@Tehn
The right thing to do is hand the money over to his family IF it was donated in the name of DJdola.

It would be wrong to raise money for one cause and use it for another. He is dead now and the normal inheritance rules do not indicate that what was raised for his benefit be handed to outsiders.

If you worry about what his family will do with the money, you may end up soiling your organization's reputation. We cannot be the evaluator and judge of that.
I also do not think returning to donors is realistic. For future drives, you may want to use a proactive fundraiser approach to have a purse to draw from when need arises OR when you take up a case and put someone's name out there, either have a stated amount you are raising for the individual OR let donors know that some of the money will be used to fund TEHN's other operations.

No matter how "huge" we feel this money is, let us be cautious and not delay in doing the right thing. Let us be cautious again and not rub salt into injury as all that money cannot bring DJDOLA back.

You set out with a good intention, May God help us all to be just and fair. Ameen

I guess it's safe to conclude you are for option 1. Thanks for your input.

TeHN will go with the general consensus on completion of the collation exercise by next friday

Empowering his Mum is the ideal thing to do.
I only have a nagging concern that there will be family members who will not allow the initiative to thrive.
However, we can only do the best we can. There are different responsibilities here, and it will be her responsibility to ensure that whatever comes out of this does not die.
.
Even though 'rehousing' them is a good idea, I feel it should be up to them.
.
Set up a business she can do. If it thrives enough and they can relocate, fine.
.
But I dont feel we should bear the responsibilty of moving them. 2-3 yrs is a short time. What happens then if her business does not thrive, and there is rent to be paid? She'll call on us for help, and then there'll be no purse to draw from becos we are handing over everythn here? Another fundraiser??
Let's set up a business for her, but leave the accomodation/relocation out of it.

Come on...think about it na...think about the students amongst us that donated a chunk out of their feeding allowance to help save a life and we are here discussing land and mosque?! Hian!

Thank you!!
People who donated did so mainly to help an e-friend in need
They would have still done so for someone else other than DJ as in times past so primarily that money was donated for his medical care
I agree with helping his mom out but certainly disagree to anything beyond that

DJ has passed on and this house worked hard about his welfare
There is another sick person folake that money is currently being raised for and others may follow
I doubt if anyone, not even DJ himself if he were here will object to money raised on his behalf being used to help another sick person in need.So your attempt to whip up sentiments where it is not needed fails.
If your sole aim of donating was for DJ and DJ alone and nothing else will do,for whatever your intentions are,I am afraid you have the wrong perspective in giving and I am certain there are very few that have that same mindset if any.
There is no reputation being soiled
Tehns has acted appropriately in the "post Mortem" of this whole thing by giving suggestions on what to do next and allowing others to

I will suggest that Tehns creates a poll and put it up for vote.no member registered today should be allowed to vote in that poll.

You can go ahead and build a mosque in his honor ,nobody is stopping you
Build one in all geopolitical zones sef
Did anyone support DJ because of his religious affiliation ?
Maybe those who did are the ones angry about option 3
Most people didn't care about his religion when they donated so making it a religious affair at his death is annoying to me and many others.

The money should be use only in favor of the family, and no third party consideration..

I endorse helping the mum some ways, but please no mosque building please..
