Eagles, Hawks And Vultures: A Violent Affair by theorbiters: 12:52pm On Apr 17, 2015
The Sun stood like a giant guard at the centre of the sky as the clock struck thirteen.

The green leaves swayed to the melody of the warm air as two pairs of eyes shot at the Judge sitting on its lofty branchy throne.
The wind swept across the arena, carrying the chippings of the spectators to the far corners of the earth.

Everyone had come to witness a contest.

The Falcon flapped its wings amidst the warm air as silence shot through the crowds.

"What say you to these allegations tendered against you?"

The bald Eagle adjusted its stance against the warm wind that sort to ruffle its feathers. He took his gaze off the judge and laid it to rest on his opponent, his adversary.
The red tailed Hawk met his gaze with a petrified demeanour and steadied his stance. He was caught of balance by the intimidating mien of his sworn enemy.

The Bald Eagle smiled. He smiled, not because he had seen a prey, but because this was far from being a contest.
It flapped his wings slowly as if to take to flight, but it only did so to reveal its enormous intimidating size. It knew it was bigger than his opponent, faster than his adversary and stronger than all birdly spectators put together and it made no effort to conceal its pride.

This wasn't a contest.

He laid his gaze on the Falcon and adjusted his poise.

"Everything is true, my honour."

"Abomination!!!" "Abomination!!!" The host of birds cried, "You must be punished."

The Bald Eagle thumb-over the arena as mask of disgust wore the faces of everyone present. This was always expected.
He knew they were not just disgusted at his impunity, but also envious of his class for many of them had craved for the kind of strength he wield but could not have it. The Hawk had come close but was still miles off from challenging him, so it was logical that everyone would camp on the side of his opponent.
That wasn't enough to make him bulge. They were even lucky he had agreed to be subjected to a trial. Not that they could even carry out their sentence on him, he wanted them to know, This Wasn't a Contest.

"And I am not sorry for any of my actions."
The Bald Eagle thundered with impunity at the Falcon as the spectators became dead with silence.

Shock reeled in every temple as they looked on the Falcon for its verdict.
The Falcon held the Bald Eagle tenaciously with its gaze as the Bald Eagle returned the favour while the Red Tailed Hawk gazed on in silence.

Just then, the lock of gaze was broken as the warm air wheeled in the Scavenger. The Vulture.

"What brings you here, Scavenger?" The Falcon inquired.

"I heard the calling of a dead game, and I am come to feed on its carcass."

All the birdly spectators scampered for safety for it is widely known that the Vultures goes no place where there are no dead bodies. No one was ready to satisfy the hunger of a Scavenger with their own body, not even for anything in the world.

The Falcon stared on.

The Vulture adjusted it stance.

The Red Tailed Hawk poised in a combat ready posture.

The Bald Eagle smiled.

This wasn't a Contest. It was a Statement.

EPISODE 1
September 30, 1960
The Independence.
11:39:52pm.

The night was cold and quiet as the Moon hung like a fixed globe on the sky. The moonlight fought its way through the piles of darkness and laid to rest its tentacles on the surrounding environ, revealing the emptiness of the once busy street the darkness sought to hide.
Dead silence encroached from a thousand miles and continued for another thousand miles, for nothing could be seen or heard, save the footsteps of a tired man that sounded like the croaky laughter of a drunken god.

The moonlight beamed on the lazy figure as he found his way to the doorstep of his house. He fumbled with his keys as he sought to gain entrance through the wooden door.
Once inside, safely locking the door behind, he threw his tired built body expertly on the sofa as he beckoned on the soft large hands of sleep to feed him with a heavy dose of it well prepared meal of dreams as he hoped to be wheeled faraway into a grassy dreamland.

Sleep thought otherwise.

He groaned after ten minutes, opening his eyes to realise that he was still on planet earth, he struggled to adjust his body to a sitting position.

He lazily picked up the remote from the brown centre table and switched on the television. The strong light rays, emanating from the television, illuminated the dark room as his tired sorely eyes burned from its intensity.

He hated his job.

