[s]What do you mean by A LOT? Because, your a lot might be my poo money[/s]... Just do it according to the size of your pocket because the future still has a lot for you and your partner... [s]If you think that the cost of traditional marriage is high in Igbo land then try marrying a Kalabari girl in Rivers state, then you will know that the igbos are learners, only the boxes of expensive judges and wrappers with Nklari (royal beads) will exhaust the amount for welding in Igboland... The problem is that you dudes complain of our girls but leave then no way, you insist that you'll marry an igbo girl contrary to the advice of your parents.
Nwa afor igbo nwere agwa ( a True igbo lady has morales)... I mean TRUE not the ones with camouflage to be... So I mean a well groomed igbo girl!
Igbo wu Igbo, ekelem! [/s]

As an event planner in which i am, the following breakdown shld see u thro in an average nigerian marriage. Tradition marriage plus payment of dowry and sundry expenses will gulp N450k. Note dat most homes do handle everyting in the trado, in such a case consider urself lucky because d expenses on entertaiment will not fall on u. But to be on d safe side budget atleast N450k. For white wedding propper, this is d breakdown, wedding gown N40k to N50k, wedding ring N30k to 50k, cake N30k, drinks n food N150k, reception venue like field is usually cheaper N20 to 30k. Dj N15k, decoration N50k if in an open field, if in a hall N70k. Reception hall N120k, compare dat wit a field. Souvenir N20k note dat u cld be supported by friends wit more souvenir. Mc N10k. Programme N15k. Note dat people will volunteer to assist u in some gray areas which i hav not listed here. If u need more info on dis and hw to help u plan a cashless wedding anywhr in Nigeria, contact me on 07068613908 EKWERE JNR. Wish u well Bro.

All figures are in Nigerian Naira and are my observation from relatives weddings.

Quiet gathering 300k
Small Gathering 300k to 1,000k (300k to 1 million)
low budget normal 1,000K to 2,000k
Normal 2,000k to 5,000k
Budget classy 5,000k to 8,000k
Standard Classy 8,000k to 15,000k
Top end Above 15,000k (15 million and above)
Exotic Above 25,000k (25 million and above)

@Op: if u don't want more confusion & need a more accurate budget, let's know d Lady's tribe & which part of d country both weddings will hold. Den u can get people frm these areas 2 give u advice. 4 instance a wedding I Abuja will cost more dan a wedding in Minna or Kafanchan, so also southern kaduna trad wedin will be cheaper dan igbo trad wedin if u get me rite!

How many 'average Nigerians' buy cow for a wedding?

No wonder some peeps remain unmarried.

This is an open forum and guess we are all sharing ideas. Most times I land on pages here through google. So if you have another cheaper way it can be done, it might be a good idea to share it here. You never know u might need it later grin

well, depend on individual pocket. I won't forget my dad advice, he always advice us not to do things to please any human. Some couple would want to do TM and WED to please people thereby cause unnecessary hardship to themselves after the event. Don't budget above your limit. Go for a lady you can afford to pay the bride price, leave blackberry girls for blackberry boys. @ op if you intend to marry invest in marriage than the TM and WED because after the ceremony you and your wife will be left alone to face the music. Look for an event planner to give you clue on that.

that is probably between 1.5Million to 3Million approximately which should be enough for an average wedding/traditional marriage inclusive in Nigeria
Wrong calculation , it's between 2m plus to 4m plus , dollar is 220naira per one dollar now !

I support o. Don't think you will be able to get drinks and food for 150k. A cow alone is worth close to that and except you plan on serving Limca to a low no of guests, like 100, that amount will go nowhere.

Must you buy cow?

How much should one pay for a decent engagement ring for proposal sef? Not too expensive but not cheap also! Answers anyone...
Re: How Much Should An AVERAGE Nigerian Male Budget For Marraige by akp202(m): 3:21pm On Feb 28, 2015
this would be determine by factors such as what u want and the ur location.for instance marriage in places such as d east n river is so expensive so you should b estimating about 1 million above while in d north it is inexpensive. i serve in aujara in jigawa state and i witness a marriage that is not up to 100,000.as a matter of fact no meat in d rice that was served to guest. Where i came from in delta if an average guy can spend between 450-650k honestly u have tried cos that would go a long way.
