what's not useful to them and depriving those who needs it.