His body reeked of pure pain as he stirred on the sofa. He squeezed his face out of pain, like a rumpled piece of cloth and let out a sigh of frustration as the thought of resuming ay the office the next day crossed his mind.

He hated his work.

He glanced at the wall clock that hung directly above him. It struck 11:42. He shook his tired head and returned his attention to the inviting television.

He froze in his movement and stared intently at the television.
Something the News reporter had said had caught his attention and it was sure enough to make him smile for joy.

There have been speculation about the country gaining her independence from her colonial masters and the reporter had just announced in affirmative that the following day would be the official ceremony.

He was elated. The thought of him spending the whole day with himself seemed priceless and he prayed the holidays would be extended further by a week as the thought of him meeting up with Joan crossed his mind.

He was afloat with his thoughts when a series of torrid bangs pummelled his fragile door, jerking him back to reality.
It was 11:49 and he wondered who it was.

He hesitated for a while but the incessant bangs threatened to not just pull down the door but also crumble the entire building.
He shot to his feet and scurried to flick on the light switch. The rays from the white globe danced sharply around the room as it swallowed the darkness and the television rays, revealing the status of his humble crib.

He opened the door and like a flash, another figure appeared under the moonlight's beam.
He was startled at who he saw and his legs wobbled as he staggered backwards, allowing the well built figure gain more access into the room.

This was the last face he wished to gaze on at the moment.
He cursed under his breath. He hated his work.

The new figure wore a mask of displeasure as his intimidating presence stirred the atmosphere. His demeanour depicted pure hatred and his bloodshot eyes were like many arrows on a ready bow.

"Sam", the uninvited guest called out, "Sam. Why?"

Re: Eagles, Hawks And Vultures: A Violent Affair by theorbiters: 6:00pm On Apr 18, 2015
The air around the room began to heat up gradually as tickles of sweats ran through the nape of both men.

Sam starred blankly at the man with his deep brown eyes. He knew exactly why the question was asked, but he had no intent of giving an answer. At least, not at the moment.

He regained his courage and straighten his himself, forgetting the once obvious pain that had rode into oblivion. This was his house and he wasn't going to be coerced into humiliation, like a dog wrapped around its tail when chased to a corner, by the intimidating presence of the man in black hood before him. So he stood straight. Matching his gaze with his gaze, head to head, eye to eye and feet to feet. If he had come for a contest of strength, he, Sam, wasn't going down without a struggle.

With both men starring at each other's brown eyes, every other element froze in a moment of eternity.

"Sam. Why?" The man in the black hood inquired, this time, even a slumbering god could hear the pain in his croaked voice.

Sam kept mute.

"But I thought we were friend. I thought we were brothers."

The last statement was like a well taken jab to the throat and Sam felt like a hand had ripped apart his heart.
He felt terribly pernicious having done what he had done, but he knew he had no other option and just couldn't explain.

He hated his work.

"Clark......" Sam began but soon lost his voice as he saw a well of budding tears formed at the base of his friend's eye. He felt like a remorseful Judas.

Clark wiped off the emotion betraying tears from of his eyes as he inhaled a chunk of the hot air served in the atmosphere.

"So, this is how it is going to be, right?"

Sam could only remain mute.

"Well then", Clark continued with a smile, "Vamos a jugar sucio."
With that, Clark turned and walked out through the door whence he had come in.

Sam's eye shot wide open in fear as he stood transfixed to the ground.
He had heard that phrase before and it wasn't a good testimony. The last time he heard it, he had ended up in the psychic ward.

He rubbed his palm around his head. This was bad. Real bad. He so hated his work.

Sam thought of what to do for he realised that Clark hadn't come seeking for a contest, rather, he was making a statement and he had to find a way to return the statement.

The clock struck 12:00:17am and Sam cursed.
So much for an Independence day.

Fifty-Four Years Later.......
8:29:03pm

Richard sat on the wooden chair in the midst of the garden as he watched the moon smiled brightly through the night. It was going to be the perfect night, he thought.
Different pairs of lovers had littered the garden as everyone seemed to be professing their undying love under the registering eye of the bright full moon and Richard thought, perhaps, everyone had been struck with a Cupid's arrow.
Romance was in the air.

