Not so fast...if the parents raised him within a culture of goals 1st + achievements and the parents themselves are always too busy to nurture a socially healthy culture or instill values which respect "the human" above " the material" then I'd say maybe the parents are to blame.

Not to judge his parents coz I don't know them,but speaking from experience I can certainly see that as a factor.If you don't nurture socially healthy attitudes to the youths then don't be surprised by such.The Japanese are famous examples of being humanly detached and they see having no affection or relationships as "normal" coz to them a career is what really matters.That is growing up empty ,without human values ,kind of cold and soulless.
