10-Man Flying Eagles Down Enyimba

Ten-man Flying Eagles thrilled the fans and defeated Enyimba International 2-0 on Saturday.

The U20 boys showed good soccer artistry to annihilate the current Federation Cup champions at the Abuja National Stadium.

Captain of the U20 side Musa Muhammed, who was brilliant as a right back released an amazing free kick which made Chijioke Ejiogu in goal for Enyimba shine like a million star.

In a game that didn't lack the needed flair, Enyimba launched their own attack through Nzube Anaezemba who found Andrew Abalogu - the winger failed to convert despite goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo at his mercy.

The enterprising Muhammed whipped in a right wing cross to the path of Taiwo Awoniyi. The Kalmar youngster failed to connect from close range.

Flying Eagles should have been in front at the business end of the first half, with Awoniyi being denied the reliable Ejiogu.

The first half of the entertaining match ended goalless, with the fans wondering why both teams failed to convert begging chances.

In the 56th minute, Sunshine Stars forward Prince Aggreh was sent off for a second bookable offence and the Flying Eagles were down to ten men.

The setback didn't stop the African Championship team bound team from pressing forward in numbers, as they continued their tiki-taka style of play much to the delight of the appreciative fans.

On the hour mark, the lone man striker, Awoniyi was rewarded for his resilient and hardworking performance when he earned a penalty kick for the Flying Eagles.

The resultant kick was brilliantly converted by Muhammed, who sent Ejiogu the wrong way.

Substitute Odeyemi Ebenezer showed the Flying Eagles defence the stuff he was made off with a fierce shot which Joshua Enaholo saved.

Enaholo was impressive as the People's Elephants bombarded the U20 boys for the much needed equaliser in the final twenty minutes. The MFM goal minder offered confidence to his back four.

Flying Eagles rattled the upright in the 87th minute of action.

Tottenham attacking midfielder Yahaya Musa capped an impressive performance for the Flying Eagles with the winner in the dying moments.

Here's how they lined up:
Enyimba FC: Chijioke Ejiogu, Bala Zakka, Uwadiegwu Ugwu, Chima Ulocha, Chinedu Udoji, Uche John, Ifeanyi Anaemena, Chinonso Okonkwo, Emma Egesi, Nzube Anaezemba, Andrew Abalogu

Flying Eagles: Joshua Enaholo, Musa Muhammed, Mustapha Abdullahi, Prince Izu Omego, Zaharadeen Bello, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Akinjide Idowu, Abdullahi Alfa, Wasiu Jimoh, Prince Aggrey, Taiwo Awoniyi

Garba: Flying Eagles Aren't Ready For AYC

Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba, has stated that his team is not ready for the Africa Youth Championship (AYC), despite his team wining their first match at the Super 4 tournament.

The Flying Eagles, who have been preparing for the African Youth Championship (AYC) in Kaduna, beat Enyimba who will be featuring in the CAF Champions. League by 2-0.

"We aren't ready yet,"Manu Garba told SL10.ng

"We've noticed a couple of mistakes that we shall correct. If you noticed we created a lot of scoring chances that we failed to convert and that means it's important that we correct that.

"Don't forget that we shall be going to Gambia to finalize our preparation for the AYC after which I think it's then we can say the team is fully ready for Africa."Manu Garba stated.

The Flying Eagles will have their hands full on Monday when they take NPFL champions, Kano Pillars, however Manu Garba believes his will take each game as they come.

"For us, we always won't to win every game we go into, playing and wining the Super 4 will boost the morale of the team going into a major tournament like the AYC. But I must say that we take every game as it comes,"Garba stated.

Awoniyi squanders a lot of chances. He needs to train on his finishing. I did not watch the game but in the U17, I noticed Awoniyi rushes his finishing. He should give himself more time.

Isaac Success conversion rate is not high at Granada too. I hope Iheanacho gets fit early. He is being trained as a striker at Man City. I hope he is ready in time to help his team mates at the AYC.

Awoniyi needs training in his finishing.

yes, Awoniyi's finishing is poor and unlike Iheanacho, he's not good at poaching balls either.

I suppose that's why he was the second choice striker to Success, but I do hope he improves tremendously cuz he's one of my favorite players on that team

And the officiating should be improved too. Aggrey was brought down rashly in the penalty box, instead of a penalty he gave a freekick in the box! And no card to enyimba player but gave aggrey a second yellow and a red card for dissent. He then compensated it with a soft or dubious penalty few minutes later. What a shame! Now i know why they get beaten up.

Garba Expresses Concern Over His Defence

Ahead of the 2015 Africa Youth Championship in Senegal, Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba has expressed concern over his defense, which he says is the only major source of worry for him ahead of the championship.