The gentle breeze kissed Richard on his bare cheeks as he adjusted his glasses.
He glanced at his wristwatch, it was 8:30:23pm. She was an hour late. He pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialled a familiar number. It was switched off.

He quickly made the sign of the cross and secretly prayed she would show up.
After what it had seemed like an eternity of raging battles, he had finally won her over. He prided in his achievement.

He had painstaking prepared for the night, conjuring what he would describe as the most exotic evening he would have in his lifetime and he only hoped luck wouldn't desert him.

He smiled as the scenarios played in his head and he fiddle with the little box hidden in his pocket.
He had planned to meet her at the garden and then, set out for the cinema. Form the movies, they both would go on to have a candlelight dinner on a cruise yacht in the middle of a swan lake, with the moon and stars in attendance, dressed in white as the onlooking invited guests.

The thoughts still played in his head when he saw a figure dart in the shadow.
He shook his head vigorously to be certain he wasn't drunk with anxiety.
The figure was no more.

He heaved a sigh of relief and glanced at his wristwatch again. 8:43:21pm. He stirred uneasily on the now warm bench as he thumb-over the vicinity, hoping to see who his heart ached for.
Adjusting his gaze forward, he choked with a chunk of air as the figure appeared in his line of sight, a few metres from where he sat.

This was the last person he had hoped to see.

Advancing towards where Richard sat, the figure, dressed in a black tux on a white plain shirt tucked in his black trouser, cut through the haze of unconcerned lovebirds and stood about an arm's length as he cast his gaze on Richard. His face was void of expression. Richard's heartbeats began to race out of fear.

Richard stood to his feet and returned the stare.

Quickly, the cold air around them became heated as both men were locked in a tug of gaze.
Angels and demons paused in their activities as people turned their attentions to the men who remain oblivious of their stares.

After what seemed like an eternity, the silence was broken.

"Richard." The man in tux called out.

"Nathan." Richard respond.

"So this is what you have been brewing behind my back?" Nathan accused.

Richard remained mute.

"So this is how it's gonna be.
"No problem. Vamos a jugar sucio."

Richard stood transfixed to the ground. That wasn't a phrase of commendation. It was a statement of threat.

He watched as Nathan walked away from him in the same direction he had come and he quickly pulled out his phone to dial a familiar number.
This time, it went through.

A female voice answered on the second ring, though it wasn't who he was expecting.

"Where is she?" Richard inquired as his heartbeats became loud enough for him to hear.

"She is not around." The voice responded.

"But this is her phone. Tell me where she is?" He was almost screaming into the phone.

After a moment, the voice quietly spoke, "She's in the hospital."

Richard didn't wait to hear the rest of her answer. He switched off the phone and smashed it to the ground, screaming to the high heavens as he rubbed his hands over his face, prompting every eyes to shoot a stare at his semi-demented mind.

He hated that statement and cursed under his breath. So much for an Independence day.

EPISODE 2.
THE MEET.
Thirty-One Years Ago.
University Of Lagos.
09:42:16am.

The bright Sun sat on the eastern side of the horizon as it uncaring rays threatened to scourge everything it laid eyes on. The intensity of its malevolence was precarious enough for anyone to call on whatever deity it accorded reverence, to show a good sign of love for the human race by uncaging the rain from it tight shackles, even if it was for a minute. It was under this watchful eye of the Sun when Nathan stepped into the white building, a car drove in through the gate.

He had skipped lectures that morning so as to finish up his registration. He hated the idea of procrastinating things he could easily do.
It was already two weeks into the new session and he vowed to take things more calmly. Last session had been like a trip through hell and he just wished things would be different. He let out a sigh of frustration as he walked towards the Bursary office. Just no matter how much he wished to live a quiet and normal life, a Call was all he needed to make him feel like a man prepared to be hanged on the gallows. He just hoped he would survive at the end of whatever game was going on. Perhaps, he was just a little pawn in a bigger game.

His pen dropped to the floor. The sound jerked him back to life.

He starred at the pen for a while, wondering how it managed to fall despite he holding onto it firmly. He noticed the arrows of stares from all corners but he ignored them as he stooped to his kneels.

