First of, I would like to commend yall for keeping the faith this long and for the espirit des corps yall have established and maintained on this thread for a long while now. This is in sharp contrast to the thread for experienced hires which I have sworn to abandon for the apparent 'you are on your own' syndrome displayed by the threadmates. The level of self centerdness exhibited on that thread is awful and also unbelievable. A few threadmates did not follow the norm tho. @Maxmayor and one or two other guys are examples.

I am not in anyway a harbinger of bad news but i would like to say a thing or two about this recruitment drive by NLNG. Please be warned that you may not find pallatable, what i'm about to say but hey, please feel free to disregard it.

The recruitment drive by NLNG has come under very serious threat following the crash in crude oil prices. We really need to pray for God's intervention in this matter. We have been interviewed since mid October 2014. The panelists told a few of us that they would communicate the outcome to us in 3 weeks. Three weeks turned into six weeks before we got some news from them and mind you the news wasn't about the outcome of the interview. Instead the mail read in summary that they were reviewing the result for management approval after which, they would get back to us in due course. This was on 27th November 2011. It will be ten weeks in a few days since we got the review news and sixteen weeks since we interviewed with them and nothing definitive has materialised.

My take on the issue is that they are carefully assessing the whole situation whether or not it makes any business sense embarking on a recruitment drive of that magnitude at this point in time. There has been about 58% drop in crude prices over the past few months. Assuming a proportionate drop in NLNG's revenue. With over 50% of their revenue gone with the wind, is it now of all times that the NLNG management will then decide to hire about 150 graduate trainees with an approximate salary of about N9M p.a excluding other overheads like training costs etc etc. add this to about 40 experienced hires with an average salary of N22M p.a and we will be looking at about N2 Billion p.a spent on overheads! How can any management justify this vis a vis the recent events in the oil market This is what I feel is responsible for the delay in getting back to those of us interviewed since October last year.

Let us all wait till late QI as they promised in their mail to yall if they will invite you for the AC. If they do, then we will all have cause to celebrate because the NLNG management are defying the odds and are going ahead with the exercise. But if late Q1 elapses without any invitation from them, then we may conclude that this 'conspiracy theory' is valid afterall.

In the meantime, i would urge you all to intensify prayers as I have already been certified a true prayer warrior on this issue (the struggle for greener pastures just got real. Lol). We really need God's intervention in this issue. We need God to make the global oil market more favourable for the recruitment excercise to be concluded and not cancelled. And if it will take a while for the market situation to stabilise, let the NLNG management run the current recruitment exercise to a close rather than cancelling it and starting afresh.

Peace be unto yall.

I think NLNG sells in dollars and pay staffs in Naira so the current devaluation of the naira should help in terms of staff salary and others expenses made in naira. I feel they have this nigerianization policy where local companies supply many requirements for the operations of the company like pipes, gaskets, etc

NLNG has come to stay and I don't see the company geing defunct in the next 20-30 years, I see expansion. Employing graduate trainees is employing the future of he company. So in this regard, I am believing the recruitment will not be cancelled. The worse thing that I believe can happen is a reduction in the number of in-takes.

Let's just hope for the best come March, 2015.

Bro, i havent mentioned anything like the company going defunct o. But I hope to God that all youve said is true regardless of the harsh realities staring us in the face.

In fact, if there is a stronger and more apt phrase than 'hope for the best', that is what I am doing. Imagine waiting for the outcome of an inteview for over 16 weeks. Wetin hard inside make you compile interview result abeg? That folks need to wait for 16 weeks. There must be a REASON bro.

Very true but we've waited for AC invites for almost twice that time chief. You are experienced and from what I see, you are already a 'product'.
Those of us within the age bracket of 20-28 at this gt level are still defining our career path so the wait could hurt more if the company decides to cancel or postpone the process indefinitely.
As for me, I do not see NLNG as the all in all to my success. True, Its a great opportunity and probably the best company to work with here in Nigeria.
They should invite/call when they want to/if they want to.

One thing is certain, even if the price of oil falls below 20USDpB, if the business is still profitable as to continue existence, internal sustainable development and expansion, the company will still need graduate trainees now or in the nearest future.

The truth is that there have always been threats and there will continue to be threats. It's only natural for us to SPECULATE based on perceived threats. Our speculations, theories, calculations etc... do not really matter in the final analysis. Like you rightly mentioned, I choose to hope for the best, while I go about my other businesses.

By the way,I heard in the news today that the FG has ordered Joint Venture Companies to slash their budget by 40%.

Dear Mr. "Forkadict" as your Moniker infers.....

