Overview

The postponement of Nigeria’s fifth election since its return to civilian rule in 1999, together with fierce political competition, a security crisis and severe economic challenges linked to the drop in oil price, have thrown into sharp relief the challenges of conducting this essential process in such a complex environment. While there is widespread speculation as to the reasons for the delay, there is also widespread acknowledgment of the necessity that national elections do now take place as scheduled on 28 March.

General Muhammadu Buhari, former military ruler (1983-85) and now opposition presidential candidate, will discuss the importance of democracy for Africa’s future, and in particular why delivering dividends of elected government matter both to Nigeria and internationally.

LIVE STREAM: This event will be live streamed. The live stream will be made available at 10:00 GMT on Thursday 26 February.

ASK A QUESTION: Send questions for the speaker by using #CHAfrica on Twitter. A selection will be put to him during the event.

Please apply to attend by midnight on Tuesday 24 February. Applications received after this time will not be considered.

Entry to this meeting is restricted to e-ticket holders only.

Praise for God for the APC liers. But why did it take you about a week to get this listed? Was that not one of the reasons he left Nigeria about a week ago? As at this morning it was listed. May be chatham house is to be blamed because Buhari did not confirm his appointment with them? before you give that excuse, please the press release of APC last week, you will get an answer from there. Please also tell us why APC and Buhari handlers have to post fake and doctored pictures that is over 1 year old as current pictures?

APC effort for a face saving speaking slot for Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is making some headway.

Incoming reports indicates that former UK prime minister Tony Blair is lobbying the president of Chatham House for a 1 hour slot for Buhari after the main event billed for Thursday.

Baroness Patricia Scotland is the president of Chatham House and a longstanding Blair loyalist. Tony Blair appointed her as the UK Alternate Representative to the European Convention and later recommended her for the position of Attorney General. She became the first black lady to become AG in the UK. She still remains the Shadow Attorney General. If the Baroness approves on Monday, 23/2/2015, Buhari will speak at Chatham on Thursday 26/2/2015 and this will be a saving grace for the earlier sketchy reports by APC that Buhari was to speak at the Chatham House event even when he was not listed on the Chatham House website as one of the speakers.

He has now been listed but did he travel out three weeks to an election to beg the Brits to allow him to speak at Chatham house?

If his name was not on the list, why did he travel out one week before the occasion at Chatham house?

It is obvious Buhari was very ill when he flew to Britain, Fayose has asked him to tell Nigerians what he was doing in the UK in the middle of an election if indeed he was not sick.

Any one who believes these sick lies must be sick (pun intended)

Correct!
Fayose must have asked one of his sons in the Uk to send him the address of the nearest hospital to the hotel GMB was lodging at.
Now, to be candidly realistic, Fayose has something up his sleeve to be vehemently kicking against GMB ruling. There is no doubt the man is a garrulous criminal. He was caught on tape negotiating election rigging, he publicly denied receiving N50b from the Federal govt for agricultural development (Sahara helped unveil the truth), he openly used the media to oppress GMB and his followers with death threats and the like.s
My view: these are just some of the things we see in the open, he must be perpetrating more serious crimes and protected by his fellow criminals - Koro, that dracula in Ife, Omisore, and the some other PDP stalwarts.
He knows once GMB gets to power, probes him, prison break go hard to do for Kirikiri...Fayose is a fraud, a shame, a coward.

if we cannot understand his poor command of english is it the oyibo that will understand it? This is a total waste of time and resources because whatever he will say there will not make any sense to the viewers. He should have spared all these time wasting in London and go and get his Cambridge WAEC result.