He heard footsteps.

Like a sting of chords struck on a keyboard, so the heels kissed the strong ground with such elegance and mild intensity, making sounds like a a beautiful blend of medley as the echo vibrated on his ear buds.

He took his eyes up.

He being Caramel skinned, had an affinity for the same colour. His eyes travelled from spotless baby skin-like legs and he choked on a chunk of air as his eyes gazed up at their faces.
He shot to his feet, defying gravity for a seconds or two as his eyes came in contact with the two ladies before him.

His attention was undivided as his eyes got stuck on the Caramel skinned lady, beating her obvious light skinned companion well into obscurity.
His pulses began to rise as her big green eyes stabbed his heart. The last time he had this effect was when a female lifeguard had resuscitated him after he drowned in a local swimming pool.

He was a bit taller than her, even with the heels and he used that to his advantage as he watched her thick dark hair sway gently with the mild breeze that littered the atmosphere.

He was losing his senses as his eyes fought to lay rest on her top revealed cleavage that stood firm, pouting sharply from the tight red dress she wore. He imagined her smiling and he thought she was adorable.

"Excuse me sir, you are standing on our way."

The sharp but soft voice had knocked him back to his senses. He smiled briefly only to realise it was her friend who spoke.
Must she talk, he thought to himself, as a look of disgust registered in his face. The light skinned lady wasn't smiling either.

He staggered to his side as the ladies walked passed him. They smelt nice, he thought.

He watched as they slowly, both swinging their hips as they laughed among themselves. He fed his hungry eyes with their voluminous back as he walked absent-minded towards the Bursary office.
Drunk in her beauty, watched as they stepped out into the angry Sun rays and completely void of his senses, he failed to realise the presence of someone standing in his front.

He kissed his face on the muscular chest of the person, bringing the person easily to the ground while he tumbled over the body as his books kissed the hard floor.

"Oga, nawa for you o." The voice said mildly.
Re: Eagles, Hawks And Vultures: A Violent Affair by theorbiters: 6:10pm On Apr 20, 2015
"I am so sorry."
Nathan apologised after realising he had just brought down a guy.

"Nawa o. Na woman do you like this?" The guy asked as he adjusted his glasses.

Nathan felt awkward as he offered to help the guy to his feet.

"I am so sorry." Nathan began another series of apologies. "I wasn't looking."

"Guy, if you like the babe, just go and tell her before someone else does that for you."

Nathan looked at him speechless. His mind began to take a critical look at him.
He had seen him before now, probably in one of his classes but he couldn't figure out where.
The guy returned the stare in a rather confusing manner.

Whispers filtered into his ear space, prompting him to brush aside every speculation.
He looked around and his eyes met with people's stares. While some looked at him out of confusion, some looked out of disgust while many giggled. He felt like sinking into the ground.

The guy in glasses cleaned off the dirts from his clothes and took his leave, leaving Nathan buried in his sea of thoughts.

Nathan stood rooted to the spot as thoughts of him chasing down the lady played in his mind still, he remembered he had some payments to make in Bursary office.
He hated procrastination.

After a moment or two, he quickly rushed inside the office and made the necessary payments. He would have been out earlier by some minutes, all no thanks to the lady that was asking for 'holiday bread'.
He quickly gave her N1000 and bolted out of the office and the entire building in a flash into the waiting arms of the harsh Sun rays.

He looked to his right and saw her quite afar off. He took to his heels, prompting people to brew the thoughts of him being insane.

Getting to some metres behind her, he began to walk, yet he walked in haste.

The light skinned lady looked back and immediately frowned her face after she recognised him. He cursed under his breath, wondering why it had to her to look back.
She turned front and muttered something to her friend who later looked back but quickly turned front when she saw his face.

Nathan's heartbeats became erratic as he realised that the ladies had reduced their pace.
He was planning on what to say when his phone rang out.

He pulled his phone from his pocket. He recognised the caller.

This was the Call he had dreaded all his life. This call had made his first year miserable and he felt like smashing the phone to the ground.

He looked up and saw the distance between him and the ladies had been increased so he quickly ended the call as he made to meet up with them.