I can see you have turned your hopes to God, which is the wisest decision any man can make. But I must tell you a salient part of turning to God.

His word says that them that must worship Him must must worship in truth and in spirit. (John 4:23-24) i.e. Every thing about you must turn to God, your heart, body, and soul. The lord should reflect in every area of your life, then your answers will be granted to you as you desire.

My Advise, Let your Moniker reflect the name of the Lord. Let your signature change from the status-quo. "God is the Greatest"

"Remember, Action speaks LOUDER than WORDS".

Have a fulfilled February.

I declare Peace in every community where we all live. Non of us in this race will fall by any bloodshed or Violence during the election. Our Journeys (Goings and Comings) are covered with the Blood of Jesus.

At the end of the tunnel of NLNG recruitment, we shall all be Fully Kitted as the Ones who were not forgotten but at last were employed.

I wish each and every one of us The best of the Love Season.

Regards,

NLNG said late Q1 (March) and the elections now holds by end of March (28th). Nothing seems to be clashing here.

If prior to yesterday's postponement they were fully prepared to hold the AC in March, then I don't see any reason why they should postpone it again. Its up to them to decide the fate of this recruitment that has already suffered many ordeals.

None of us would have ever thought that we'll still be talking about AC invites by now when we got our success mails July last year.

For now, we'll remain committed, hopeful and expectant. Wish you all happy valentine.

Cheers!

It's not surprising hearing guys speculate on the demise of Q1 2015 due to elections postponement going by the fragility of this recruitment exercise so far.... grin. But for the sake of professionalism I don't see them calling it off. Afterall it's just the AC. My fear is that it may take an equally longer time before successful AC candidates will be called to resume the job.

Whatever the challenge lets keep the faith. Making it this far is good success for us and for committed fellows as this there are numerous paths to success....NLNG is but one of them.

Looking forward to our invites in the coming weeks

Bros are you sure about these figures. The disparity between the pay packages for GTs and experienced hire is just too wide man. Some GTs here are even earning close to that figure already. well do you guys know dat GEJ, Some say is part of the FID delay in the Train 7 project and Olokola project all because of brass LNG in his bayelsa state, he insists all LNG projects must hold on for the bayelsa one, whether chevron or anybody likes it or not.
source: Grapevine ( No NNPC or NLNG directors or multinationals would dare confirm/comment on it) everybody dey fear.

the other day BABS tried to quantify the monumental loss this indecision is costing the country

First Ebola
2nd election, oil fall
even the election now is postponed. (if not indefinitely, GEJ would keep waving the insecurity excuse as it has overpowered JEGA, even when PVC collection excuse failed).

PLEASE NLNG, CONDUCT OUR AC, WE CANT WAIT FOR POLITICIANS.

today is februray 8, there is alot of window to conclude the AC successfully before the Election.
februrary 9/2/15 to 27/2/2015, is 3 work weeks, more than enough for logisitics and invites.2/3/2015 to 27/3/2015 is 4 work weeks, more than enough for AC.

Great wishes @kblaze111. ..how I wish it will be so, mehn it will be the best. However, d likely hood is undecided undecided undecided .
Major Reason : Elections

This AC stuff sef needs beyond patience but long suffering. Sometimes one don't have option to be sad or happy about the political developments in the nation than to laugh grin grin and feel good smiley till you have the opportunity may be in the future to turn things around.

....AC 7 wks not 3 wks. wink

Guys still hope for best though the wait isn't funny as many Nlng aspirants may have kept on hold many plans and paths they should have pursued just because of this recruitment excersice. Especially those still at home

I pray most people in this race will have a reason to rejoice after this whole wait for almost a year now since d 1st test.

All d best all...

I'm not exactly sure about how much GTs will be earning. What i quoted was just an estimate. You may add N3 to N4M p.a max.

As for the experienced, I said average pay in my post. Average because some jobs required 8 years experience and others 10 years. I dont expect both categories of staff to earn same pay.

As for those GTs that you said earn close to N9M p.a I can only lol. Cos i'm not sure any company outside the oil and gas sector pays that much. If you decide to respond to this, please specify the companies that pay GTs that much. Let me apply to those companies as a GT if only they will take me. LOL.

What makes you guys think they are waiting for the outcome of the Presidential elections? Why didn't they wait for the Presidential elections before inviting us for the interviews? My advice to yall is DO NOT DROP YOUR GUARD. ELSE YOU MAY BE CAUGHT PANTS DOWN!

Wherever and whenever NLNG is involved, there is no such thing as OVERPREPARATION. A word is enough for the wise.
