Rashygenius na u suppose calm down! Security Officers and Fire Superintendents must undergo training exercises. Do you think people will be given uniform and be asked to just go and start screening passengers luggages? Or are u expecting fire officers to just go fight fire without proper training?
Successful people will be camped and trained for a period of time.

No be only for South Africa, na for Iraq.. lol.. people are giving good info, I wonder where u got urs from.

@rashygenius: what are u thinking? Why on earth would u think training is not needed? If given the job without training, how do u go about ur duties, or u think it's just all about the screening of people, there's more to do my bro. Just calm down, shd u be called upon for appointment letter, u must go for training. because u need to have knowledge of the organisation u working for, how they operate, the dos n don'ts, how they address people, how to monitor other things, n so much bro.. so it's beyond what u see..

Re: Faanrecruitment Online Aptitude Test. by citizenjuwon(m): 10:44pm On Mar 25, 2015
I have it on good authority that whoever got to the interview stage (I don't know about those who bullied there way through) are 98% through to getting the job offer....... NOTE: FAAN is seriously understaffed and they operate far short of ICAO standard, Hence they need more hands in the advertised department to be certified by ICAO. For example, ICAO recommends that there has to be a minimum of 40 fire/safety men in an airport. Nigeria has 21 airports (local and international, combined) and less than 70 fire men in all the airports put together. This also apply to other departments.......
Am saying all this to calm the nerves of those running high BP after interview wink

Though I neva knew my name was on the list not until I got thr txt asking us to come for PFT on 17th. I had be checking for my name under Aerodrome Officer which was wat I applied for as a BSC holder, not knowing my name has bin under Aerodrome Superintendent. How do they explain these mix up?? I'm sure it might have affected others too, else we wuld have gone for d PFT earlier enough wen odas strtd having thrs.

I did my PFT on the 18th and my interview on the 19th at the Enugu center. I arrived there on the 18th and joined the last batch for the PFT around 12noon.

I hope u can as well read what u are writing. With passion, I hate people who simply talk for d sake of talking, Haba! how can you talk anyhow like this? so u think u can just b assigned a duty without training right? where do they do that? I pray u make it, depending on post, none will be less than 21days, few people still get eliminated @ dis stage, after which u can now have appointment letter indicating ur posting.
however, note that until one received confirmation letter, u still will continue to justify why u mustn't b sent packing, meaning elimination continues until confirmation. this is according to national standard.
so don't make it look as if we should go & sleep, don't just think its like 'eating banana'. u have to brace up, bro!

at least as a security officer, cadet officer and fire officers you need to undergo good training especially the security officer need to be trained on how to take slaps from female passenger in case you mistakenly in d process of searching u found urself searching their pant and finger her accidentally..... a slap will come from DT.... so u need training,...

I can't imaging someone concluding DT à security. officer won't undergo training.

It wasn't an unprovoked shot my bro.. and it's just not making any sense that newly recruited staff would be taken to south Africa for training. I need not ask how authentic and whoever his source is right now. What matters is for us to be called upon to pickup appointment letters and we don't mind wherever the training would take plc even if it's in cotonou. And if I get u right, I quote u "Faan fire staffs currently undergo training in Cameroon...." those are their staffs that have been working, not new recruits. While there over time as staffs, u can be taken for trainings in other countries but for now, my bro, if called upon, prepare urself because the training might likely be in lagos or anywhere else in Nigeria. SA kò dubai ní.
Our biz for now is to be called upon to pickup appointment letters, who cares where the training would hold... let's be reasonable. Forget the source of such rumour and focus more or rather give us rumours of the next step which is been called upon for appointment letter not where training would hold. Success bro.

Yes it may affect others but I say its ur fault. I actually went thru all first 4 list released, ckecking that of my state even tho I applied for Aero FS which happened to come last, I subsequently followed every other lists as been realised more so that we keep updating ourselves on dis nairaland with links, u have no excuse, accept responsibility for wat happened to u. it shows level of seriousness of candidates, we need this job more than ourselves tho. First, congratulations to those who've made it thus far. It is my sincere wish that u'r all drafted in.

I must also express "my own" opinions about this recruitment exercise, and without mincing words too. I hope my opinion will be respected as completely mine.

