how many of you are guilty of this , i once lied about this, i was to resume on monday so i spent the entire sunday at my friends house so he could teach me, but on resumption day as i was being trained on some Pricing calculation for mining, i began to look for calculator, my oga was like when you have excel wat are u doing with that, there is no room for primitive pple here

Hmmm E -lie-jah, Abi should i call you Lie -nus. Cisco what? Cisco Excel? because it doesn't exist. Cisco doesn't make spreadsheet applications , they make networking hardware like router switches and firewalls.

When you so Cisco courses its for either

CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate
CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional
CCIE - Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert or
CCSA- Cisco Certified Sales sumtin i dunno

Look at u ooo! See, if u see anybody that's a pro in any level of cisco. He/she has the basics knowledge of these application softwares. Cisco isn't all about networking.

LOL! I had an interview in Prodeco Onne. The Indian Engineer needed someone, so he asked me if I know Excel, I told him yes. So he wrote down some mathematics( I don forget) and asked me can I solve it using excel with a pen, I wrote something down, he asked me if I was sure, I told him yes that he can bring his system lemme show him. We went to his system, I tried what I wrote, it didn't work. The right formula entered my brain immediately and I followed it and arrived at the answer.
He will get back to me and till now, I am still waiting (this happened in 2013)

We all seem to be guilty. I once lied during an interview I'm proficient in excel.

Fortunately for me, the only question I was asked was the only thing I know when it comes to carrying out calculations on excel.

The question was, "how do you perform addition on an excel sheet"

Han Han....=sum(b1:b2)...then enter for first and 2nd column

The worst is when u get computing grads that know zero about excel. I once asked a subordinate to tell me the final in a the formula bar. Come see as d guy dey sweet. Oya pivot the data. Ok now the guy grew old there

There is nothing special in VLOOKUP and PIVOT in excel

OMG this topic heeen... I thought I was alone in this act ooo. My own experience,I was asked at the interview to show my skills and like seriously,I was more dumber than the guy in the op's post that was how I failed myself

You can look for Excel for dummies, nice one 4 starters and refreshers.

I was also in this shoes some time back:
Interviewer: Can you use Excel?
Me: A bit
Interviewer: So do you know Goal Seek?
Me: Yes! ( Meanwhile I saw a friend perform magic with it a few weeks back, but I had no ides how to use it)
Interviewer: So what does Goal Seek do?
Me: Errm, it is used to find the solution of an equation
Interviewer; *Looking unconvinced* Come and show me.

Omo na there gbege start. I no even know where the thing dey for Excel.

Learnt it later sha! But back then Omo na die oo!

Microsoft Excel is the best software in the world. Underestimate the power of excel at your peril. I'm also guilty of this not until I took lessons on excel. mehn, with all what I know, am still not qualified to say I'm proficient. the best word to use is intermediate. Excel rocks, especially excel VBA.

I'm holding my boss by d balls based on my knowledge of Excel vba. And I'm still a rookie o. Know vba and then u start approaching proficient.

All the same, i wrote a data program with excel for a cooperative, they pay a yearly liscense for it, thats the power of excel for you.