The Call came in again.

Nathan threw his hands to the air out of frustration. He knew he had to answer the Call or face certain consequences.

Realising that distance between him and the ladies was quite huge, he heaved a sigh of defeat as he answered the Call on the third ring.

"Hello sir." Nathan answered.

"Nathan, how are you?"

"I was okay about three minutes ago before you called."

Nathan could hear the voice give a croaky laughter. He hated this game.

"So you refused to pick my call instead."

"I was a little busy but now I am not." Nathan was getting irritated.

"Whatever boy." The voice cut in. "Have you found him."

"No sir. I am not sure he is in this school." Nathan responded.

"He is there. I know it. I can feel it." The voice thundered.

"Well, I haven't...."

"Just find him." The voice thundered and then terminated the call.

The pressure returned and Nathan felt like punching anything that stood before him. He hated this obsession.

He tucked the phone in his pocket as he walked slowly under the raging Sun rays.
This was going to be another trip to hell, he thought.
Re: Eagles, Hawks And Vultures: A Violent Affair by theorbiters: 7:19pm On Apr 20, 2015
The two ladies walked on in silence, slowly breathing as they awaited the next course of action.

The light skinned lady glanced over her shoulder and came to abrupt halt, realising no one was behind them.

"Can you imagine?" She almost screamed.

Her chocolate skinned companion turned around.
"Where is he?"

" How will I know? All these boys. That is how they would be behaving."

"Haba." Her friend lept to his defense. "Probably had something to do."

"Oh, so it is when he was about to finally talk to real lady, he suddenly realised he had something to do?"

"Well, I guess I heard his phone ringing."

"Please, spare me that excuse jhoor. He is a coward."

They both scanned the vicinity hoping to spot him but were soon hit with the realisation that he had disappeared.

"Well, I guess he was really in a hurry. Besides, I think he is cute."

The light skinned lady looked at her in disgust.
"Every dark guy you see is always cute in your eyes."

"But he is really handsome na."

"Please, let me hear word. I am not a racist o, but you really need to wash your eye."

"Crazy girl." Her friend giggled. "Besides, who do you think he was going to talk to?"

"Is that a trick question or what? You of course." The light skinned lady replied as they began their journey.

"What made you think so?"

"Are you blind or you trying to be blind? Didn't you see the way his eyes raped your body as if he was searching for his name in the book of life?"

"Jesus!! Audrey you are crazy o."

"But it is true." She responded amidst the laughter.
"I think he looks familiar."

"Exactly. I had the same thoughts. Maybe from our Financial Planning class. Mr. Okoji's class."

"Jesus is my father." Audrey said aloud.
"Hammy, have you done your assignment?"

"Which assignment.... Jesus!!! It is true o." Hammy exclaimed.
"Let's get food from that canteen then we would go and do it."

The ladies hurried into the canteen not taking notice of the four men that sat beside the door.
The three dark men nodded in affirmative when the light skinned man who seemed like the alpha pointed in their direction.

Just then, another man, light skinned and in glasses, entered and sat behind the four men, just observing.

This was going to be fun he thought.

EPISODE 3.
The First Step.
10:23:17am.
Somewhere On The Island.

Mr. Stone walked into his office on the 32nd floor. He had been feeling a lot of pressure lately so he just wasn't in a chatty mood when his secretary greeted him.

He threw his keys on the big black leathered table as he walked to the window, buried in his thoughts. He felt a little bit on edge as things were not turning out the way it was suppose to be. He needed to clear his head.

There was a knock on his door and he turned around.
"Come in."

His secretary, looking smart in her white top and tight black skirt, complementing her light skin, walked into the office holding a file. He thought she looked pretty.

"What file is that?" He inquired.

"This is the report of the contract we applied for last week."

He studied her face and saw a bit of discouragement on it.
"Is it that bad?"

"Well." She sighed. "We lost it."

"Dammit." He cursed.

"They said we didn't meet the requirements on....."

"I don't think so." He cut in. "It is more than just that."

She looked at him feeling more confused but he threw his face away.