So FAAN stated on their website that the "pass mamark" to qualify for the next phase of d process was 50%. They shot themselves in d foot by making this declaration. I may be wrong but most if not all credible recruitment exercises never state what their pass mark will be from d outset. They know that dez things r performance based and as such wait till all results come in before making their analysis and fixing cutoff marks. Reneging on their words and not selecting everyone that had 50% and above in d first place was everything but fair imho. It is rather deceptive and I will not applaud em for that.

Second, I do not know of any "ideal" society where credence isn't given to merit but to federal character or quota systems (whatever it is termed). This is one system that has become a bane to our development as a nation. People r denied appointments and roles because they aren't from a particular region, state or geopolitical zone but are very qualified and capable of delivering results on d jobs while someone else who isn't gets d job. We can't keep doing things d old way and expect new or different results. It's quute laughable that many were not selected not because they failed but because the slots for their states r already filled. Fairness and transparence in my books is when everyone who meets d stipulated criteria is given the chance to compete for the role they applied for without recourse to their states of origin.

That said, I was thinking that d first online test wud be to prune down d number of applicants and then that a second test be conducted in a controlled and closely monitored environment. I was wrong! I do not see any "fairness" or "transparence" in a test where some people were helped by their "communities" in achieving very high scores while those that didn't do such and didn't score as high were not shortlisted for the next phase (even after scoring above 50%). That is not to take anything from those who genuinely sat for the test unaided and got very high marks as well. They are the true heroes and I respect them.

If we all will be honest with ourselves and not just speak because we were or weren't shortlisted, then we will all agree that there wasn't a level playing field for everyone. What this recruitment exercise has achieved is dat it's encouraged "cheating" to be lauded or accepted as success (for those who were aided and scored very high marks) and vilified those who worked hard but didn't score so high. Fate, some would call it. Tough luck others might say. But truth remains what it is.

Knowing the present unpalatable state of employment in this country (unemployment or underemployment), I would not blame those who did what they had to do to score very high. Survival of the smartest maybe! For this reason I sincerely wish them all the very best of luck. I pray u all get d jobs. And please do not forget ur friends who didn't make it when u do get it. God bless us all.

P.S this is entirely my opinion and as such shd be respected. Criticisms r welcomed of course, but please it shd be devoid of tantrums/insults/vitriol.

In ur opinion the quoter system is not good. but I say that is the fairest. Without that you would see that only a particular ethnic group or group of ethnic groups will be getting this jobs and that would be unfair. the northerners are educationally less developed bros but that dosent mean they shouldnt work.
On the issue of pass mark i disagree with what u said.In every system pass marks are set but the are not necessarily a prerequisite in entiety.I'll give examples.
In ur O'Level exams, the pass mark is 40. but in every admission, they will tell u a minimum of 5 credits, sometimes they will even say in not more than 2 sittings. Even in jobs they say 5 credits and not 5 passes(d) which is generally the pass mark.
In jamb, scoring 40 in every paper gives u a pass score of 160. but that score most times dont even qualify u for an apttude test let alone admission.
In the university its desame tin. have u ever seen a job placement where they said minimum of pass degree?
Check the number of pple that wrote this exams bros, in such a situation, the only way to get a fairly controllable number for interview is to narrow the selection criteria from high scores and down down like dat, like those with A,b, c.......
Both the quoter system and the selection of scorers are very objective ways and should be applauded.
Read the public update on thier website and u would see a detailed explanation of their selection process and how it was followed. If u do that u would see dat it was the fairest way possible to select and it is justifiable in any court.
If u wia the DG of FAAN , u would do thesame.
The only real problem FAAN had was thier ICT.

Don't blame FAAN for quota system stuff, it is a system employs by FG to make sure that no state is sideline during employment and admission. I don't knw why pple keep complaining abt d 50% pass mark announced by FAAN, every wise candidates knw that dis means if u score lesser than 50 u wont proceed to d next stage and not dat scoring 50 will take u to the next stage. Just like 180 JAMB general cut off mark. The only wrong tin I see in dis recruitment is writin of d test at d comfort of ur home which even has advantage as candidates will not waste money to travel to various centers and since everybody was subjected to d same condition, it is fair. I have never seen a credible and transparent recruitment by federal govt like dis yet pple are complaining. If NIS had done dis last year, those innocent lives wouldn't be lost. Let's encourage them so that they keep it up and others can follow d trend.