The Nigeria U20’s have been in inspiring form since they metamorphosed from the U17’s in 2014, and are tipped to win another African Youth Championship title in Senegal, but Manu Garba has admitted to SL10.ng that he has some major concerns about the state of his defense before they set for Senegal.

“My major worry is the defense and don’t forget that our best central defender, Wilfred Ndidi has just signed a contract in Belgium and we are still expecting him,” Manu disclosed to SL10.ng.

Two of the team’s top defenders are currently away, as they have both secured professional contracts in Europe and it is uncertain if they will be joining the team for the tournament.

Aliyu Abubakar is away in Israel, having signed a three – year contract with MS Ashdod, while Wilfred Ndidi only recently signed with Belgian club, Genk and was even on the bench as they beat Mouscron in the Belgian Jupilar league on Friday.

But despite his concerns, Manu moved to allay fears by stating that they still have a pool of players from which they can choose from, to replace the absent ones.

“We have a pool of players that can replace those that may not be around and don’t if we see any player that is better than what we have from this championship (Super Six), we can invited such a player to come and fight for a place on the team. We will not stop giving chances until we pick the twenty one players for the championship,” Manu stated.

The Flying Eagles beat former Nigerian champions, Enyimba 2-0 in their first game of the 2015 Super Six.

Garba Admits Alampasu Could Miss The AYC

Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba, has confirmed that first choice goalkeeper Dele Alampasu will miss out of the Africa Youth Championship if he doesn’t join the team as soon as possible.

Alampasu, who shone brightly as Nigeria won the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2013, has been in and out of the team as he seeks to sign a professional contract abroad, and is currently out of the currently, with recent reports linking him with clubs in Belgium.

And with second choice Anthony Enaholo proving to be a capable replacement, Manu has admitted that the highly rated Alampasu will miss out of the tournament if he fails to show up before the provisional squad is announced.

“Dele Alampasu is still in our plans but we understand he is yet to sign a contract in Europe and he can always join us the moment he signs. But if he doesn’t come before the final provisional list is made, he will be out of the tournament,” Manu told SL10.ng.

The Flying Eagles continued their impressive form as they beat two-time African champions and the more experienced Enyimba 2-0 with 10 men in their opening fixture of the ongoing Super Six tourney in Abuja.

Goals from captain Musa Muhammed from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute and Musa Yahaya in the 90th minute sealed the win for the Nigeria U20’s, even though they played with 10 men for the last 33 minutes after Prince Aggrey was sent off in the 57th minute for a second bookable offense.

Next up for the Flying Eagles are Nigerian league champions, Kano Pillars on Monday.

Success is a far better scorer than iheanacho. he has proved this when he played on the same team with Ihenacho, he took all the shine.

Granada is a crap team. You have to get the balls to have a conversion rate. Success does not get balls in Granada.

Overlooking success to go wishing Iheanacho speedy recovery is like overlooking a leather cushion for a cotton chair when you need to sit.

Isaac Success played as the point man And Nacho played as a creative midfielder. That was why Success scored more.

At Man City, Nacho's role has changed. He is now being trained as a point man. Even Coach Manu Garba said Nacho's best talent is his finishing. I have no problem with Isaac Success but we need to see high conversion rate. I feel if Nacho is given the opportunity, he will flourish.

iheanacho is technically clinical as a striker. isaac is very versatile. uses both feet very well unlike kelechi who is a lefty. He dribbles well too.

Garba: We Are Playing To Win

Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba says winning the ongoing Super Six tournament will boost the morale of his team, and as a result, they are playing to win it.

The Nigerian U20’s defeated the much fancied Enyimba 2-0 in their opening game of the competition, as they prepare for the 2015 Africa Youth Championship in Senegal and Manu says the target for them is to win every game, and also win the mini-tournament.

“For us, we always try to win every match we play and winning the Super Six, definitely will boost the morale of the team ahead of the Africa Youth Championship in Senegal,” Manu told sl10.ng.

The Flying Eagles will square up against Nigerian league champions, Kano Pillars on Monday in their second game, in what is expected to be their toughest challenge at the tournament, Manu remains upbeat about the chances of his team, and says they must prove themselves against teams like Pillars, if they are have a good outing in Senegal.

“We will go into it like any other game and we will play our normal game. Kano Pillars are much more experienced, definitely, but we must prove ourselves against them because we know the kind of challenge we will face in Senegal.

“If we must do well in Senegal, we must beat teams like Kano Pillars and that is exactly what we hope to do,” he added.

Messi is mostly a lefty. He hardly scores with his right foot. However, he is the most lethal finisher of all time.

Iheanacho is just starting his career as a striker. He played as a creative midfielder in the U17. Let us see his improvement after his training at Man City. He is a brilliant finisher. Man City will not train him as a finished if he would not make a world class one.