"You won't understand." He finally spoke. "You can drop the file on the table and leave."

"But sir." She injected. "Don't you want to know who we lost it to?"

He smiled as if he had been expecting that question, "I think I pretty much have an idea who it was. Just don't let it bother you."

She looked puzzled as he kept on smiling. After what seemed like forever, she dropped the file on the table and took her leave.
While she was gone, Mr. Stone scattered everything on the table out of frustration. Truth was that, the anger had been brewing inside for a long time and he had to pretend like he was cool when deep down he knew he wasn't.
He felt like a ravaged Lion robbed of it cubs.
He had to find a way to fight back and he had to do it fast.

He pulled his phone from his pocket and dialled a familiar number. After the second ring, there was a connection.
"Hello."

"Hello sir." The voice responded.

"I need to talk to my son."
**************************************************

University Of Lagos.
10:32:09am

The two ladies ran like their lives were in danger. Of course they were. They were late for their test.
They had woken up that morning with no idea that they had a test that morning. It took a call from a fellow colleague to put them on their heels.

They got to the entrance of the lecture hall but were brought to a halt by the usual loud and harsh voice of Mr. Okoji.

"HEY, YOUNG LADIES!! WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING?." He thundered as he adjusted his glasses.

They stood speechless, wishing the ground would cave in.
Re: Eagles, Hawks And Vultures: A Violent Affair by theorbiters: 8:41am On Apr 22, 2015
"I said, where do you think you are going?" He asked again, prompting every eye to stare at them.

He walked slowly towards them and some students seized this rare chance to commune with one another in hush tones.

"So, you think you can come to my test anytime you feel like, abi?"

Words got stuck in their throats as they stared at the man hopelessly.

"Can't you talk?" He fired again.

"Excuse me sir." A male voice called for his attention, prompting him to turn around.

"Yes. What is it?"

"Sir, they have been here earlier. They both asked me to cover for them incase you asked about them."

"Why?"

"One of them was terribly sick, so they both went to the clinic."

"So, you are now their mouthpiece abi? They can't talk for themselves?" He looked at the ladies.

He turned back to the man who defended them, "Young man, what's your name?"

"Daniel, sir." He lied.

"I see." Then he faced the ladies.

The ladies nodded their heads to collaborate the story as the lecturer gave them permission to go in.
Audrey frowned her face when she recognised who had just bailed them. 'The Coward' she had nicknamed him.

They both got seated close to him as he quickly threw his face back to his test paper.

His pulses began to rise as his eyes caught Hammy's eyes. He began to see her image on his paper and would have loved to trace her image on his paper if not for the lecturer that thundered it was about two minutes to the end.

Hammy stared at him, forgetting completely that she had a test to write. He was of the same skin colour with her and his dark hairs were short and curly. He had a smooth face and his eyes had shone with passion when they met hers. He was well buit and she imagined herself in his arms. She was already dreaming of 1,001 things she could do with him when Audrey knocked her on the head. She quickly scribbled what she could as they began to submit in a haste.

She rushed to submit, hoping to chat with him but was disappointed not to see him again. He had quicly exited the hall.
"Coward." She muttered.

Audrey laughed as she read what was playing in her friend's mind. She gave that 'I told you so' look as they picked their bags and made for the exit.

Hammy's bag brushed a youg man standing by the door and she apologised. The young man adjusted his glasses and smiled.

"That was awkward."

"What was that?" Audrey asked as they walked towards a cafeteria.

"I apologised to a guy and he just smiled."

"So? Please let's go and do something better. I'm starving."

"But why did that guy just run away like that? I wanted to thank him." Hammy asked.

"Leave that guy abeg. I am glad he did o, but he is a chicken." Audrey replied absent-mindedly.

"There have to be an explanation."

Audrey gave her that, 'Are you serious' look as she hastened her pace, allowing Hammy to run behind her.

Audrey's Apartment.
08:32:58pm

Audrey sat on the bed as the room was littered with clothes hanging everywhere.
She was on the phone, conversing with the woman she had known to be her mother when she saw Hammy walk into her room, just with a white towel that barely covered her kneel caps, looking puzzled with a piece of paper in her hand.
She quickly ended the call as she turned her attention to her.

