Ibos talk about ewedu as if we Yorubas use the same broom we use for ewedu to sweep and then use it to prepare it again.

The 'broom' is called Ijabe and it is dedicated to the ewedu soup alone, cut fresh and short and kept clean in our kitchens.

Instead of the Igbos to see the good side of other people's culture, they'd rather talk and criticize negatively. We eat in your restaurants even though most of them are full of rats, we say all na 1 love, we eat your so called african salad even though you guys prepare it in the dirtiest of environments, but you people are just too tribalistic to see the good side of other people. Only Igbos will fight Hausas, fight Yorubas, condemn Fulanis and try to relate with the south south that obviously detests you people.

You call us cowards because we are reasonably peaceful and not like the Hausas who just get angry and start killing at the slightest event. You call us weak because we allow other tribes to settle peacefully in our lands and build houses just like ourselves. You call us fools because we see you as our brothers and we sell our lands to you without discrimination unlike you that only hoard your lands and sell to yourselves in the east. . .

Why is it so hard for you guys to accept other people's culture? And when someone says something about you, you shout tribalism as if you're not the number 1 promoters.

I think Ibos just want to be isolated. . . God help you guys.

Recently, jute leaf (ewedu) has been raved about for a lot of things – as a stellar component in healthy eating, as Cleopatra’s beauty secret, as a potent anti-wrinkle and as a super food which is being incorporated into health products.

In Japan, dried jute leaves are even made into pills which women take as beauty supplements.

In African and Middle Eastern countries where healthy eating is the norm, jute leaves are the main ingredients in mucilaginous and very slimy potherb called molokhiya.

Jute leaves, also known as Saluyot leaves in the western part of Nigeria, are used in the preparation of ewedu soup. Once grinded, it’s got a slimy consistency just like okra.

It’s a good source of fibre, low in calories but high in vitamins. In herbal medicine, it is used to control or prevent dysentery, worm infestation and constipation.

In Ayurveda (an ancient Hindu system of healing), jute leaves are used for pain, piles, and tumours.

Elsewhere, the leaves are used for cystitis, dysuria, fever, and gonorrhoea. The cold infusion is said to restore the appetite and strength.

Jute leaves pack the antioxidant trio of Vitamins A, C and E which fend off free radicals, thereby protecting from cancer and other degenerative diseases. The ACE vitamins also happen to be the most beautifying vitamins, increasing collagen production to keep the skin firm and young-looking

the broom is not used for sweeping the floor and it's kept as neat as possible, so i don't think you should have any problem with it