"Babe, what's up?"

"Did you write this and put it in my bag?" Hammy queried as she waved the paper in the air.

"What is that?"

"Take and read it." Hammy offered the paper to her.

"What is all about?"

"Just read it first." Hammy urged.

Audrey read aloud,
"Will I find you?
Among the crowd of faces,
Or adrift on a lonely island.
Will I hear you?
When the songs are sung,
Or when the whispers are few.
Will I feel you?
Whether you be by my side,
Or whether you stay half way across the world.
Let me kiss you."

Audrey looked confused as her gaze met Hammy's, "What is this?"

"How will I know?" Hammy replied as she sat on the bed. "I saw it in my bag and I thought maybe you were the one who wrote it."

"And why would I think of doing that?" Audrey quizzed.

"I don't know. Or do you know anyone who must have done it?" Hammy asked.

Audrey went over it again and then her eyes shot wide.
"Wait o. I hope it is not that Dan guy that helped us today? Because I don't just like him at all."

"You may be right. Maybe that was why he ran away without talking to us." Hammy giggled as she spoke.

Audrey threw her face in disgust, "If he was the one, then this just shows how much of a coward he is."

"Haba, take it easy. Not everyone can approach a lady just like that. I think I am beginning to like him." Hammy teased.

"You better clear your head. Have you called Mark today?"

"That' s true." Hammy shot to her feet and ran out of the room.
Audrey squeezed the piece of paper and threw it into the bin.

Her phone rang.

The night wind was mild as the moonlight did little to recognise the man that sat on the wooden bench. He inhaled a chunk of fresh air as he savoured the freshness of the grass around him.

He had just ended a call and it felt like he was being prepared for war. He hated the idea of someone hunting for his life and he was finally thinking he was beginning to have fun, a night ghost had surfaced.
He wished he wasn't involved in this game of whatsoever it was called and the worst part was that he doesn't even know who the opponent was.
How can he be fighting an unknown enemy, he pondered. He hated anything that could cause him stress.

He looked around as his hands clutched tightly to an object in his pocket.
His mind was made up. He was going to do what he had in mind to do before he embarked on any other thing. Life is too short to be serious all the time.

You're doing a very good job, bro. I'm liking this.
You should complete ghost and shadows, though.

Hammy rushed into the room with two black nylon bags in her hands. She was just returning from the market and she felt the need to relieve herself.

She dropped the bags on the wooden table and rushed to use the ladies as Audrey began to search the contents of the bag.
She came out of the toilet with drips of water on her brown face as she met Audrey with a confused glare, holding a piece of paper in mid air.

"What is that?" Hammy queried.

"Another love letter of course." Audrey replied as she handed over the paper to Hammy while she sat on her bed.

Hammy read aloud,
"I wish I could hear my name on her lips,
As I wish my head lay on her hips.
I wish i could see her eyes set aglow,
Making it way to stab my soul.

An angel among men,
An angel out of this realm.
Stealing our hearts with such rare impunity,
We can't but only adore you.
Happy birthday Starlight.."

Hammy starred at Audrey looking confuse and suddenly her eyes shot wide open,
"How did this person know about my birthday?"

"Hello?!! Everyone does."

"This is the fifth letter in two weeks. I am liking them but at the same time I am beginning to get scared." Hammy voiced out.

"I feel like punching that dude in the face." Audrey squeezed her face.

Hammy flipped the paper over, "Oh, he wrote his number here also. Finally."

"Wait. So he had been dropping letters anonymously, now he drops his number? What kind of sick guy is this? Who does that?" Audrey was become irritated.

Hammy laughed at her friends taunts as she dialled the number.
It rang but there was no answer.

"He is not picking."

"Christ!!!! I wish I could just strangle that guy." Audrey barred her teeth.

He watched as his phone vibrated and smiled to himself. This was going as planned.
He allowed the call terminate as he cracked his knuckles. It was time to reveal himself.

His second phone rang out as he got up to leave his room. He frowned his face as he recognised the caller. He sunk back to his bed.

"Hello Dad." He answered.
